  1. Now that you've summoned up my 90s nostalgia (and made me hungry!), I'm sitting here trying to make Air vs Ice work. Curses! I'm wondering too, back to the lore standpoint, as to the conjurers' and hearers' views on arcanima and the harnessing of the Primals. I know about the place and reception of both as far as the whole world goes, at least to a degree, but getting specific about it helps develop my character's own views and prepare for potential choices down the road. I mean, a person could well have personal or external reasons for delving into new lines of study, but now I'm curious about conflicts similar to those with thaumaturgy. Especially since the other forms of magic don't involve drawing from the elementals. So much thinking. *shakes fist at sky*
  2. Everytime there's a thread with Conjurer or White Mage in the title I try to tell her about it so she goes to answer. Liadan caught this one first though *Snap* Darn. If that's the case I'm just going to have to start PMing Liadan directly with sad emoticons and photos of baby animals whenever I have conjurer conundrums. "Please halp.. ;__;"
  3. And reply swiftly you did! Thank you! I was feeling as much based on all of the context clues being thrown around by the game itself, but goodness knows if there was something I wasn't aware of. Must consume ALLLL the lore. *twitches*
  4. Good evening! (Or afternoon! Or morning!) I found myself musing on the subject and subsequently digging through the forums here, but have been unable to find anything concrete. Is it possible, within the realm of the game's lore, for a Conjurer to to gain an understanding of the elements "used" by a Thaumaturge? Fire, Ice, and Lightning are still forces of nature--albeit destructive ones--but I'm curious as to what Stillglade Fane and its teachings might have to say on the matter. Is it possible to learn from and harness those elements while ICly bypassing the teachings of the Thaumaturge guild and what thaumaturgy is? While I don't plan on "mapping out" Reima's IC life in Eorzea (as I'd prefer to let the world and her experiences with others shape that), I as the player have Summoner as my favorite Final Fantasy class and would love to try it out (even if only OOCly) at some point. And, with what Reima wants to learn about herself and the world, I can't say that the other DoM classes are out of the realm of possibility--I just want to make sure that no matter what happens in her "life", I can still be lore-friendly. Thank you!
  5. This is really convenient! Thank you for going forward with the idea!
  6. Thank you, everyone! (And I'm actually kind of surprised to hear about former NWN players already! That makes me nostalgic~) I can already feel myself settling into the game as far as a general understanding of its mechanics goes, but figuring everything else out is going to be pretty exciting! I'll have to be a brave girl and start poking my head into some of the high traffic roleplaying areas, soon. :moogle:
  7. Hello everyone! My name is Reima (as I'll share a name with my character), and I'm happily returning to Final Fantasy XIV after a long, necessary hiatus. I can't believe how much the game has grown since I was last able to explore Eorzea! Because I'd never gotten very far originally, I've decided to "start from scratch" with my Legacy character and am currently attempting to re-learn the ins and outs of the game. I can't stay away from the RPC, though! While I consider myself a "heavy", dedicated roleplayer with years of experience under my belt, I haven't spent much time roleplaying in the MMO scene--something I'm hoping to change! My roleplaying experiences have instead been with long-running, character-focused tabletop gaming groups, LARPing, and many years with roleplaying servers on multiplayer Neverwinter Nights (for those who are familiar with that old one!) As for Reima, in short: She's a Gridanian-born Hyur who has only recently returned to the forests that she'd remembered from her childhood. However far away she may have been from the Shroud, the girl found herself in communion with the invisible things of the world, often speaking to things that no others could see while shying away from her fellows. However awkward she may be, though, Reima remains good-spirited and bold in her curiosity, and has taken up study with the Conjurers of Gridania so as to explore her connection with the elementals and delve into the knowledge of our world's spirits. I'm a huge fan of "open" roleplaying, so if you happen to bump into Reima Awen out in the world, please feel free to say hello! I don't yet belong to a Linkshell or Free Company, but will likely put out feelers for Intermission until Reima and I stumble across something that suits her. Until we meet!
  8. I actually made it to the re-pearling right before I-- Di-did a Backstreet Boys reference just happen!? Regardless: Thank you! ^.^
  9. I feel horrid for being a "thread-necro", but I wanted to give my salutations again! The real world was terribly sneaky and assaulted me from behind (for 4d6 damage, at that) so I found myself wrenched away from Eorzea. Back into the fray as of this morning, however! I'm looking forward to talking with everyone on Intermission, and getting the hang of the game once more.
  10. Welcome! Looking forward to meeting another new player!
  11. *head pat* I still love you Puq.
  12. Welcome aboard! Looking forward to seeing you in game! Despite...being...roughly three feet away from my desk at present.
  13. Gwenneth

    Yo! :3

Welcome! And excellent point about every MMO having it's ups and downs. For that, you get a cookie. :3 I cannot promise any milk with it, however. .__.
  14. Welcome! I'm a newcomer myself, but an old player of FFXI as well (and one who's spent a lot of time in Windurst listening to Shantoto laugh whilst trying to become a right proper summoner, at that. >_O) I hope to catch you in character one day!
  15. Welcome to the RPC, Puq~! We can now be properly new and return-y together! Looking forward to seeing you in-game!
  16. Thanks for that, and I'll take you up on the Pearl! I'm already poking about at the Linkshell directory to get a good idea of what's out there, too. I feel...way too excited. It almost seems wrong.
  17. Hello, everyone! My name is Reima Awen, and I'm extremely happy to be coming back to Final Fantasy XIV! Unfortunately, because of Real World obligations, my experience with the game only lasted for a couple months after the initial beta release, but I'm amazed to see how much the game has grown since then! I feel like I've come back to the world at an ideal time, and I'm seriously excited to start fresh. Though I consider myself a serious roleplayer, and ultimately want to find myself part of a heavy RP group, I'm keeping my eyes open for a casual Linkshell to start out so that I can get myself used to the game. If you have any suggestions, I'd really appreciate them! Rumor also has it that the RPC has an OOC shell? Though perhaps I am mistaken! In the real-world, I'm a twenty-four year old computer technician who spends the majority of her time with her head in the clouds. I love to read--especially fantasy and science-fiction of all varieties--and have a general addiction to the arts as a whole. Literature, music, visual arts--you name it! Come to think of it...pretty soon I'm like to be spamming the world with my FFXIV fanart... As for my roleplaying style: As mentioned above, I consider myself a serious roleplayer, having a lot of experience in tabletop games and older online roleplaying games such as Neverwinter Nights. I tend to type a little slow at times, though, so please forgive me! ;__; I'm always up for off-the-cuff or casual roleplaying as well, so if you see Reima wandering about somewhere, feel free to say hello! She's a little shy, but really loves company once she gets to know you! I apologize for rambling on (though I feel like there's more I needed to say...) and look forward to meeting everyone; be it here on the forums, OOC in-game, or as our characters! ~Reima.
