Elisan nodded and took the cards back from Aartur, dividing the deck in half randomly and then placing what was on the bottom, on the top. She drew three cards and laid them face up on the table, one after another. "What was, what is, and what may come..." A brief explanation was given on the simple layout before she went on to the cards themselves. "What was - Sairie, the Godmother. She brings us grace, gifts, talents..in the past, you had this blessing - protection from ill will and the plain stupidity of others, sometimes your own mistakes. She untangles the snarls in our psyches and gives us choices where we thought we had none. In the past, you often had unexpected good fortune, last minute "rescues" so to speak. Her lesson was in remembering the kindnesses given to you so that you might in turn, bestow them upon others. What is - the Journeyman. He is the harbringer of adventure..independence and travel. All of the great ones - the saints, the warriors - all those filled by spiritual light have been on this journey. You are starting this journey -stepping off of the 'safe paths' and into the wilderness so that you might come out stronger, better. His presence here suggests that now is the time to hone your skills in both working and living. You must use caution though- and ensure that you balance intuition with sound reason. Be sure you have a clear idea of where you want to go". She paused a moment, letting him absorb the information before she moved to the last card. "What may be.." A gesture to the final card as she spoke again, "the singers of the Chalice. Another good card to see - the singers tell a tale of hope, trust and patience. They speak of miracles. In order to drink of this cup, your heart must be open. Open is open - there is no other state. This door cannot be 'open a little' or even halfway. You must be willing to trust in the greater powers of the universe and open yourself fully in order to let loose the true power than lay within you. Carefully, she slid each card back into the deck and reshuffled them together before watching Aartur, to gauge his reaction.

She lifted a shoulder noncommittally at Aartur's question. "I typically ask only for what the seeker deems it's worth". Carefully, she opened the pouch and produced a strange deck of cards. These she offered to Aartur. "You know how to shuffle cards? If so, shuffle them until you feel you're done. Otherwise, just hold them a moment". A faint smile, glancing toward Kie and the carbunkle, the highlander who seemed to be meditating and then she noticed that at some point Ryan had slipped off. Her attention returned to Aartur then as she waited for the deck to be returned.

Elisan thought for a moment before answering. "It isn't so much about prediction, as it is about guidance. The threads of fate are many and our choices often dictate which path we will take and also, what lay at the end of it. Direct prediction is a tricky game. Generally, the most simple observation of the cards is enough and gives the one seeking answers plenty to think on. Telling people what they want to hear is for charlatans. There is a time and a place for that, mind, but I am not often one to do it."
-
Elisan nodded politely to the departing lalafel and returned her attention to Aartur's question. "I would do that, any time you wish, yes" She patted the small dark pouch that sat on the table with its slightly square shape. A moment's pause to watch the little carbunkle meander across the table toward Kie and the witch smiled, giving Aartur a subtle nod of approval at the gesture.

Welcome to the game and the server! I would recommend looking up anyone from EoN (Envisage of Night). They're a fantastic bunch of people and are happy to help and get some RP going just about any time someone says "I want some RPz". Best of luck in your quest!

Elisan nodded to the dunesfolk male and smiled faintly. "It's an art that does take time and patience to learn - I've been practicing awhile now but am not at all what I would consider mastered in the art. I do make use of it frequently over the course of a day. It's a great help in the field when I've been asked to do certain more unpleasant tasks - thinning the herds of the more dangerous creatures out there. That sort of thing". She shook her head at Aartur's question, "It is something independent from my studies though admittedly, having an affinity for magic has seemed to help. I followed the Spinner's threads long before I took up a staff". Her smile, while still present, did not lighten nor hide the passing sadness in her eyes.

The chuckle escaped might have had a vaguely purr like quality to it. "Gargoyle?" She made a show of thinking about that a moment, a gold lacquered talon tip tapping her chin before she shrugged. "Perhaps, I do enjoy sitting in high places watching what goes on. Do I frighten you?" The huntress flashed a grin that revealed the faint glimmer of elongated incisors. "Your hard-lost gil is around here somewhere...I can smell her even over your blood". Ears twitched as the soft tones of a flute drifted toward them and those ever watchful owlish eyes pulled from the large hyur to settle upon the not too far off figure with his flute. "That's not something you hear every day".

(Aww, its ok! Thats the nice thing about forum posting -you can come and go as you need to!) Elisan had been watching the interactions quietly for some time, caught between fascination and amusement. When there was a pause, she finally chimed in. "Seeking knowledge is always good - to become something more than you are is the best anyone can strive for. I'm here to learn as well" She nodded her pale head toward the male miqo'te, "Thaumaturgy". An faint wave of one slender hand as the other lifted a bit of the cheese from a plate, "I am also known to wander to different places doing a bit of ..." A pause as the witch thought of the best way to put it. "Fortune telling, I suppose".
-
Elisan had been momentarily distracted by..something..ruby gaze cast off in no particular direction as she appeared to watch some invisible thing move across the room toward their table. She exchanged a glance between the two miqo'te which moved on to the others at the table as if she were intently studying ..who knows what. It wasn't until Aartur bumped his head under the table that she was jostled back to the here and now. A momentary blink before she smiled, somewhat apologetically to anyone who might have noted her state of unaware. Unaware. That wasn't the right word at all. She was exceedingly aware of certain things, which was part of her problem. The large hyur had asked her a question. Her name, oh yes! "I'm called Elisan - pleased to meet you".
-
"Following you? No, I was just sitting here enjoying the breeze. Looks like you had yourself a good time". It was hard to tell if she was being serious or sarcastic. A gesture to the pouch, "it makes a paste - put a little on the bruising, it'll help speed things along. It's not a healer's touch, but when you're in the field, and not a healer - it works". She had stretched out now rather lazily atop the crates, dangling an arm down while her other was bent, chin propped in hand. The lion-like tufted tail lashed of it's own accord as she watched him. "You box?"
-
So too did the Huntress move along - winding her way back to some high perch to watch the city bustle....and eventually an ideal overlook was discovered high atop a wall of shipping crates. The vessels coming and going were mildly interesting with their exotic cargo and loud, burly sailors. A flicker of red and more so, the hint of metal that only came with blood, on the wind, caught her attention. Golden eyes directed to the massive highlander from earlier in the day. It seemed he had been speaking quite literally when he'd commented that he had a fight to attend. A glance over his bruises - nothing too terrible though that eye was going to blacken in short order. Seda rummaged in one of her pouches a moment, producing a small cloth wrapped bundle about the size of a large marble. When Baer was just about under her, stopping to look around, she dropped the pouch down with a quiet warning, "Catch Red".

