In FFXI, goblin names ending in -ix are male (Fickblix) and those ending in -ox are female (Leadavox). It would be easy to carry that over to FFXIV. So Sweetnix Rosycheeks is a guy then?

For Those Who Want to Be Family or Connected to the Story...
Entity replied to Entity's topic in RP Discussion
BTW this does not mean I do not have time for anyone else! If anyone else would like to participate with the same character or one of the others in some way, let me know and I'll see what I can do. Whatever RP time is not spent RPing with someone is time that could be spent with another! =] -
So who's to say we can't see some in-game nobility attempt some little power plays? :3 Problem with that, which I still feel is a looming problem in RP (and I've seen it before in other games I've played) Is that such a concept is one of power, and to be a lame-o quoting it, "with great power comes great responsibility." There's not a lot out there that can develop that kind of power responsibly with regards to interacting with other people and creating a versatile story. It ties easily into godmoding, or maybe as I'd like to call it "superman-ing" if one is not careful. That's why I consider those who add in consequences and weaknesses to their story more appealing, because they invite challenges and changes that really put a story together and give other people a chance to influence or change it for the better. Like I said, unless they're hiding from me or I don't know them, there's not a lot of people who can create power like that without becoming ignorant of the other players, even worse so, when the creator does not elect to fill in the details, or explain all the elements they choose to have in their concepts. I say don't start on a subject you have no idea of how to create and develop, or you're not going to be able to explain (OOCly) without breaking too many important elements in either the world you're in, or the world you yourself created.

Actually, with the FC Housing, you could round up some willing participants and kind of pull it off. =P

For Those Who Want to Be Family or Connected to the Story...
Entity replied to Entity's topic in RP Discussion
Alright awesome! I've been wondering when I might have a chance to use Eterna! ^^ I sent you a PM for the details and setups ^^ -
Well I'm not talking about Ul'dahn nobility by itself, I'm talking more about nobility in general and/or as a whole. Like I said I don't play chars involved with nobility very often so I don't have much experience with that kind of subject, assuming the kind of "nobility" we are talking about here is frilly dresses, sophisticated presentation, proper etiquette, etc., or I don't know if the roles some of them play could be considered nobility. When I think about these kinds of things in a character, I tend to use concepts and words more like "heir" or "taking his/her father's/mother's place," "taking on the burden of the family," "becoming the next legacy down the generation..." terms like that. Emiiresa deals with wanting to learn about someone in her family, and eventually, hoping to become like and even surpass that family member. Another character is both apprehensive and confused about how she should carry on a legendary trait that dwells within her from one side of her family. Finally another character chose to runaway from responsibility, not wanting to become next in line to lead something that a family member controls. I'm not sure if those would fall under this particular subject, but I don't feel like it does...otherwise, correct me if I'm wrong. If these are different concepts in itself from nobility then I guess I don't really know as much about nobility as I thought, otherwise I really just consider those kind of concepts above as a typical familial happening or a "rite of passage" within the family, rather than just being "nobility." That said, can nobility ONLY be defined by wealth, or is that only because of that's how the game has defined and shaped the concept out to be?

"What REALLY matters is having fun. If creating characters that are consistent with the game world is not fun to you then, well, it is not fun to you and all discussions about lore will be useless as far as you are concerned. The reason those discussions exist, however, is because some of us like to create characters and stories that can fit properly in the world. And for that we have to know where the limits are. " Oh, by no means am I saying it cannot be fun. You want to be able to enjoy what you create, so when someone or something limits that that is NOT part of the ground rules set by the world you're in, it becomes a problem, especially when there are others who are connected to what you created. I'm not sure, I think I got lost in my own words lol, I think the line between what can be in the game and what can be in a story disappeared in my explanation, and I started talking from a universal standpoint. But yeah, to be terse, If there are a set of rules in a story you are taking part of, then yes, it would be best to follow them unless you have permission to do otherwise. It's always important to have fun, because it's a game, and people are here to enjoy themselves. For me all I'm saying is, when you're creating a story and character, don't do it halfway through and just drop off all the details. If you love to write and create, there should be no problems with going the distance and covering anything and everything about your character, both when you make it and as you go along, before you take "leaps and bounds."

