    New Kid on the block

Yeah, maybe I was a little lazy with writing an introduction about my character and what I wanted, huh? Super sorry about that, my mind was just completely blank at the time. My character is an Ala Mhigan (but born after the invasion and loss of Ala Mhigo), and a half-midlander, half-highlander. He aspires to become an Ala Mhigan Monk, or Fist of Rhalgr, a tradition amongst the men in his family, but chose to leave his family from his strained relationship with his dad. With the exception of his training regime, he's a pretty laid back, friendly, and mostly flirtatious character, and borderline dummy with most things. When it comes to location, I would say Thanalan/Ul'dah is his preferred location, though he freely travels all over the place; he doesn't have a home, and mostly just camps where he is by night fall. I plan to put a proper wiki up on him at some point, in case you were wondering. I was just wanting to see if I could build up a small list of friends to get myself kick-started. I'm a little shy with RPing with strangers sometimes, so it's nice to arrange it beforehand. Hope that cleared things up

Heyo. So, new character on the block. Wondering who and where I can find RP. Already joined an FC, lol, but we'll see where that goes. So yeah. Would love to hang out with someone sometime. Having no one to RP with isn't fun.

    Arcnist/Summoner or White Mage [IC]

I have to agree in that it wouldn't make much sense to have your character as a White Mage, considering only THE protagonist as a non-Padjal White Mage. There's nothing wrong with being a powerful Conjurer, on the other hand, they just can't access the same tier of magic - I can't comment on the Summoner part, though. I have no idea lore-wise about them. I should remember to look into it.

    Expanding my horizons.

Okay, so I've been playing XIV: ARR since February now; I think I've settled in fairly well...I have 2 level 50 jobs and I like to dungeon when I can, and try new places. More importantly for this site though, is that I've been with an RP FC for a while (Harbingers of Dawn). They're a great bunch of guys, pretty supportive, and they offer some nice RP. But here's my thing. I wanna expand my RP horizons, have some more choices available. So this is why I'm making a little thread. I was hoping to make some friends to RP with, and help me with my issue of being a giant RP hermit, since I only really RP in Mist with the FC. I play two characters, both in HoD, but need more interaction with others on both - additionally, I am more than open about the possibility of joining another RP FC and alternating between the two, and POSSIBLY visiting Gilgamesh to see what they have. Hope you take the time to read this little thing. And BTW! You can find both Aria Benett and Drys Ubyltusyn on the wiki (Drys is mostly empty, but oh well. He's a man-roe if anyone is curious).
  5. Don't get me wrong - I like to RP and all; my first week of the game has been going pretty well, but I think that when it comes to the RP, I tend to shy away pretty quickly. I just think that when you have giant groups of RPers in one place, people like me just tend to slip out the back. I don't really feel like I have any niche to fill. Is that weird? Personally, I just prefer smaller groups for RP, and then one-to-one RPs. At least then you feel like you're connecting with someone. It doesn't help that huge groups make it almost impossible to follow conversations.

A new soul in the community

Heyo, welcome! I'm a brand new player to XIV ARR as well, but the people here have been very nice and the people who I've talked to have been more than happy to help me out with things I was confused on, or didn't have the confidence to tackle, so I think you'll do great here. There are two RP servers that his site focuses on if I recall correctly; Balmung and Gilgamesh. I play on Balmung, but I'm pretty sure there's plenty of nice people on Gilga too - some people say that Gilga is a little more...I don't know, closely knit. You'd have to ask someone more experienced! Anyway, hope you have a good time playing.

    Another new person here...

Hiya! I'm brand new too, but I'm on Balmung instead, but you're welcome to chat to me if you want the company of another newbie! Or if you ever feel like rolling on this server too, you're welcome to chat or whatever. The few people I've talked to on here are really nice, so you've definitely come to the right place.

    Hello, I'm new!

Hi Khaya! Just thought I'd put a reply on since I'm brand new to FFXIV too, and I'm in the same time-zone as you (I'm from the UK). The only difference is that I'm on Balmung. If I ever consider swapping to Gilgamesh, or you want to swap over to my side, maybe we could arrange some RP to get us both off of our feet, or something! Just putting it out there!

    Brand New Player!

Right...okay...so, from what I can tell, Linkshells are kind of like Guilds...? That seems about right I think. Anyway, I think I'm going to try and be brave and go to this event at the C&C, mostly to see what things are like, and hopefully try RP'ing; that is, if I'm allowed to go! There's a chance I'll mostly just be lingering and eavesdropping. Maybe if I'm lucky I can find someone to metaphorically cling to and use as a source of information should I need it. Getting it straight from the tap is always best.

    Brand New Player!

Wow. That's a lot of information to take on board! I don't think I have anything to learn when it comes to RP'ing (not that I'm trying to sound big-headed or anything), it's more the fact that I want to try and make a friend or two to help break the ice, as it were, and try to get introduced to some RP - I have no idea about the RP hot spots, popular hours, etc. so a friend would be a good way to get the information I want. That being said, I probably won't jump straight in - like the RP handbook said "Fear your ear, then your tongue"; I should probably see how people normally RP. I've literally just got the game, yesterday in fact - even though I'm a level 19 Conjurer, I still have no idea about most of the features both online and in the game. I'm pretty sure I don't have access to "Linkshells", nor do I know what they are, exactly. As you can see, there's still a lot of functions to the game I need help learning/understanding, as well as the lore - but if I can pick it up in other universes at a pretty quick speed, I doubt it'd take me long here. To add to that, I don't even have a keyboard yet. The sooner I get one, the sooner I can even contemplate RP'ing. Forums aren't usually my kind of thing; I usually get lost on them, and so really I prefer to ask someone one-to-one about things as I come across them.

    Brand New Player!

Hi guys! As you can probably guess, I'm a brand new player to FFXIV, and I decided that I should see what the RP was like on it. My friend recommended I play on Balmung, so that's what I did. The problem is, I have no idea how to intergrate with an RP community - I've RP'd for about 4 years now, originally on World of Warcraft (though I've quit that a while ago), and now hoping to try RP'ing on an MMO again. And just so people know, my first and main character is a Miqo'te female. I'm a big fan of the Final Fantasy series, and while I think I'm a decent RP'er, I have zero knowledge of lore as of yet; that being said, I really do like taking lore into consideration when I RP, so I guess I would say I'm a medium/heavy RP'er. I would really appreciate it if someone could help me out with the basics, generally just make some friends, and hopefully RP in the future. Just as a warning, though. I play on the PS3; they share servers so it's fine, but still. I don't have a keyboard to plug in right now, but trust me, I'm gonna get one as soon as I'm able - I just wanna get everything sorted before I dive in, if you know what I mean. Oh yeah, I'm from the United Kingdom as well!
