Roses for the Gods [OOC Welcome]
Paradox Reality replied to Paradox Reality's topic in Town Square (IC)
It hath been a scarce two suns since mine arrival in Gridania, and already events are quite exciting. Little does the city sleep; even in the dead of night, as I drag mineself exhausted to mine tent in the Central Shroud, resounds with cheer, strength, and bravery. A new little one hath joined me in mine tent, as well--a small pup, found deep within the ageless forest, his mother fallen, likely of a hunters arrow. A brave one, he is--he growled and barked at mine approach, and yet now still tries to wrestle against me with his small body. Methinks the brave one shall need a brave name. Mine search for the green rose hath gone to nothingness yet. The forests I wander are largely explored, and cleared by the local Gridanians. there must certainly be lesser-explored paths, yet those that I have witnessed seem fraught with dangers I simply cannot go against yet. Perhaps in time. Mother Miounne, dear sweet woman she is, hath told mineself that perhaps it is time to venture beyond the borders of the Twelveswood for now. The very thought is exciting... Yet where should I go?... -
... I find myself being immensely interested and intruiged. This idea... I like it. It gives us more of a reason to meet those we might've never met, certainly. Are there still spaces? Odds are against my main getting in on this, but I DO have a lowbie alt, Rosalie Mondeux, a wanderer with a personal quest that drives her. Lemme know what's up, I'll be on fairly soon today.

Hm. One thing you should probably remember, is that right now a vast number of the pirates that you meet in game are more like privateers, working with the Maelstrom against the Garlean Empire. That being said, their job isn't exactly a peaceful one, so you might expect mortality rates to be still rather high. I also don't think the Maelstrom particularly appreciates pirates not on the payroll, so that is also a factor. Odds are good that the Maelstrom would either try to convert said pirate, or kill them. The Garlean will flat out kill.

To be honest, the only time I've seen spots open for Balmung is past 1:00 PST. Really, it seems the only way to get in is to wait for the vast majority of people to be logged out of the game.

Roses for the Gods [OOC Welcome]
Paradox Reality replied to Paradox Reality's topic in Town Square (IC)
I hath noticed an interesting change from mine homeland, apart from the many races. In Oschon's Rest, I knew of but one family of hyur, and a single female miqo'te. She referred to her kindred as reticent and often rare, yet I have seen a great deal many in my short time in Gridania. I hath also seen events are not quite so simple as they were in Oschon's Rest. Just two bells ago, I met an injured miqo'te, under a hunt from her very own blood son. Though I helped her seek treatment, I believe blessed Oschon held a hand in guiding mineself to her. I look forward to aiding her in the future. In mine travels, I wouldst thank friend Camille, as well as friends Blue and Eudalie, for offering mineself guidance in mine quest. Perhaps in the future, I wouldst ask mine new friends their input in this journal. For now, mine quest must continue. -
(This will basically be a character blog--Rosalie describing her experiences, adventures, and the people she meets as she tries to finish her own personal quest. With luck, folks'll be interested!) A Rose for the Gods Rosalie Mondeux In which I describe mine journey, and seeketh Thirteen Roses for the Thirteen Gods On the first sun of the third astral moon, I arrive'd in fair Gridania, Oschon be praised. But a mere four day walk from Oschon's Rest, I first noticed the forests here whisper differently than in mine reticent home. These trees speak of excitement and adventure, of powerful deeds and valiant sacrifices. Far different from the trees whom served as the silent guardians that I knew and loved. I wouldst impress upon thee, fair reader, of the many who wander afar on Gridania's ancient paths. Of all races and creeds are they, Lalafell and Hyur, Miqo'te and Roegadyn. Even the afeared Duskwright, with which mine papa and mamma described as mistrustful villains in their dark caves, wander the land. Mine dear cousins of the Wood, fair Elezen, offer kind words and advice. Yet I cannot merely obtain the first rose from them. I travel in Oschon's name, and thus would adventure and labor to find a green rose--a rare yet perfect gift to offer to dearest Nophica the Matron.