Lets see...I've been drawing since I was 8, and writing stories since I was in...4th-5th grade? Though back then it was all about Sonic fanfics, because I had such an obsession with Sonic back then. But then a good friend of mine showed me anime and that's when things changed for me almost entirely, and I wound making more original stories since anime had more room for creativity as a pose to using both a style and setting that was already implemented. Eventually I got more interested in making characters after I spent enough time playing the FF series along with other RPG franchises. Of course, this doesn't mean I disposed of the characters I make before then. I simply rehashed them (if that's the term to use for this description) and turned them into something more original rather than being based off of a style and world that already exists, and just went from there. I grabbed all the ideas I came up with in my fanfics and recycled them into something I could use and create on my own. Took a lot of work, but I'm glad I did it. As I got older I found it a little hard to connect with these characters in a real genuine way, and that's when the genre of melodrama, conflict, and struggle gave me an idea. Not only did I see it fitting to provide them with ample challenges that would always keep them on their own feet, but also I felt it even more enterprising to give them their own faults and difficulties (this is when I started to hate characters like Superman), so as to make them more believable as a character you can bond or connect with. The final step in my means to creating my characters didn't come until college, when I learned more about my favorite anime's creators and how they created THEIR characters. What I found is that in many of them, they often put a piece of themselves into the character they made, making it easier for them to create the character as well as their entire being and develop upon it as they went through the world and story they were placed in. Since discovering that, almost all of my characters, both ones that already had existed as well as ones I make, all have some small or large part of myself that allows me to have more fun with my character and really generate them down to the very core of their being. Yes, creating a character CAN get pretty complex, depending on how much work you want to put into it. However, like I said in another post, you also can't love what you create too much, because at that point one tends to go outside the limitations and rules one set for their own character, which to me just sounds so bad. Don't be afraid to kill off your characters, I think if it is done right, and done gracefully, people won't forget your character so easily, whether they're a hero, villain, or vagrant/vagabond, etc. As far as RP goes, I have not done it as long as some people here, but it was an easy thing for me to get into because I would always act out my characters (when no one was looking, lol.) to get a feel for who they are. It was because of a friend I met in Aion who got me to come out of the closet and try out RP that I started to see storywriting and character development in a new light. RP makes you realize pretty quickly that, if you really want to go somewhere with what you make, RP is one such example of the kind of environment you may wind up in when working with a company or a group of people on creating a story, or world. It teaches you about interaction, compromise, and sacrifice. I say sacrifice for the same reason why it's okay to kill off characters. Learning about interaction allows you the luxury of personalizing your character, and really getting to know and figure out how your character responds to influences and contact with other people. Learning about compromise is being able to agree upon a certain outcome or turn of events, and preparing oneself to adapt to the changes that can occur with not just your character, but the world your character is in as well as the interactions you make. Finally, learning sacrifice, it allows you to be able to move on with a story without having to constantly depend on the characters you've had for a long time, or "become obsessed" with your character and story. It's being able to end a character's journey or life and pave the way for a new plethora, world, and future, of characters to come, be they yours, theirs, or characters created together. This is but a small breadth of what RP communities have taught me about character creation and story development. Gosh, I always have a penchant for writing a lot in my posts. But to put it simply? A good character to me is one that tells a little bit about the creator, is faced with challenges, and can come face to face with sacrifice and compromise, or something that can potentially change and even end their life, which is the ultimate challenge of making a character, in my opinion. Also, to add to that, a character that is capable of having a lasting effect on an audience, be it good or bad, even in death. That is what my routine of characters are like. I'm not sure if I answered your question, but I hope you found this response helpful, lol.

