See this WAS an area of concern for me as well. when you request the item restoration, SE is VERY adamant in letting you know that they can only restore items lost within the last TEN days. well thats BS. its jsut a disclaimer. i used the phial of fantasia on October 25th and i had it restored at the ass end of December.

WEll first and foremost, congratulations to Freelance Wizard! Stepping into the role of primary site admin is a huge responsibility and considering the selection process that went into this, i believe you've got what it takes! with that being said, this news is relatively new to me as i am new to this site still. As a new member, i can say that when i found this site, simply put - i was impressed. the structure and options down to the very code of the site is very pleasing to use and navigate. It has a large, helpful, knowledge user base and I am so pleased to see the admin preferring to step down and pass leadership rather than let the community stagnate due to admin neglect. My closing statement is: we all get burned out. its not anything to be ashamed of. You do what youve got to do in this life and thats all there is to it. With that being said, i truly hope the new admin will have the same outlook - to pass the mantle when/IF they too feel "burned out" rather than to let this wonderful thing we've got here go to waste. cheers.

If the OP is still bothered by this - i have a possible fix. Create a character on Balmung with the exact same name as the character you would like to transfer. Transfer the character you wish to transfer. You will then be prompted to change your name as a character on Balmung already possesses that same name (your alt). then delete your alt. I have not tested this method out just yet, but i read the guidelines to character transfer carefully and i believe this will work. I hope this helps my man, hope to see you all on Balmung soon.

we already know the name of two of these three swords: Oathkeeper, and Curtana. We can only speculate that the third sword is Durendal. I discount Joyuese because Durendal has much more epic and legendary real life lore behind it and also Roland (its real life owner) being a Paladin himself. and what i was asking is that i went through the trouble of "zenithing" the weapon and i would very mcuh like my weapon to be a special snowflake, to put it bluntly. This doesnt mean i wish to step on the RP community's toes by claiming my sword is the one true Curtana, but i would very mcuh like to incorporate some kind of legendary status to the blade. I mean, it glows for crying out loud. Im not going to call it, "my sword" - thats insulting to the work i put into +1ing it. I want to name it and have a story behind it that doesnt conflict with the Relic storyline and i was asking what guidelines should i try and abide by when doing this.

I would like to point out that this isnt really a discussion on the plausibility of the player character owning an authentic Relic weapon (i understand the discussion started to head in that direction) but i would like us to focus more on the actual stories behind the weapons in game. So far i have received in depth and comprehensive detailing of the BLM and WHM Relic weapons and have updated the OP with that information (thank you!). I appreciate the brief descriptions and i am not discounting those contributions i just would like the lore detailed and described in a way that someone who has never played the game can read and gather all the information behind the Lore - even spoilers. The main lore behind these weapons is obtained through the Relic Reborn questline. Its in the form of text conversation of Gerolt studying the legend of the weapons and relaying that information back to the player character. This is what i would like detailed in this thread so that i can add that information to my OP and possible have this information inducted into the RPC's Wiki. I leveled a paladin and i have a zenith version of the Relic but i can honestly (and regretfully) say that the one portion where the construction and origin of Curtana was being explained was accidentally clicked through by myself (im not lying, my middle finger relaxed too much and i right clicked through the conversation). So even though i would love to contribute to my own thread as an authority on the Paladin Relic weapon, i sadly cannot. I am hoping the community will assist me just out of the sake of sharing knowledge. Thank you.

I dont believe the Relic Weapons in game are replicas, more like, restorations. You obtain the original relic but as you stated, its so badly damaged that Gerolt must "fuse" it with another weapon (the weapon you obtain and must put two of the same materia in it). so essentially he is taking parts of the Relic and putting together with the new weapon. I believe that can be considered a restoration. so in other words, the RP community has generally adopted the policy to not claim the Relic as their weapon but to have your character obtain some other weapon entirely separate from the story line Relic? so instead of my sword being called Curtana, i should use something i thought up?

so free paladins were around before the calamity but not at the start of 1.0? that would put it around 5/6 years right?