Ifn you're still looking for interested parties, give me a shout! Screaming Fist is my main, but she's kinda got a lot on her plate recently. Maybe you can help my alt Rosalie Mondeux search for her roses? Lemme know!

Idea for group/linkshell RP and stuff
Paradox Reality replied to Jace Hunter's topic in RP Discussion
Ah, so it was you I was racing for Rose Hips in Gridania this morning. Truth be told, I'm curious about this as well. So far as I know, there is no group IC for the Wood Wailers or the God's Quiver. I do know that the Sultan sworn on Balmung are doing something very similar to what you just described. They'd be good people to ask. -
Screaming Fist had escaped. She had spent the day doing the same as she had the day before--spreading rumors, lighting fires, causing worry. She had started to drop names. Kage. Natalie. Kayah. Night Blades. She had been as cautious as she could have been, wearing her disguise as she went around the various parts of Ul'dah. Then she had been caught. In the Quicksand, Kage and Natalie had seen her, and the altercation that had ensued, while not life threatening, was enough to make Fist flee back into the desert, and not stop running until Ul'dah was far from her sight. "Some were listening," she growled to herself. "Damn those two." Of course, she was to blame as well. She could have been better prepared. She hadn't planned for them to show themselves so boldly. More the fool she was. At least the pot was stirring. They had a new target. A Flame Sergeant knew the names and was starting his own search. She would find the three that had expressed interest and find out if they knew anything--or if they'd be willing to hunt with her. "I am not defeated. I will see this done," she told the darkness of her room. She had made her move. Now it was time to see if she was responded to.
-
As Screaming Fist had gone about her rumor mongering, she had noticed the familiar figures of Natalie and Kage in the corner of her eye. She also made sure to keep the two within her line of sight, even as she pretended she hadn't seen them. When she had been finally safe at home in Mist, she had deliberated with herself. The cautious route would be to not do anything for a couple days, and let the rumors stir. However, that wouldn't remove Dennthota from suspicion any faster, and Fist had found herself personally annoyed at the apathetic reactions of some of UI dah's citizenry. Tell the people that the Garleans at their door, and they'll jump to their feet and draw steel. Tell them the Amal'jaa were coming, and they'd do the same. Tell them there were traitors amongst the people you trusted to protect the ruler you loved, and they shrugged and said that's just how things are. "Fools. They would see their own freedoms taken because 'such is life in Ul'dah'. No wonder Dennthota wants to destroy these traitors. Someone needs to stir the citizens into action." The thought of Denn made Fist sigh. Denn would not approve of her actions. She was painting a giant target on her back. Yet she would do things far worse if it meant Denn would be safe. And to that end, she slept, and waited for her next chance to return to Ul'dah on the morrow.

In Ul'dah, the sun was shining brightly on another day of busy commerce among the city's many market stalls. All people, from adventurers to peasants to the rich and powerful, visited these stalls at some point in the day. Every time they did, Screaming Fist was there to whisper in their ears. She was clad in concealing clothes, red and black and chain, with a black mask covering all but her single good eye and her mouth. All it took was a whisper, a simulated conversation with someone else in the market, and someone else would hear the words and pass them to a dozen others. "There are traitors in the Sultansworn. Gods save the Sultana. Criminals and traitors in the Sultansworn! Assassins! Thieves!" As Fist walked among the multitudes, she nodded in satisfaction as the air became heavy, thick with tension and conspiratorial whispers. Upon making sure the word was passed in the markets, she then went to the Coliseum, and Hustings Strip, and the Gold Court, and even the Quicksand, making sure to spread the word. "Traitors in the Sultansworn? Impossible! Murderers, assassins, Gods save the Sultana! Someone must save the Sultana!" And finally, when word was spread at the end of that day, Screaming Fist calmly departed from Ul'dah's gates, throwing her disguise aside as she walked out into the burning deserts. As she did so, she whispered one thing: "Come to me."