Well, interesting post here, especially since I'm usually not one to play characters with nobility. But really, to try and remain unbiased and assess both sides of the situation, in a world of something like RP, it doesn't matter how rich you are. It doesn't matter how powerful you are. It doesn't matter how skilled you are. Does not even matter how competent, stupid, prissy, sophisticated, or whatever adjective you want to use to describe yourself, you are. What I believe RP comes down to is the same thing that comes down to a good story or movie...good writing. You could be the most powerful noble or whatever it's called in the game, but if it doesn't make sense to everyone else well, you're not only not going to get any attention for it, it probably means you're doing something wrong, not in the sense that you are playing your character wrong, but in the sense that the way you are writing things out may not make sense. Now with that said, I don't really like following the bandwagon, because to me that's just boring and I feel it's much better to start your own thing if you WANT to, rather than just do what everyone else is doing, because that is a form of indifference, which leaves little room for diversity and creativity. I think what people forget is that they can talk all day about how something works or how something "should be done," but that in itself is limiting, especially in a universe that's not real. Just because it is nobility that means there has to be etiquette, or some form of dress or attire? That's a limiting factor, and just by that alone you may turn people away. Nobility to one person could mean fancy dresses, pretty makeup, and sophisticated hairstyles, but nobility to someone ELSE could mean being a master of weapons, or commanding an entire militia, or being something of a Shogun, for example, which, to me, sounds a WHOLE lot cooler, but that's my personal opinion, because I've always preferred the "warrior princess" persona in things like this. Now if you're INTO dressing up and looking fancy then by all means, but don't imply that THAT is the "proper" concept of a word or term, especially in a game. That's putting realism into a game, and last I checked I thought people came on to ESCAPE reality. After all, it's like SE says "Escape reality, live the fantasy." (I think that's right, lol.) But, keeping RL elements out of a discussion about a game, people argue so much about what should be and what shouldn't be they forget what REALLY matters, and that's having the capabilities required to create something that is accessible to all, or at the very LEAST, make sense enough for people to understand and realize what it is. What people ALSO forget is that when words like "should" are used in a response, without even MENTIONING the subject yet you are already limiting a person's experience, unless it is referring to something the creators of the universe have implemented, which, if I may add, is a bit flawed, especially many of the class and job quests, but that is my own opinion. Lets walk away from the subject of nobility for a bit. When you create a character or story, many things come into play. When you create a character, you have to think: What is their name? Do they HAVE a name? If they HAVE a name, where does it come from? Is there any meaning behind the name? WHY were they named this way? Does this have any bearing on the world around them? Does their name give any kind of hint as to who they are? How old are they? When were they born? HOW were they born? For what REASON were they born? Is HOW they were born have an effect on the world around them? What have they done in their lives so far? Have they made any connections during their life or WILL they make connections later on? How do they look? WHY do they look that way? Is it because of family genetics? Is it because of some underlying force or power that they look the way they do? Is it a defect? Is it something passed down a generation or group of people? Does it affect others, or rather, CAN it affect others [if given the privilege, not RIGHT, beforehand]? What is their conflict? Does their conflict involve the universal story or just their own? Does it involve other people? Does it cause people to act a certain way towards you? Does it cause YOUR character to act a certain way towards other people? Is it an internal or external conflict? Is it something that will be dealt all throughout the remainder of their lives or is it something that can be overcome, whether by yourself in time or with the help of others? Are there consequences to your actions (because I feel that should be necessary in SOME way or form, which is why I don't like characters like Superman, characters like Superman piss me the hell off, which is why I believe in keeping things like godmoding out lol, unless there's a valid means or reason for it, which I myself doubt, but again that's another subject that's based on my opinion.) or does something happen to you when you do this thing or that? Does your character adhere to society, and if not, what likely happens to him/her or what do they do, or intend to do if they are treated accordingly for not doing so, if adhering to society is required (because mind you, not EVERY place has a form of society or balance. This is why there are cults, hovels, areas of lawlessness, etc., so adhering to society is not NECESSARY OR mandatory, in my opinion, unless it's in a universe where there is a set rule or guideline in place by the CREATORS of said universe, not the people who inhabit it, because AGAIN, it is an non-restrictive limiting factor, or it's something that limits people's ability to be creative.)? Do they prefer order, or disorder? Are they evil? Are they good? Are they neutral? Do they give a damn(This is why I admire Fable's alignment system, because it gives players not only a way to be creative, but really dive in and know just what their choices in the game will do to their immersion and how their character will grow and be affected, and not just "follow the will of so-and-so and abide by them," but again, opinion.). What is the character's story? Where is their place in it? What is the objective? Is there a main idea? Is there a hook? Who is considered the protagonist, or in this case, are there others who can be considered protagonists in the story? Is there an antagonist(s) or is there room for one to surface? What is their role in the story and how much power do they have in it? What is the point in the story? Is there a beginning, middle, and end? Is there some point of climax? What KIND of story is it? Is it one of action? Romance? Comedy? Tragedy? Power struggle? Is it a story about fate? Is it a story about DEFYING fate? Will the character die? HOW will they die? WHY do they die? What happens as a result of this occurrence, or any occurrence? Why do these things happen to the character? What is the story's influence on the world around it? Can others influence the direction of the story(Which is kind of an important question considering you're playing with well over 1million other people with stories of their own, and if you're not going to open up your story, than there's really not too much of a point to RP it out. That said I know that can be difficult especially if you have things planned out, but sometimes it's good for you to let others in and possibly have some influence on it, because at some point we all work with someone and we have to learn to get along with them in order to make something great and/or successful, because we all have flaws and there could be people out there who compliment them with their own strengths, as with yours, i.e. someone who can play a sophisticated character when your strength lies in characters that "fight first, ask questions later.")