Thank you for the links! been searching online for those but there are a few gaps still: the forum thread you linked doesnt mention Thyrus at all but its a good overview of a majority of the weapons. and the FFXIV 1.0 Lodestone link gives /brief/ descriptions and doesnt go into detail about the weapons such as Gae Bolg's wings on the lance are supposedly used to help a Dragoon hone in the accuracy of their jumps - also because its a 1.0 Lodestone link, SCH and SMN Relics are left out. i was hoping in depth (even spoiler rich) lore could be discussed in this thread.

i dont see any inherent conflict here. just everyone throwing in their speculations and theories. its been a great discussion so far, lots of in game support is used and im finding out more about 1.0 and the races than i did before - mission accomplished

Hi RPC! I need some assistance in creating a back ground for my character. I have his personal life pretty down pat but i got to the point where i am trying to incorporate his Job with his background and im hitting some road blocks. It is my hope that the community can help me out because i am not as "fluent" with the lore as i would like to be. Basically, my character is a Hyur Highlander that is 36 years old. this would put his birth year at 1541. He is a Paladin so this is where i need help incorporating that portion of the story in. The in game storyline puts you the Player Character as a "Free Paladin" - neither of nobility or high station, but a free lance adventurer not sworn in to the Sultansworn. I want my character to be a "Free Paladin" as well but the small detail i need is exactly what year did the Sultansworn start taking in just about anyone? Previously, the Sultansworn only took in high nobility or social elite so i cant have my character joining their ranks too early. can anyone provide this information? Thank you!

Im starting to assume that most of the people saying "it doesnt matter" play the game with name plates turned "off" and thats probably why it doesnt matter, because you would never see it either way. i play with the nameplates on and in that case it would damage my immersion a bit

then we should drop this entire thread because it was started and based on speculation as the actual life spans have not been announced or have been made known to us the players. so youre basically saying we shouldnt talk about it because we dont know when thats the whole point of this thread i thought.

you know. . .. the fact that there arent any older looking mi'qote in the game may support my initial speculation that mi'qote have shorter life spans than the other races they simply dont live long enough to get old!

i would like to see FC's take themselves some what seriously. so if your FC is called "Ordo Malleus" and your FC tag is im going to be a bit disappointed. its almost advertising that you dont take yourselves seriously and i understand FCs want to project that they are laid back, but let's be honest: there are other avenues to do this.

so who do you think is worshipping Shiva? not all elezen. . . maybe the duskwights? you dont see alot of them in game and the ones you do see are held to some disdain.

i cant be your RP partner, but i am intrigued by your choice of handicapping your character in the way you did. could the Echo possibly play into how he is able to see?

There is a race i hope they make playable (or at least give us some kind of unique customization option) and they are the Padjhal(spelling?). According to the lore, they appear to stop aging while still children so i am curious as to their lifespan as well. and i understand that mi'qote are not "cats" in fact i stated they had feline "properties" but they are certainly within the 50% margin in regards to the percentage of how muc hthey are hyur or feline.

i understand your sentiments. i really do, and i contemplated using this service for a long time. But as a midlander Hyur, i never felt comfortable in my skin and logging in everyday and staring at a character i did not want was starting to diminish my play experience. My character is me. it is a virtual representation of myself. Thats how i play these kinds of games. It was really bothering me that i was stuck as a Hyur midlander when i felt more comfortable as a highlander. I needed the change and i posted this topic to help those that are of like mind. I fully expect them to start selling Fantasia potions in the future, but at what cost? $15 USD? $25 USD? i saw someone state they hope it be $5USD and i lol'd. Also, i had long time FFXI vets tell me no such optional service was provided and they were stuck with a character for 10 years. I dont have a lot of time to play so i cant simply roll another character and throw away the titles and minions and mounts ive collected. I understand that i may be in a tough spot in the future but honestly, what would that be? i accidentally deleted a valuable piece of gear? then i will grind the mytho tomes or the dungeon to get it again. I think the grave atmosphere surrounding the usage of the one time restoration service is a bit exaggerated. in any case, i hope some of you did find this useful
