  1. Having creepy fangirls is one of the heralds of success. Also, welcome Ravyne. It's good that you brought fish otherwise some of these folk may have snacked on you instead.
  2. Easy there, Killer. You'll scare him off like that. > I've been in the Navy for 6 years, this is the sort of behavior I'm accustomed to.
  3. Thanks for the welcome. @Elle My knowledge concerning the Age of Sail isn't perfect, but I'll answer any questions I can. @Teveriel My Roeg will have been kept in a prison (doesn't really matter which one) as collateral for his group, The Ragged Men. The band had been captured after an unsuccessful raid on an armed caravan transporting pay to the army. The commander of the group, knowing the large battle that was approaching, decided to recruit the brigands as scouts for his troops (for a fee, of course). The brigand leader, Jarrik the Old, accepted the deal after being convinced of the necessity of keeping the Garlean Empire out of Eorzea. The alternative of the entire band being hanged was an incentive. A lottery was held to decide which member would get the cushy job of being collateral in a nice warm cell while the rest of them tramped over the countryside. My Roeg won, and thus ended up in prison and didn't get incinerated. If you want to collaberate on backstory intertwining, then I'm open to suggestions.
  4. So I've decided to give FFXIV another go. Left the game fairly early on when it became a hassle to even give SE my money using their byzantine system. Let's hope this run goes a bit smoother as it looks like it will. I'm currently in the Navy stationed in Italy on the USS Mount Whitney. My contract will be ending in the next couple of months, which should coincide with the game's release. This means I'll finally have the time to enjoy an MMO again. I started in this genre with Everquest back in 2000, and have since gone through FFXI, City of Heroes, World of Warcraft, Vanguard, Guild Wars 1 & 2, and a couple others. I've been playing tabletop RPG's most of my life, but RPing in an MMO started for me in City of Heroes. The game lent itself well to RP with it's robust character creation and advancement along with loads of dev support. I now find it a bit boring to play an MMO without the spice of RP, which can be a bad thing with how poor the communities are in some games. You guys seem to have a small, but dedicated, core group that has weathered the game as it was, so I have high hopes that it will continue in the future. As for my character, I'm leaning towards playing a Hellsguard Roegadyn raised and trained by a band of brigands, whom he later joined. Whether he was a child of a brigand who died or a child stolen from a caravan, no one has ever told him. Nor does he really care. He was in prison during Bahamut's rampage, and thus escaped the eradication of his band, whom had been hired by the Eorzian alliance as a scouting team. He keeps an easygoing attitude and seems to find some humor in nearly any situation, a smirk never far from his face. In social situations he tends to try and push people's buttons to gauge their personality, and can't help but bully those who won't defend themselves. I'll probably have him be in his mid-30's. Name-wise, I had thought of a couple names that a group of highwaymen would give a Roegadyn child, such as Big Trouble or Road Block, but they might be too silly and distracting. So the name is still up in the air. Anyways, I look forward to playing the game and interacting with your brainchildren. Thanks for having me.