? Can the story be continued by someone else or is that where it ends? Many many things go into a character and story, and I feel some people don't realize that. A subject like nobility, or any subject for that matter, isn't determined by what SHOULD be or SHOULDN'T be that ISN'T explained OR created by the ones who MADE the game as canon, it is determined by your ability to create it as well as knowing HOW to create it and manage it in such a way that people can not only understand it, but be allowed to take part in it if they choose to and are allowed to. After all, you are creating something AND someone for millions of people to see and have a chance to interact with, knowing that you have to expect what can and, fortunately AND unfortunately, will happen. You have to be prepared for consequences and mishaps and make the necessary measures to combat many different situations, and that is not easy. Writing a truly genuine story with a genuine set of characters takes a lot of work and commitment, and a lot of times people drop the ball or leave out important details thinking it won't affect anything, when in fact leaving out the SMALLEST things have the potential to cause problems, and that's saying nothing of creating a story that allows for open interaction. You are playing an MMO, a game genre that is all about nothing but interaction. You have to consider all the possibilities, variables, and outcomes that are entailed with the story and characters you create in an RP community, otherwise, when a problem arises, you won't know how to combat or solve it, and before you know it, people will argue and problems will arise, a reason why I really hate ret'cons...in my opinion I find it a little cowardly, but I understand why it has to be done in some situations. I joined the RP community because I love to write stories and make characters, and I think RPing is an EXCELLENT way to practice at it and become better at from the experience. I play MMOs because I love the feel of being in another world that is not reality, and being someone else that you enjoy being. When you are up against other people who love to write and create, sooner or later there may come a time when you may start to work together with them, and BOTH sides have to respect the others preferences and elements, while understanding each others weaknesses and strengths, and possibly do what you can to help each other out and compliment those weaknesses. This is how you can create something great, and something that not just you yourself enjoys, but something everyone has the opportunity to be a part of as well. Now, with that said, RPing is just like being an artist...often it's not best to love your work too much. If you have to move on, move on. Try to obey the very limits and rules you yourself set for your own character. If you love your characters too much one tends to "kick down those rules" and totally ignore the entire framework you laid out for yourself, causing unwanted things to happen, like godmoding, for instance, and you start to lose that genuine trait of the story and character you had in the beginning. It hurts to have to leave a character or kill them, but it happens all the time in stories, and it's a choice you have to be willing to make if such a thing has to happen, for whatever reason. That said, having other people do that job is another story, and I do agree that having consent is a required thing before such steps can be taken. It's pretty much like asking if you can tear out a page from your friend's book, so like I said, it's important to be mindful of other people's feelings and preferences. On that note, it's unfortunate to have to say, but not everyone will agree to what you put on the table, especially if you're aren't going to allow for any wiggle room or influence to the elements and concepts you have set up. They will either ignore you, or simply tell you you do not control them, and they are right on that. NO one in this kind of setting controls anyone at any given time. It is not a RIGHT, it is either a privilege or something that's agreed upon, and no player has the power to do that. That said, I don't really know anyone for that matter who is even responsible enough to handle something like that without letting it go to their head, or abusing it. Hence why one needs to be mindful of people's feelings and preferences. One doesn't have to acknowledge someone's character or story if they aren't a part of it, just as they don't have a right to be a part of it if they aren't allowed or do not have a permission, but I DO believe it's important to acknowledge that they are there, and part of the RPC community, who also has their own idea and way of doing things. To acknowledge is to be aware that, other people have ideas, and they want to share them with everyone just as much as you do. The world doesn't revolve round you. Not everyone is a good writer, nor does that have to be the case. Everyone comes here with a different level of writing ability, whether it's just as good as yours, worse than yours, or better than yours. That is why I feel like RP in this kind of setting is perfect for people who love to write. You're able to create your own story and character and actually put it OUT there and interact it as though it's actually a part of the universe you share it in. Sure, in a lot of cases your writing may need work, but that's why you're here, with all sorts of other people, so you can learn, and be better for the experience. It really kind of annoys me that people feel like they have to bring "should" statements and RL concepts into a game of fantasy, despite a game that often takes elements from the RL. But that itself does not mean that a game's concepts have to adhere to RL concepts, just because it LOOKS like RL. All that does is unnecessarily limit people's creativity, and that's just about the worse thing you can do to an artist or writer. We are, for the most part, here to ESCAPE RL, to just bring it in with us is, well, detrimental to our having a good experience, and it's an easy way to start a fight. But more importantly, as an RPer, as a WRITER, you have to consider every possibility possible when you create and bring your ideas up into a world of people just like you in that sense. In my honest opinion, a person who loves to write has no problems taking the time to assess as many possibilities, paths, and variables as they possibly can, is able to make choices they may not WANT to make for the betterment of both themselves and those around them, and "enjoys" their work but not "obsess" over their work, if you know what I mean by that statement. There's always going to be times where we might have to make a choice we don't want to make, but if we can get past that, we'll be that much prepared for what comes afterwards. Whew, that's alot. AAAAANYWAY That's my two cents, sorry if I seemed to have gotten off-topic here, but I'm sure you all can tell just how much I take this kind of subject seriously. But yeah, that's all I wanted to say. ^^

For Those Who Want to Be Family or Connected to the Story...
