  1. I can pay up to 50$-55$ for this. There is no deadline set in stone, though having it in January might be nice (It's meant as a Christmas gift for the friends I play this game with).
  2. Hey guys, As the name suggests - I'm looking for artists for a mass kitty pile. Essentially, someone to draw the characters of myself and several friends (Potentially six in all) as cats. Not just your typical big headed chibi cats, I'd like some measure of detail here. The kitties would be piled up amongst each other, and some might have accessories (Hats and the like). PM for further details and information (including "reference pictures").
  3. I love how the two of you summed this up. Now I have this mental image of a Culinarian smashing two brawling magic users, in full Vanya gear no less, over the head with a frying pan and telling them to "Get the f*** out of my tavern!" Especially since said pan is still probably pretty toasty. Yeowch. And of course Leatherworkers have awls. So it's like... "I'm going to stab you in the neck with this giant spike. Or make with the flaying. It's kind of a shame you can't have both your primary and secondary tools on display (Or at least you can't for Goldsmith, not sure about the others)
  4. Hey guys, So... after doing a lot of deep reflective contemplation, meditating on the meaning of existence and so forth, I've come to a conclusion. I -really- like certain "Artifact" crafting sets. Namely, Leatherworker for my current Miqo'te character. I love the way the set looks, as well as the weapons that are available. So that's going to be my primary RP set. But then I thought... "Wait - Crafters have no Flare, no Holy, no way to really fight outside of swinging their weapons around pell-mell (No matter how much those weapons look like they could be used by Disciples of War - Look at the Carpentry axe from the level 50 quest, for crying out loud. That thing's almost the size of a broadsword). Granted, that's assuming we go by the crafting as it's shown, not taking into account any chemicals or anything of the sort (chloroform for a Goldsmith, for instance). But then I got to thinking about scenarios that might arise when slinging big spells might not be prudent. What if someone got the drop on someone else in the middle of a city-state, or a building, or in any other situation where magic would cause more harm than good. In that situation, would it be appropriate to play a character who'd trained with the tools of their trade to the point where they could use them as effective weapons? This is completely leaving aside the crafting skills - because we're obviously not going to encounter people who roleplay as trees or bits of animal skin.
  5. You mean all crafting gear 1-50? Because there are definitely pants available to female characters. If you're looking at just a subset, though, I wouldn't be surprised as "remove pants, transform into short skirt with thigh highs" is the yawn-inducing, cookie-cutter formula to "feminize" (as though that should mean anything) a "masculine" outfit. I'm talking about the level 50 "Artifact" crafting gear. Which I've seen in game does come with pants. Which is good, since my Miqo'te is pretty much just going to be a crafting character once I get my mount.
  6. Okay, so. A question for all females in general. Are all of the crafting outfits just... sans pants for us? I'm trying to look at this model viewer, and it's not registering any pants for any crafting gear I've tried. Unless it's one of the situations where the boots compensate for a lot.
  7. Hey guys, So - I'm really hoping to bolster my ranks for an RP plot-line I'm in before it begins to spiral into something beyond my control. As such, I'm sending out a plea across the Internet for any interested parties to volunteer as NPCs/long term PCs for this series of events. It will be fairly localized, between two particular characters, but there will be longevity to it. The Set-Up: Rerekiya Lalakiya is an up-and-coming merchant lord within Ul'dah. His Goldsmithing skills have earned him a decent living wage, enough to spearhead another venture - a bounty hunting endeavor with a longtime friend (Ferus Ironlash). The two hunt down marks charged with various crimes, from robbery, to desertion, to murder. They've never really had a mark that's elicited any sort of question, until now. See, the woman they're charged with hunting down now is Garlean - Rere is aware of this, Ferus is not. What's worse, they've been hired by the Garleans to bring her back - for a princely sum of course. Rere would likely, if prompted, make certain other people (listed below) aware of this too. Hence, he would choose the people to get involved in this venture rather carefully. Luckily, armed with the fact that the girl is not a military hazard, and that building a favorable relationship with the Empire will be a boon if they ever invade in force, Rere believes he can secure a group of trustworthy individuals. And that's where you come in. Here's what I'm looking for in particular. Ex-Slaves: See, Rerekiya's backstory is one of fairly horrible circumstances. At an early age, he was sold into slavery to cover his father's gambling debts, and remained in bondage for some years until escaping and winning his freedom. The people within this category are all people he grew up with, who he has since helped escape or escaped with him. Thus, despite his rather cruel and somewhat flippant attitude toward other people, there is an established trust relationship between these two groups (Or at least between certain members in particular). If you are interested in playing any of these parts, simply leave a comment and I will PM you with more details. There is a lot of flexibility here, so keep that in mind. Miqo'te: Male [x], Female x2 [ ] Lalafell: Male [ ], Female [ ] * (Very specific circumstances. Dedicated player only please) Hyur: Male [ ], Female [ ] Many of these people would have been at least offered a position within the bounty hunting organization - or Annin's goldsmithing company, or both. As such, he will have approached all of them about the Garlean job, trusting in their trial by fire to keep them tied to his cause. That's about it, unless anyone has further questions. I await any replies you might have. There is one caveat though; if you are currently involved with another long-term RP session, I'd rather you not apply for this. I do -not- want to feel like I am keeping anyone from other commitments. This is a dedicated, ongoing plotline that might warrant its own Linkshell, depending on how big it gets. Again, thank you for your feedback.
  8. Hey guys, Consider this the spiritual sequel to my crafting RP thread. I'd been thinking for a while about the best possible way that I could incorporate my character's crafting skills into RP. Since, he is a Goldsmith, that is important, and it's not like Alchemy where he can just... brew a poison or a potion as needed. At first I thought I'd post a thread accepting commissions for items made in-game. Maybe... gil to cover cost of materials, plus a little extra for time and effort. But then I thought that'd be wrong of me; especially considering there are plenty of other people out there plying their trade, and ESPECIALLY because I'm not composing an artistic composition or a piece of music, something that would be worth in-game money to trade for. So then I came up with another idea... a sort of collective crafting guild catalog thread, where people can list their characters in terms of skills and what materials they work best with, and then other people can PM a crafter of particular interest and work out a "Commission" in terms of a fictional RP item. For instance - I put that my character (Rerekiya) works very well with gold and red coral. So, someone contacts me and asks for a gold armlet inlaid with veins of red coral. I work on the product, perhaps even initiating RP with the client at the Goldsmith's Guild or another convenient location, turn in the roleplayed product and accept the roleplayed profit. (Note: If someone would care to take the time, we could even have pictures drawn for some of the noteworthy pieces done by each crafter. We could have them displayed as a gallery of completed works). This is just a random idea I had, but it's a lot more developed than "Let's just have crafting RP," with no real thought on how to do so. I want to hear what you all think, though. Bear in mind, unless specifically requested, the items made will not reflect any existing in-game items. I'm thinking of some sort of caveat for some of the higher grade items, and how they might be handled. Here's looking at you, Red Coral Earrings and Vanya Robe of Healing. This also greatly expands the amount of materials some crafting professions can work with. For instance, a Weaponsmith could craft a decorative golden sword for someone who wants to look good at a Gladiator's Guild event.
  9. Regardless - thank you! I can't wait for that, and for the extra Fantasia phial (or three) as well. Because there are just so many things to change (Not having weird brown-purple hair for one thing). It's good to know that they're doing this. I guess until they do, Annin Rapnin can be my Dunesfolk's alias or something.
  10. Hey guys, As the title suggests... I'm currently unhappy with the name of my main character. He used to be a Plainsfolk Lalafell, I recently made him a Dunesfolk and, of course, they have different naming conventions. Now, I was wondering if there would be sufficient stability in simply shelling out the 50$ to transfer to another world, force a name change, then transfer back. Not stability in servers, necessarily, as I'm sure I can just find some time when Balmung is open up again to transfer back in, but stability in items. I'm just really worried that I'll lose some of the Goldsmithing gear that is currently sitting nice and snug in my inventory. I know the game will take off some of my gil if it reaches a certain cap, but nothing about items in my inventory or storage. Any help on this matter would be appreciated, or any links to -any- rumblings that name changes are coming soon.
  11. I think a little bit more context is in order. Annin's "fiancee" is a slave he met during his own period in bondage at the manse of a fairly affluent Ul'dahn merchant. Essentially, a slave in everything but name, unpaid labor with harsh corporal punishment for dissent. Their engagement was more of a promise made in their early teens. Long story short, Annin escaped - she did not, and much of his motivation for the past decade or so has been rescuing her and laying low the person who caused the two of them so much grief. This has necessitated the adoption of a complete tonal shift in terms of personality and motivations - so he's obviously not going to be the same person she knew him as. But then again, the same could be said of her. Essentially, until a rescue is mounted there isn't a need for her to exist in the physical game. However, if someone would like to roleplay some scenes from their joint pasts beforehand, that would be great as well. I hope this clears up any confusion!
  12. Of course, this doesn't mean that the thread is closed! If anyone else has a character that they think fits this scenario, please let me know and I'll provide further details.
  13. Hey Claris! Thanks for the reply. Just so the thread doesn't get overly long, I sent out a quick PM with some more details.
  14. (This is a restructuring of my previous thread, designed to be significantly less obtuse. If a mod wouldn't mind deleting the pre-existing thread, I'd be very grateful.) Essentially, I'm looking for a character to play the "fiancee" of my Lalafell character, for a plot line I have planned for sometime in the nebulous future. There's still some stuff to wrap up with other plots, but if anyone wants to discuss potential past RP over Skype or instant messenger, I'd love to arrange something like that. The bare-bones requirement is a female Lalafell (Either Dunesfolk or Plainsfolk works). This character would have had a shared history with mine, further details will be revealed upon request (Though they're listed at length in the original thread.) I think a little bit more context is in order. But then again, the same could be said of her. Essentially, until a rescue is mounted there isn't a need for her to exist in the physical game. However, if someone would like to roleplay some scenes from their joint pasts beforehand, that would be great as well. This does not have to be anyone's main character, though if anyone does main a female Lalafell they feel like volunteering for this, all the better. Again, if anyone's interested be sure and let me know. I promise I don't bite... much. :tonberry: (Adorable Tonberry Interlude )
  15. That's the hope. Though the knowledge of RP crafting FCs is interesting. I suppose it's difficult, trying to blend a fairly nuanced story with a character who hammers away at pieces of pretty metal in his off time. Unless there was some way to combine the two. Like Yakitake Japan, except with fewer afros.
  16. Hey guys, I know this is sort of an oddball question, but I've recently started leveling a Goldsmith up to level 50 (For more RP clothes, obviously), and I've found myself really enjoying it. The rush to collect resources on my Miner to supplement each project, the delightfully refreshing guild quest (Where you're -not- the paragon of all magical/martial might in your chosen career path) and the nice combination of strategy and luck involved in getting a high quality item. Hells, there's levels and equipment involved. This is honestly one of the most in-depth crafting systems I've seen in a game. I remember fond events from my Guild Wars 2 days (So, about two months ago), that revolved around crafting. Those got me to thinking... we do lack the giant furnaces and such that distinguish GW2 crafting, but what's to say people couldn't do crafting guild meetups, demonstrations of skill, and so forth? I'll fully disclose, I'm not the sort of person to be running such a thing, my event organization is rather bogged down by university classes. I just figured I'd get the idea out there and see how you all respond. Consider it testing the water for community interest. (Also, this doesn't have to be limited to crafting. I could see many an enjoyable expedition of Miners, Botanists, and Fisherpeople - possibly guarded by other players.)
  17. The "close, but not quite" aesthetic is something I plan to go for. Without spoiling anything, the relic weapons and job armor for the Scholar aren't described as entirely unique, so having something - similar - to one of them isn't too difficult
  18. Hey guys, Well - after having hit 50 with my Scholar just recently, I've started in on the post-game content including the Relic Weapon. I'm about halfway down the chain, and I'm currently wondering... Could I legitimately use this thing IC, even after the usual "effort" quest people undergo to get such things? The same could be said of my artifact armor and ultimate Job class spell too.
  19. So, new developments from the Scholar personal story. Would it go amiss to have a character who, a few years after Carteneau, highway robbed a merchant who had the tablets with him, or did an archaeological dig at Nym or something to find some? He's a decent scholar now, in his mid to late twenties, but that's because I'm going for sort of a prodigy idea with him. Got to work out vulnerabilities then too. Speaking on it... does anyone know exactly when Lalafell are considered adults? All of the ones you meet in the game seem pretty old, except perhaps Tataru.
  20. Jove, I'm sorry to respond to only -one- bit of this amazing post (I'm framing it, I really am) but I read it at a bad time... as in, one foot out the door for a night class. My friend and I are, of course, going to be very subtle about things; only going after targets in full hoods and cloaks and masks, unless they're absolutely certain they can win. As for the fairies, Selene's going to come in really handy with silencing their target, who's a mage. I'd been sort of jumping between Summoner and Scholar for a bit, but your post clinched it. If Garleans think Primals are evil, even a deep cover one wouldn't summon an Egi. Hell, his best friend was nearly killed in the Calamity.
  21. I'd sort of addressed the ineptitude already; my character, and his friend, are both from occupied territories. They're not of significant rank within the army, in fact their main goal is to serve as more or less bounty hunters. The current RP hook I've worked out with -another- mutual friend is that they're trying to hunt her character down because she's a member of an influential family who fled to avoid submitting to brainwashing. Which is how this character can do Arcanima in the first place. I'd played around with the idea of having him be a Thaumaturge, then nixed it because my friend's going to be one, who used some sort of Magitek device to simulate Thamaturgy, but I don't think the same logic would work for Arcanima. So no pure blooded Garlean heritage. ((And to be quite honest, from a completely OOC standpoint, I want to play a healer/support person. I like the idea of coordinating attacks with the DPS instead of trying to out-flash them, and the idea of a Lalafell tank is somewhat hilariously adorable))
  22. ... Wow, I think I love all of you guys. This thread has really opened me to a lot of ideas, including some that I've since incorporated into RP. As I have it now, and keep in mind this is liable to change, is that this character is a Scholar (A bit more neutral, healing - essentially - through arcane geometry) who passes as a Conjurer when doing some of his Imperial work; I've had him mention how difficult it is to handle Stone, Fluid Barrier and other Conjurer/WHM exclusive abilities. Though that raises a whole 'nother can of worms, when one wonders whether Scholars are exclusively from Nym? It seems like any place that has access to Arcanima and Conjury would be able to pull it off, but the background lore goes into rather exhaustive detail about Nym. Which, from what I can understand, is still around and not an Imperial territory... Unless the only thing really stopping Eorzeans from attempting to turn their cloaks is this sort of universal hatred of the Garlean Empire... Would it be possible for someone from Nym, possibly under duress, perhaps not, to ally with the enemy and thus bring over knowledge exclusive to one location? I know my friend wants to play a Dragoon, something that's apparently Ishguard - exclusive, but at the same time... if Garlean had some way to learn the mechanics of it, they could make good use of soldiers designed to fight dragons. Any thoughts?