Elisan had been listening to Kieaira start to speak when the table was flooded with sudden commotion. The miqo'te male was bumped into, he in turn bumped the table which sent the poor girl flying in a full out retreat. Observation, even casually, would note her unease with most. It seemed particularly worse around males and tripley so males of her own race. Somewhere in the back of her mind she wondered at what terrible things the girl must have endured to be so terrified of social interactions with her own people. The highlander turned to address them and apologize and the pale elezen woman rose with a warm smile, sliding to put herself casually between the displaced Kieaira and the men around them. The witch was tall, even for one of her people. "Truly, it was an accident. No harm's been done". Crimson eyes fell on the carbuncle briefly before moving to the dunesfolk and his companion. "is everyone alright then?"

I have a Keeper Archer as well! Seda! Welcome to the server!

"No, I'm not from Ul'dah either - my birth home is far from here between the mountains of Coerthas and Dravania. I chose to come here because it was so far from there..." The albino smiled wryly. Clearly there was some story behind that. "I found a comfortable place for myself among the books and scholars of the arcane arts here and I like the food" She chuckled softly, a light shrug of her shoulders.
-
"I am called Elisan..pleased to meet you both. I haven't been to the sea-city yet myself - Im told its a real sight though" She smiled to the server and had the woman refill whatever she'd been drinking before and a few more gil were given over for another plate of food - some bread, cheese and fruit. It was always nice to converse while sharing food, it helped to ease people. She adjusted her cloak on the back of the chair and set a small pouch on the table, which contained something that gave it a vague square shape.
-
Elisan watched the exchange with a small smile and nodded, "A drink would be fine, thank you". She turned her attention for a moment to the young hyur man and tipped her head a bit, studying him. "There is strength in numbers, I am told. Going gallivanting about the countryside with no idea what's roaming just over that dune is foolish indeed. You're right to seek others who might be able to not only help but to keep company as well. Myself..I am passing the time here while I wait for someone". She smiled pleasantly, looking back to the miqo'te woman then.
-
An amused, soft chuckle escaped her as the young miqo'te lady all but devoured the pastries. At least she was enjoying them! A kind smile met the awkward glance and eventually, the plate was held out offering what few treats remained unscathed. Thank you...would you like some? She inclined her head and nodded. "You're welcome. I'm glad that you liked them". Delicate fingers carefully lifted a pastry off the offered plate while the other hand gestured. "If you'd like to sit, you can". The witch's ruby gaze was drawn to the hooded man who'd started to speak close by, offering conversation about work. She assumed he had been speaking to the skittish lady but answered herself, partly to spare the girl a little social frustration. "There is a never-ending demand for work with the citizens of this place if you're in great need of employees. I am sure there are many families here who would appreciate even a small pay...unless you are seeking someone with a more particular set of skill?"

The pale elezen woman often found herself sitting in strange places - simply watching people come and go. Ul'dah was an interesting city with a certain charm that she found she enjoyed. And the food - the rich spices, sweet treats, she enjoyed those too though anyone glancing at her wouldn't know it. Tall and slender, alabaster skin and hair worn just off the shoulders in a white bob. Her eyes were really the only thing that one might note had any color to speak of, a startling crimson shade that was the benchmark of most albino creatures. Tonight was no different, she sat at the Quicksand enjoying some honey rich drink and watching people come and go. On occasion, she would bring out the cards and read for people. She had watched the skittish Miqo'te try to work up the nerve to say hello to someone..anyone..watched as she bolted out the door only to return a few minutes later, slightly more determined. That determination seemed to wane and the pale witch felt a brief pang of familiarity for the girl. It wasn't easy for her either, most fell somewhere between intimidated or cautious toward her. A passing server was waved down, a soft word spoken before in short order, the serving girl brought a plate of pastries to the nerve wracked miqo'te, compliments of "that one there".

For those who'd asked, there is an LFRP Linkshell that's ooc - if you shout out, most likely someone who's in it will see it and if there's room, send you an invite. I know there's some spillover versions as well because it gets full fast!

Welcome to FFXIV and Gilgamesh!

Sometimes it just takes the right people. I can't offer you much, as I'm over on Gilgamesh but if you got a good response from some Balmung players, maybe try to group up with a few of them and brainstorm ideas in game or via the forums. It's helped me to work through some things about my characters as well - what motivates him? What are his goals? What do you as a player want from your RP? That's a question to ask yourself too! It may help to try some forum RP as well just to get the ball rolling! Once you have a handle on those questions, maybe you'll find jumping into things a littler easier! Best of luck to you!