Entity replied to Entity's topic in RP Discussion
Heyas thnx for replying! I only have his age recorded back when he was little roaming the streets of Ul'dah, so not sure how old he would be now. If I had to make a choice, I think he'll probably be about 19-20, most likely 20 by now. Now that I think about Eterna, he's likely a very naïve person given that he follows the code of his family much more committedly than his brother did, maybe even his parents, and that this code is not universal and is only a result of him being in Ul'dah. That said it ties more with his naivety and inexperience with the world outside of Ul'dah, so someone who could get him to explore and learn more about the world outside would be an interesting thing! Though if Wynn is the type to LIKE to get into trouble if it's tempting enough, Eterna might be against that, given his very high moral standing. But yeah, I have not started on him for lack of people able to mesh with his storyline, but if you're really up for it I can start committing to him! ^^ Oh before I forget, would Wynn be the "girl from when he was younger" in question? Or just someone he meets? It would tell me if Wynn is someone Eterna knows or it's just someone he meets along the way. -
So I read a few posts on this thread and I had no idea there's actually people who WANT to volunteer to be a legit and strong tie/part of a character's family! That really sounds like fun, considering that now that I've been developing Emiiresa's story more as well as Lydahn's(my second main)and Ellerierre's(my third main), I realize I'm not going to be able to play (even less so create) each and every character involved in their stories. If I could I likely would, but that would be way too tedious, plus I'm limited to 8, haha. It's hard enough keeping track of 4-5 different characters and their stories. Which brings me to the reason for this post! Since reading a certain post on here, I decided I would post a similar post asking for those who would be interested at all in playing as a relative or even a close friend or companion in one of my character's stories. I think the experience would make for much needed motivation for one thing, plus I think something like that would be fun, and it would be a way to meet other RPers who need or want an idea for their character, or to make one! Emiiresa, to start, now has a pretty big family tree size due to some discoveries, and 3 of her most recent relatives happen to still be alive, one she is still looking for, but still contemplating on whether that one should be alive. As for the other two, they are both still very much alive, and are considered to be Emiiresa's grandparents on her mother's side. Not sure how many there are out there that are okay with playing an older couple with a lalafellin granddaughter though, lol. That said, Emiiresa's race is pretty diverse for a lalafell, so she's often called a "mutt" of sorts by those in Ul'dah. She herself is half Dunesfolk, part Plainsfolk, and part Ala Mhigan. Her Dunesfolk side comes from her father, while her Plainsfolk and Ala Mhigan side come from her mother. Her mother is half-dominant Plainsfolk and half Ala Mhigan. HER mother is full Plainsfolk, while her father is half Ala Mhigan and half Hellsguard, though that gene does not carry over into the family. On her mother's side, Emiiresa's grandmother's name is Yhukubi Kubi, while her grandfather's name is Agetharus Ironfist. I have Emiiresa's family tree developed over two more generations after them, so there's plenty of room for those who want to participate. Also, since her family is so diverse, how you create their lives and story is up to you, though I will give you the base of Agetharus and Yhukubi in a PM should you want to volunteer. ^^ Her story has now led her into Camp Overlook since she now endeavors to learn and soon master the rest of her Alchemy, so she still won't touch base with the Ala Mhigans as of yet. Meanwhile, Lydahn Falahann(my second main which is a Roegadyn), other than her PC companions, found out awhile ago that her retainer is actually a friend of the family, and once served under her late mother as an assistant/maid. This part can be playable for those interested. Due to a volunteer wanting to be part of Lyda's story, however, Lydahn may or may not have a sibling or close relative. If you want her father to be alive you'll have to convince me; I currently have him pegged as dead, though there is open possibility for him still being alive, should you have a convincing means. Lydahn's family consists of many generations of the Warrior, with the exception of her mother's family, which is a family of Hellsguard that is experienced with magic, however the expertise does not carry into Lydahn's abilities and thus, is no good at magic. Lydahn's dominant race however, which is Hellsgaurd, is tied more with mother's. Lydahn, much like her father and his father and beyond, is born with a gem called the "Dragonheart," a fragment of corrupted energy/aether said to be a fragment of Bahamut's own power. This phenomenon started long ago in the family line, but with Lydahn's grandfather, he learned to seal it away entirely (which I will explain if you're interested), locking it away from further use or growth. Her father, on the other hand, decided it best to tap into its power and learn to control and master it in order