*Shocked Gasp* What have I done! ( I like it <3)
-
You're pretty!!! ^^
-
No one should feel bad about not keeping their wiki up to date, its not easy for anyone It should be a fun activity though! If you're not enjoying it, you may want to consider just leaving it out of date
-
As much as it pains me to admit it, there are people ahead of me in the line. Excuse me? Isn't this the Pillar Shipping thread? In here nothing comes before Warren <3 Crofte, nothing!
-
I have a ton of rumors to update! People had better look out!
-
I hope Jin'li meets his end by Warren's sword (while Crofte is wearing the Leia bikini and chained to Jin'li's throne).

Blood on the Sands Episodic rp event (Rules for Event 2 in first post)
Aya replied to Askier's topic in Chronicled Events
As sort of the instigator here I really want to say that I have never approached any of this with a sense of anger, or frustration. I am not, nor have I been, upset with any of the players involved in this event, or this thread (except, perhaps, briefly with Mr. Osric (Evil Batman)). I have never and would never suggest that PLAYERS should be shunned. There's been at least one post that suggested that is what I was saying I would do, it is not! I would not! That the discussion has been, I think, level and generally calm is a testament to the RPC and the Balmung RP community in general. I know that I've made a number of people angry, but I do hope you'll find yourselves able to understand where I have come from, and to forgive me eventually. My entire point has been to provide two things: 1) Askier a moment to pause and decide if he really wants the villains to be party to mass murder (which he does, though on a scale three to four orders of magnitude smaller than before). 2) The players who had characters on the villains side the opportunity to decide if they really wanted their characters to be party to such a crime, most of them being unaware that would be the IC cost of accepting a collar (and many, I believe, really wanting to just help the villain side to make the event interesting, a noble endeavor for those players ) I think the appellation of "heartless" is quite unfair. Compulsion is not a defense for murder, morally or legally. There may be other extenuating circumstances (particularly that they were not directly involved in these murders), but the moral and legal equation at the bottom line is pretty clear (at least in the Western world). There really hasn't been any argument presented to suggest that Ul'dahn legal or moral reasoning would be different in substance (at least to be less harsh in this case), so I don't know how those of us observing from the outside are supposed to have any different expectation. In terms of ignoring a particular character's RP, I just want to point out that if a random character came up to any of us saying: "I have just blown up a third of Gridania! Tens of thousands of people dead! The other thirds will blow up tonight, and you can't stop me, MWAHAHAHA!" the reaction of our characters would fall into two camps: 1) Completely ignoring 2) Believing that the character is MAD and treating him as such. In neither case will the scenario he is describing be accepted as canon by our characters, regardless of how earnestly he intends it (and if this is not the case for someone out there, I have some characters for you to meet who will rock your world, baby!). My point in saying this is two fold. First of all, it is an incredible testament to Askier et al. that if he said hundreds of thousands of civilians would die, we were discussing (mostly) the implications of it. There was not much questioning of the validity of it (although there was some, it was polite). That says good things about the weight of respect the community has for Askier and the others coordinating this plot. Secondly, it shows what should have been obvious to everyone, but has been in something of dispute: we all control and limit what RP our characters accept as canon. This should not be controversial. I am happy that Askier has scaled back the death count, it makes plausible RP moving forward a little easier to imagine. I would still have to see something awfully convincing to believe that any of the villain ringleaders (collared or not) could escape this at all, or for their henchmen to escape it unscathed, but at least it opens up significantly more room for suspension of belief. In what I hope is conclusion, I just want to say again (I keep repeating this because some people seem not to believe it for some reason) that everyone involved in this plot, and this thread, is terrific. I did not mean to cause anyone to become upset at any point, and if you were I think its because you took something out of context (though the possibility remains that I said something stupid instead in which case I will apologize!), but I would gladly discuss that with anyone personally (and hopefully show you that I really am not mean, I'm not! Really!) Good luck with the story and the character arcs I will at least continue to RP along with the arc with this event result, although I do not intend to take an active part in the future events (not because they're not amazingly well run, which they are, but because they take place on Saturday night). This was one of the finest run large scale events I have ever seen, I have never before seen such spur-of-the-moment community involvement, and seen it integrated so seamlessly; I loved this event, it was only the afterwards-announced result of it that raised my eyebrow. -