I. Basic Info Characters: Screaming Fist, Minalyse Harker Primary character: Screaming Fist Linkshells: The Lominsan Society, Broken Chairs Primary RP linkshell: The Lominsan Society [*] II. RP Style Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): Medium to Heavy. I like getting kinda flowery and heavy on the text if I can. Views on RP combat and injuries: If it happened, it happened! RP fights are great if all parties can concede that damage will be done to all involved, and godmodding isn't a thing. Furthermore, there will be injuries, however, if the one injured doesn't want to bear permanent injuries, we have white mages and healers of all kinds! Views on IC romance: I personally love the RP potential involved with romance. Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): If it can be agreed upon and the RP supports it, family/rival/friendship RP is all great stuff. Views on lore: It's rather important. It gives characters backstory and flavor, flavors RP and helps differentiate between possible factions. However, if some parts of lore aren't clear, it's helpful to take your own initiative on things. Views on chat functions (/say, /linkshell, etc): Team chat is usually for OOC, as is FC. Tell is also mostly OOC, but can be used to RP whispers and actions others can't hear or see. Linkshells are usually designated as IC or OOC, so that's easy! Most RP is gonna be emoted or in /say. Now for a better intro, since I'll be stuck doing nothing for a goodly while! --MMORPG background My background with MMOs is rather less than my experience with RP itself, but I've played a couple, namely Ragnarok Online (both 1 and 2), FlyFF, Dream of Mirror Online, and World of Warcraft. I've also spent a goodly while monkeying on online servers in both Neverwinter Nights 1 & 2, if that counts. --RP experience Far more than my MMO experience. I've been roleplaying in various forms for about ten years now. Specifically, I've RPed for tabletop games of D&D and Pathfinder, then spent a good three or four years on a Neverwinter Nights roleplaying server, plus another two on a different one in Neverwinter Nights 2. I've also spent about five years playing on the old text-and-telnet MUSHes and MUXes, namely Final Fantasy MUX and Multiverse Crisis MUSH. At one point I tried RPing on WoW, but by the time I got there most of it was ero stuff, so I missed the boat. --Character ideas/info My main character is Estreia Jr'eivra, a Duskwight Elezan who has just recently left the caves of her homeland in search of the powerful magic of the Thaumaturgists and Conjurers. She's rather fresh off the boat, so to speak, and she still has trouble dealing with all the new things around her--namely, the antics of the other races, especially her cousins the Wildwood Elezen. However, thankfully for her, she's highly intelligent, motivated in her hunt for knowledge and magic, and her social graces aren't entirely impaired--or so she thinks. Truthfully, she's got a rather dry wit when she's not reading or trying to be respectful to elders and masters of magic. Only time will tell just how her new life pans out... Basically, I'm playing Estreia as a sort of blank slate character. She's new to town, trying to understand what's happening around her, and with recent events, it looks like she's in over her head. A perfect candidate for some nice, fresh character development! --How did you learn about the coalition? Thank you Amaare Margolis for showing me the way when I was randomly wandering around Ul'dah! --What kind of a role-player are you aiming to be? Light, medium, or heavy? I believe I can fit all three rather well, but personally I think I'd be a heavy-to-medium type. The main reason I came onto FFXIV was to explore the world and see the story, and nothing feels better to me than to see the inhabitants of the world all be humanized and characterized. --Anything from real life you're comfortable with sharing? (Work, school, hobbies, etc) I'm a worker in a Target store, I'm going to school for game design trying to become a creative lead sort of person, I greatly enjoy reading, writing, and playing video games, and I listen to all kinds of music so long as its not country or blatantly insulting! That works, right? Thanks again for the welcomes! --Paradox

Hello everyone! As you can see, I am Paradox, and I've recently noticed this site, as well as RP on FFXIV! (Thanks be to Amaare Margolis for revealing its existence!) Some quick background info, I've been RPing in various places for about ten years now. Any sort of RP is welcome, be it light social, some good crunchy combat, or a heavy long-length storyline. However, be warned that I'm on a PS3, and at times I don't have access to a keyboard (I'm working on that). My main character is Estreia Jr'eivra on Gilgamesh server. PM me if you're interested in some roleplay! A character summary will be forthcoming once I'm done prepping for the holidays. Merry Christmas, everyone! --Paradox