to gain immeasurable power as a Warrior. However, using the Dragonheart poses very high risks, and must not be taken lightly. It is also important to note that, as the Dragonheart passes on from one generation to the next, the gem becomes more engrained and fused with the host's body and spirit, making it harder to extract/seal away. That said, after the Calamity her father never returned from Carteneau. A body was never found, and it was eventually believed he was presumed dead. Lydahn was born a day after the Calamity, after her mother fled Limsa and Ul'dah into Coerthas. I will enlighten on details for those who are interested in this story, but those who are well-affiliated with or study dragons have full access to Dragonheart's knowledge without actually having to know Lydahn IC. =] Ellerierre Arislaunde, my third main, an Elezen, is basically a runaway, deciding to abandon her responsibilities as the heir to not only a vast fortune in Ishgard but also a militia in which her father is still currently leading, and expects her to take control when she comes of age. Until then, however, she does not have access to her father's fortunes, and thus must make her own profits on her own until she decides to return. One thing to take of note is that Ellerierre, as well as her father, owned a personal guard whose Captains, Theolinius and Elevide Falahann, happen to still be alive in Coerthas. She also has an adopted sister she has not heard from since the executions/inquisition in Coerthas had begun (I was planning on keeping her untouched until RDM would come out, if it does come at all, which would be the reason to have her return. Otherwise, she would be an Arcanist.), in which she had believed she was "executed" along with her stepmother during the unjust Dravanian trials, her adopted sister's mother. Ellerierre's own story still progresses even without this happening, it would just be a means to continue her story further, though if anyone has a good idea for her adopted sister then I'd be glad to hear it (She is originally supposed to return having learned a new art of magic in a distant land during her absence.)! Also, Ellerierre has a passionate ambition to become a fashion designer, seeking to become a master Leatherworker as well as a Weaver, so being a student of both, to those who want to have an apprentice, whether it's in WVR, LTW, or both, I'm open for that ^^ My fourth main, Eterna Aihmstrae, is a Hyuran Midlander whose family is a long line of Paladins, known as the Aihmstrae Paladins, who have worked under the Sultanate for generations. Though it seems part of the family's own morals and sense of justice and chivalry have become a little twisted due to the recent state of Ul'dah, Eterna has remained steadfast and true to the original oaths that the family had always stood by as Paladins, and hopes to emulate the true nature of one who fights for their people, and puts their lives down for what's right, rather than what betters their own motives and those of the corrupt. His best friend is a Miqo'te by the [birth]name of Sun'kiba Tia, but is named Skiverisan Zillith by his adoptive father, who's a well-off Carpenter. Eterna also has an older brother by the name of Falchira Aihmstrae, who is almost like Eterna's opposite, but still looks out for him when they're young. When they are old enough to be on their own, Falchira disappears in search of his own path, seeking to come back with a means to change Ul'dah for the better(I don't have a character made for Falchira since the job he would be isn't out, and not sure if it will BE out, unless, like with Ellerierre's sister, you have an idea, in which we can discuss about.=] ) There was also a girl Eterna developed a small crush on when they were little named Wynn Rockwell (Have a friend occupying this role now! ^^), and in time it wound up as a competiton between Eterna and his brother on who could impress her the most. When they were little Wynn seemed to be more impressed with Falchira rather than Eterna, who seemed to always be in his brother's shadow at the time. Eterna has not seen Wynn since then, until recently that is, when Eterna was sent by his father to venture out from Ul'dah to explore Eorzea, much to Eterna's dissatisfaction, and Wynn happened to catch sight of him just before leaving. Together they traveled to Limsa Lominsa, where Eterna has his first view of the outside world. For the time being he has remained in Limsa Lominsa since his recent revisit to Ul'dah, having learned of a rumor that Falchira was in Ul'dah for a time. Wynn and Eterna also had an argument which has left the two estranged since. To those still interested in Eterna's story, I have added 3-4 more spots in his flashback/backstory, all of which are during a time in which Eterna and Wynn were escaping from a bad situation near the Chamber of Rule, though none tied to his family. Just let me know if you're interested and I'll fill you in on the details! ^^ Finally, my 5th main, Sun'kiba Tia (pronounced "Soon-Keebuh")/Skiverisan Zillith, or just "Skiver," as he nicknames himself, is a Miqo'te who was born in the deserts of Thanalan, but grew up in Ul'dah and, together with N'eimanu Achuuk, was raised by a traveling Carpenter from Gridania. They were raised to consider each other siblings, but they are not directly related by blood. While Sun'kiba prefers to lead