Aya replied to Askier's topic in Chronicled Events
Very true Nat! I wanted to raise my concern about consequences before the mass murder became set in stone so that there was still time for Askier et al. to consider just how they want the event to conclude, and how they want the plot to proceed. It looks like I am the only one seriously considering changing my involvement or character RP over it, and that's perfectly fair, if people want to be involved with it and to continue down that path, by all means, its a game intended to fun! I don't know what I expected to accomplish, except just to raise my hand and draw attention to something that seemed really important, and kind of overlooked to me. It just seemed like the consequences were not fully thought through when this was planned (my suspicion being because it was not supposed to succeed). But its gotten me into all sorts of trouble! \o/ Gaspard really expanded on what I was trying to say. Plausibility in RP is important, even to me (and my trivial, casual, barmaid RP!) Aya's not going to swing around serving ale to mass murderers, I really didn't mean to offend anyone! I didn't think it would be that controversial to say. I may have been too broad (and too tongue-in-cheek with what I was saying), but I hope that I have been clear enough that I have no ill-intent, nor ill-opinion of any player involved in any way, with any of this. I keep saying it, but I mean it when I say you guys are terrific, and I'm glad that we've been able to have this discussion without too much in the way of fireworks This community is truly terrific, and I am glad I am here. I certainly have not meant to draw targets on any specific characters, or to try to say that people should condemn their characters to death. What everyone should do is consider how they will deal with the consequences of what is happening, and if they actually want to deal with those consequences in-character. If the answer to the later is yes, you should have a plan for the former, and you might want to consider how the rest of the IC world will react to it. I've outlined my general thoughts on the matter, and I suspect that I am not alone in that. I just don't want anyone to feel blind sided by the result of their RP. -

I might not be able to reconcile someone taking part in the attack on Ul'dah and then returning to the city later on as if it is all okay. That's an issue of plausibility on my end, but I would -never- call such a person a bad role-player. I do not think there is such a thing, just different priorities and concepts of what is fun. Those don't always mesh but certainly the people involved in this thread and plot are amazing role-players, if someone is to be called bad for what I said I shall take the label! In terms of consequences numbers being bandied about are on th e hundreds of thousands. Just think about that for a little bit, and how justice and "justice" will react to an atrocity of that scale. Maybe I am being too black and white but this does not sound like something redeemable by trying to help here and there. I don't know that everyone with a collar would automatically be condemned for it but imagine how many people out there have had their lives ruined by the people who were collared - how careful will those seeking revenge be? In terms of wanting to think about the consequences this is exactly the point I was trying to raise. I don't think most players with collared characters realized that they would be accomplices to an atrocity, and that they should really have a chance to consider their involvement if that event result is to hold. Posting from my phone sorry if there are any typos! -
OMG! One so lovely, other so scary!

Lots of Screen Shots from last night! It was a Pumpkin Day like no other, for Aya was there! Frolicking and meeting Scary People, while trying to make a little spare gil on the side ^_~ Behold! MISTER PUMPKIN who seemed to be something of a master of festivities, while Gus ran the important shows! Aya thought he was scary enough, but she decided that she should be scary too. (Please note that Ghost Aya was breaking Piquant Pumpkin rules with the color of her mask, fortunately Gus is forgiving!) A woman named Rose! One of many guests of the Cafe this fine Spooktacular Evening! Aya under the clear spooky night sky, with Mr. Pumpkin! A ghost, and a Pumpkin-head, what could be spookier? Okay, maybe sight of that brain trust (Kahn'a, Mynheir, and Askier) meeting down the road. What a strange place to meet! It was a really wet evening, with lots of rain. When it finally ended Aya put on her rain coat for the long walk back to Ul'dah, she should look happier for being 1300 gil richer than before she arrived! The best way to end a long evening! At the Quick Sand with friends!

This sounds amazing! Welcome to Balmung, I hope we get to meet in-game!

Someone should probably have made sure that there was a Hero available to organize a search team. That might have helped :-] -

Hahaha! Askier is really good at creating buzz And I know its not set in stone yet, that's exactly what I wanted it to be brought up now, before people's RP and characters were forever altered by it being set in stone. Just seems like something that ought to be talked about, since its beyond dramatic! -

They might not, but Aya will! Edit: And just my point, if its not obvious, a lot of people know who was collared. Its not just the authorities and a couple of Free Paladin types. That knowledge is probably spreading like wildfire right now, and of course even worse, there are probably rumors of many completely uninvolved people now spreading as well. What better way to shut down an enemy? Its a public panic afterall! -

For the record Aya warned Momodi shortly after Jin'li was cornered, long before he escaped. I don't know the exact timing. I assumed that Momodi would be the one person Aya knew who would know exactly who in Ul'dah to contact. Still small potatoes compared to the larger topic at hand -

If a handful were killed, maybe... With so many supposedly dead, it is not justice that they have to worry about, but armed mobs, vengeful families, and perhaps worse than either, vengeful powerful people. It will be impossible for any of them to believably return to their lives in Ul'dah. These guys didn't just rough up a barmaid. -

I agree entirely! 1) Aksier is amazing, and he's done a wonderful amount of work with this event. I love the guy! 2) Everyone involved in the event has been amazing, and there's been terrific RP. 3) I contacted Aksier privately with my actual issues with the event, as always he's a champ. 4) The reason I have posted what I have in this thread because I decided overnight that the players should have a chance to understand what is at stake here for their characters. I don't think that many of them realized that their actions would be leading to their character's involvement in so many innocent deaths. That's something that the event organizes, and players involved, should talk about before its set in stone. 5) If that's the route the players want to take, it may have great story potential. I am re-evaluating my own involvement just because the scale of the event is well out of reach of anything I ever wanted Aya to be involved in, and I'm not sure that I want to add surviving this sort of atrocity to her resume. But my own personal concerns aside, everyone is free to RP with their characters as they like
