Hi, guys! I have an official start date for an RP event that I am running. And it's already begun so sign up! ^__^
While this is a Driftwood Coast housing fund event, it's also a really great way for you to meet someone new, randomly determined, to RP with that you might not have otherwise met as well as a specific environment and cause for the encounter (that your characters can then use as the catalyst for conversation)
Xifang is a lazy troublemaker so there is a 50/50 chance you'll get set up on a great date or you'll get set up on a lousy one. I'm hoping this is hilarious regardless and look forward to meeting you!

Q: Can I just show up on the day of the event to sign up?
A: Nope. There is no "day of the event". This event goes through February. Each customer gets signed up for a date time and place individually. It will be different for all people involved.
Q. Why does it cost money?
A. Several reasons. First, the money goes to the housing fund. Second, it let's us know how popular the event is. Three, paying money makes it more likely that those who sign up will show up to their dates. The event doesn't work if lots of people get stood up and I don't want that to be a risk.
Q. I am in your Free Company. Can't I just donate the money directly to Driftwood Coast if I am a member and not pay for the event?
A. I won't be doing pair ups until I have notice of the money from people. I'm not going to track every 2000 gil donation into the FC Chest. If you pay me or Kyndle (preferably Kyndle) I will know that it is the sign up fee for the event and know that I can start pairing you.
Q. My character wouldn't do this, but I really want to do it. How do I make that work?
A. I am optimistic that we can find a way. The event is mostly for comedy, but also just for a new venue and a catalyst for RP. Ask someone to sign you up behind your character's back. Sign your character up yourself, but OOC. If you want to sign your character up for the event OOCly tell me that in a PM and bypass the IC survey if you like. This is a fun opportunity to get characters behaving mischievously by signing their friends up or by putting their own characters in an awkward situation.
Q. Can I sign up a character without asking the player?
A. No. If the player might not like you doing this, do not do it. Characters behaving badly is fun, but it's not fun to do something to a player that they would not appreciate.
Q. My character wouldn't do this. I agreed to be signed up but I'm not going to go to the date. Is that Ok?
A. No, not really, because that is discourteous to the person you are paired with. If you do not think your character will go to the event at all, please do not sign up.
Q. Is this actually a cafe or a doctor's office? I saw art that looked like it.
A. No. That art was just silly P.R. of Crimson in different costumes so I could make puns about "love". There is no one location for the event.
Q. Can I be specific about who I want to be paired up with?
A. Yes. If you are specific on the IC Survey, Crimson will likely ignore it. If you are specific on the OOC survey that I send you, I will consider it. If the two of you have already decided you want to RP ending up on a blind date together and both of you say as much on the OOC survey, I will make that happen. I like to imagine I am a nicer person than my character.
Q. Can I pick race, age, gender, height, hair color, etc of my potential date?
A. Read above. If it is put on the IC survey, Crimson is not likely to pay attention.... If it is on the OOC survey I will try to keep it in mind, but you may be disappointed. I can only pair you with the people who sign up. I can't guarantee that level of specificity. You can always help by getting that perfect someone to sign up with you....
Q. What is the love consultation?
A. If you pay 5,000 gil instead of the standard 2,000 gil, you can sign up for Xifang or one of her love assistants to meet you in game for RP. They will give you advice on how to go on a date and general romance tips. It's possible it'll be good advice! It's also fairly likely it'll be very silly, bad advice. That money also goes to the housing fund.
Q. I am not in Driftwood Coast. Why should I do this?
A. This is an opportunity to RP with someone new and meet someone new. If you do the consultation, you might meet several new people to RP with. By signing up, you're helping to make more RP connections on Gilgamesh. That's a noble and worthy cause!