a solitary lifestyle away from his roots, N'eimanu is more family-oriented, and wants to do everything she can to restore her tribe's honor and pride, as she later learns of what's become of the new tribe created from her and Sun'kiba's elders. I have N'eimanu in Hyperion, but considering everything above, I will likely not have room to put her in Balmung with everyone else, so the position for N'eimanu is open ^^. Growing up with his adoptive father, Sun'kiba grew to like the wandering lifestyle, and with his father's fisherman and Carpenter lifestyle, he grew to love it even more than the life he left behind before meeting him. His adoptive father is still very much alive, and currently lives in Limsa Lominsa, where he spends his days as a fisherman and Carpenter by trade, so far doing well [enough] for himself. This position is also open for grabs. However he MUST be a Hyur Midlander. His last name is Zillith but the first name is up to you =] . It looks like THF/NIN is coming to XIV fairly soon, so I'll be playing this char in the near future! If anyone is interested in this storyline let me know! But yeah, if any of these 5 storylines interests you in anyway, let me know and we can set something up! Also, due to some recent developments in Lydahn and Emiiresa's story, my LS "ouRPlayground" may be going officially IC soon, though receiving the linkpearl can only be achieved if you have good standing with Emiiresa as an associate or seeker of the magic arts. Just in case, however, I DO have an OOC LS alternate called "ouRPardon," if you are still contemplating about it. The link in my signature will point you to a little bit of Emiiresa's background as well as story. The others I do not have in written form, but I'll be more than happy to elaborate in a PM if you're interested! I will be putting Lydahn's story in a wiki in the near future, however, so eventually Lydahn's story will be up for full access as well!

Play ALL THE THINGS! - Avoiding the Mary Sue Trap
Entity replied to Steel Wolf's topic in RP Discussion
When I think about something like Arcanima and grimoires, I think of magic being used as a ultility, instead of just "having the gift" like with Thaumaturgy and Conjury. The way I've worked Emiiresa's explanations about arcanima IC, it is composed of not just having the gift of great amounts of aether and/or magic, it is being able to use one's mental and intellectual capacities and abilities to voluntarily influence or alter and transform it to one's needs, so I feel Arcanima depends more on the person rather than the magic itself. Carbuncle, for instance, is really just aether given form through mental and intellectual conceptualization. I don't really consider "forming a bond" with the creature to be important in doing this. When you deal with Summoner and Scholar, especially Scholar, it is really about strategizing and altering the geometries and aether to suit your situation, and most of those geometries come from the grimoires Arcanists use, as shown by the pictures in the books. Emiiresa learns a fairly large majority of her Summoning and Scholar skills through the grimoires. I take into account that, since they're books, there's information to be read in each and every one of them, information which helps her to become a masterful Arcanist. In my opinion, I believe that arcanima involves taking aether, regardless of the amount, and shaping it into the desired structure using one's own imagination and intellect to do so. To me you're more dependent on your intellect and creativity as well as what you learn from reading the grimoires rather than JUST magic and aether. Things like Conjury and Thaumaturgy, on the other hand, I would consider to be more tailored to "having the gift," or having the ability to mainly channel magic and aether, because all you're doing as a Black Mage and a White Mage is casting and throwing spells, it's not as complex as Arcanima where you're taking aether and turning it into several different things. It's why Arcanists have a diverse set of spells, while Black Mage and White Mage are focused on one type of magic, and channel it through their weapons and in some cases, whether OOC or IC, even their body. Again, this is shown in the Conjurer storyline, in which Sylphie's mother used her own life force to heal(Of course that's not exactly the best means of healing, as it puts the user at a serious risk unless their lifeforce is enormous). Again, all Emiiresa does IC when it comes to things like White Mage is just gathering however much aether she needs and, using her weapon as a medium, channeling it into energy that heals. Hmm...to put it one way, it could be akin to comparing kinetic energy, which derives more from the natural, with mechanical energy, which is synthetic, or man-made, and requires more effort on our part. -
SPOILERS RAWR You know I haven't done them all yet T_T Really is that Loonh Gah you didn't say T_T The band of mercenaries who took down Titan named the Company of Heroes tell you that they used the Kobold aetheryte to go in and defeat him. Involves the very long series of quests including the imposter, Brayflox, wine, and a feast. I'm pretty sure that they do not have the Echo. I'm still curious as to how a blind Lalafell beat Titan >_> <_< Actually I think his blinding was a RESULT of him fighting Titan, he wasn't BORN Blind after all.

Oh and, in case people are wondering, the hair done in my first commission is NOT Vector (Don't even know how you "vector" hair anyways =P ). Every single strand you see in there was done individually using the pen tool. Just to solve any misunderstanding since I've gotten a couple of assumptions and questions. =]
-
-
And here is your picture, Xieveral! If you're up for another commission just ask! Hope you like it! ^^ (If you want a full-size manageable file just send me an e-mail, apparently I couldn't attach the full-size version unless there's a way to do it, in which case I don't know >.<)
-
Xieveral, I finished your drawing. If you want me to ink it like the picture above I mentioned I'll get started =] Otherwise if you really want me to I can try and traditionally ink it. I'll be waiting for your response!
-
Sure! The inked versions are usually done in Photoshop, with the Pen Tool. It's been years since I've done a traditional ink since discovering that method lol. That said, the photoshop inking is MUCH more clean than if I were to do it traditionally. It would look very much like the 5th picture in my second post, if that's something you're alright with. But if you REALLY would rather have a traditional INK I can do that for you, it'll just be the cost of a pencil sketch but a little more.

And still more... 1.---Blue(Full Body Color) IN PROGRESS--- 2.---Valirelia Ferox(Full Body Color)--- 3.---Solas Claritas--- *Depending on workflow as this goes on, more spots may open or become available. *Roegadyn and Lalafells now get a 25% discount! I'd like to see more of our Lalas and Roes!

*COMMISSIONS ARE CURRENTLY FULL, Leave PM Requests please! ^^ Hellos, this is Emiiresa Abilyne/Lydahn Falahann/Ellerierre Arislaunde from Balmung. I'm not surprised that I'm not the only one who thought to try their hand at commissions for gil for Housing. After seeing a couple of nice Houses, I want to have my own for a future FC in the making, so for the first time in my life, I'm opening up commissions, except this one will be through gil! I'm still not confident in my artstyle just yet to be charging real money; the artists and designers I look up to are much better than I am, so I have a lot to strive for as well as to improve on. That said don't be afraid to make more specific requests. I'm always up for a challenge or something new, as it expands my capabilities and what I can do. That said, however, for the time being I'm just going to do single-character drawings (one character in a single drawing), whether it's busts, headshots, portraits, full body shots, etc., and for those who prefer one over the other, I can do traditional, digital, or a combination of both, your choice, and inked, pencil, sketchy, etc. I'm a little unsure of how well I can color my pieces...I'm still trying to find a coloring style that works for me, but if you want it colored, I'll see what I can do. Depending on how well the commissions do, I may open up to more types of drawings, like group drawings or something more complex. But for now it's single character, so we'll see where things go from here. Here are some of the starting prices for my artpieces: Headshot/Portrait(Sketch): 15,000gil Headshot/Portrait(Inked): 30,000gil Headshot/Portrait(Color): 40,000gil Bust(Sketch): 45,000gil Bust(Inked): 60,000gil Bust(Color): 70,000gil Full-Body(Sketch): 75,000gil Full-Body(Inked): 100,000gil Full-Body(Color): 125,000gil *Prices for the Full-Body selections may change for the requester depending on the detail of the reference used and preferences desired. And below here's some of my own work over the course of several years just so you know what I was and am still currently capable of as things are now:
