Just because there is no quest-line that involves such an event doesn't mean the people of the world wouldn't have some kind of memorial service like you described. I don't think there's been a culture in the history of the world that has never honored their dead in some way. And all fiction is drawn in some way from our real existence. I would consider it very "lore-friendly" myself.

Hey... blame the invention of 'e-mail' for that...

 Perhaps one day I will consider doing it.

Also, bad Osric! Save that for the anti-"Shipping" thread!

I thought Ruru already had a lady-friend.

Damn you Nero, you're not supposed to be taking your queues from Askier!

It's because he forgot the follow-up! "Do you want to?" -
Welcome to the community. Feel free to say hello in game sometime. Coatleque typically won't start conversations with strangers, being a Sultansworn. She likes to observe, but won't turn away others who approach her first! (Paladins, right?)

Welcome to the community! RP can be found almost anywhere on Balmung. The two largest hubs are the cities, however. Ul'dah being the most prevalent, Limsa Lominsa a close second. Gridana will hopefully be catching up soon. Don't be afraid to step in and talk to people. We're a generally friendly bunch.

Coatleque will be there in whatever capacity she is needed.

Chronicles of a Sultansworn in (the) Heat [open]
Coatleque replied to Coatleque's topic in Town Square (IC)
The sun was hanging low in the afternoon as Coatleque finally emerged from the inn. Dressed entirely in black, she stood at the rail just beyond the front door looking up to the sky. Almost as if on queue, her comrade found her once more. It almost made her crack a smile. It seems she could always depend on Natalie. "Um..." "Natalie." "What's with the color?" "Is black not appropriate for mourning?" She shruged. "Black is fine, I think it's the late Mr Tane who isn't really appropriate for mourning." She tapped her jaw, "Though I hardly knew him, perhaps there was more to him than I saw." "Perhaps not. Nobody deserves his fate though." She paused. "He was there at my request. He died on my watch. I feel partially responsible." "Partially maybe..." she gave her a tired smile, "But the smallest of part Mr. Tane didn't have the most agreeable of personalities. Not everyone is as patient as you Ser. If he wasn't with you he would have just been attacked wherever he was instead." "Be that as it may, he deserves at least one person to ... acknowledge his absence... I assume he has been interred at the Lich yard?" "I took him to the Ossuary, Lieutenant Khan went with me, he'll be properly dealt this.", she said with a tilt of her head. Her eyes then rolled with some measure of annoyance. "Despite the people who wanted to bury him outside the city like some sort of leper." "Then that is where I shall be if I am needed." Natalie sighed. "Very well..." The Knight turned to head towards the crypt when Natalie stopped her with another word. "Oh..." "Yes?" "I heard they may have captured the killer?" "I heard rumor of that, but no confirmation for sure. I shall have to look into it later...", to which Natalie nodded. "Natalie?" The Miqo'te walked over to her and placed a hand on her shoulder, "Coatleque..." She gave it a reassuring squeeze, "Not your fault." Coatleque nodded quietly to her in return. "Thank you." Natalie suddenly averted her eyes after the unexpected outpouring of emotion. She felt... embarrassed? Her hand quickly dropped away. "A-anyway...", she started before clearing her throat. "I better get back to work." "Y-yes, of course. If you need me...well... you know." She nodded once more before they both turned and departed. *** She sat kneeling before the statue in the Ossuary. Her prayers had been uttered to Nald'thal seeking this one's safe passing into the realm that awaited him. So intent was she that she did not hear her friend enter behind and quietly stand watching her. He could tell plainly what she was there for from her dress, and did not want to interrupt. When she had finished she made a few motions with her hands then wiped a tear from her face. She stood and turned then noticed the familiar colored armor of the Knight behind her. "Ser Filangieri." "Miss Crofte. My condolences for your loss..." "Not mine. Per say. But thank you. Someone I knew from my past." "I see. A close friend?" "Neither close, nor a friend. But he had nobody else who would mourn him." "Understood... Tis why you are dressed so...dimly then." "Aye. He was killed in front of me and I could not react. I feel ... responsible." "So I've heard... Do you know who and...why?" "I do not. But it could have been almost anyone in this case. He was not... well liked. Still, he would not have been there if I hadn't asked him to meet with me." "Do not fall into despair m'lady. I too have endured similar losses in the past..." "I do not think it is despair... I... I din'nae know what I feel right now. Conflicted. Perhaps responsible... we had... history together. Bad as it was. I knew his other... acquaintances would not be here." "Strange...appears as if that person meant something to you. I would tell you elaborate, but my heart tells me that you would not feel at ease in doing so." She averted her eyes downward with a slow shake of her head. "Do you want to talk somewhere else?" "It is nae here nor there. Suffice tae say I knew him more than most. I... should be fine, thank you. I just... would like a little more time alone." "Twelve watch over you then Miss Crofte." "And you..." -

Sorry, in my mind "dual-wield" means your main hand plus one of anything else (non shield), not just swords. As in you can dual-wield two swords, or you can dual-wield a sword and a dagger. ---------- I would also like to see cloaks as stated above. ---------- And how about a removal instead of an addition? I want the default sandals removed when you are "naked". I can understand the need for the underwear to appease the censors, but why must I be in perpetual sandals? ---------- Maybe some gauntlets with individual fingers instead of them all being oven mitts?

I want something that is a cross between the level 50 Weaver and Goldsmith chest pieces. Something that can be worn by any class, that looks like an official military uniform rather than combat dress. It also must needs be dye-able. Then I can finally stand around out of armor and still feel on duty.

She looked up with a smile and replied "Yes, to both please!" before settling her gaze back towards Aya once more. Her posture was still rather rigid though her head canted downward slightly. She took a rather deep breath. "I would imagine this is a welcome change. Being served rather than serving others? I suppose we are somewhat alike in that manner so to speak. How is life at the Quicksand recently anyway? It seems there has been another recent influx of new adventurers through the gates. But how dreadfully pedestrian of me, I am sure you don't want to talk about work in your time away. It seems as if that is all I know these days. And my these flowers are lovely aren't they?" She finished with a quick gesture to the vase on the table.

What would you do if you got stuck in Final Fantasy?

That's cruel. We all know 'home' is just a dream for us Highlanders -
The size of the shop's interior certainly did surprise her. Coatleque just stood at the door slightly dumfounded until Aya motioned her to the seat. She quickly complied, settling in at the corner of the sofa then flattened out her dress. Looking around the room again and inhaling the mixed smell of tea and spice she nodded once to Aya. The scent was already helping her to relax. "I can see why this is your favorite. This place is wonderful. So beautiful, yet so hidden away!" Again her eyes roamed around the decor.

I would not worry too much about the concept you described above. There are quite a few players who follow that same idea, and nobody is inconsiderate or trying to chase them off. In fact, one of them in particular has already admitted to making over half a million gil through her dealings. So it could be quite profitable for you!

The essence of role-play is to put yourself into another character's shoes and be someone different. It's like acting, but without a live audience. Just keep that in mind and you really can't go wrong. You don't need to have an entire backstory right from the start, but it does help to have a basic idea of who you want your character to be. Since you probably already know most of the basic lore through the class quests, having played for a year, I'm going to assume you already have a good foundation of what is available in the game world. All you need to do is draw on that combined with some observation of others. After that it's just a matter of getting over any shyness and trying to talk to people.

I find myself standing with my hands on my hips, or arms crossed in front of me now. Or I change between the two after a few minutes. Not that I stand around very often with a desk job.

As did Jameson. As did Nero As did Crof... no wait, she didn't. -
The Knight smiled back to Aya. She might not admit it openly, but she could do with simply watching the world go by right now rather than always being a part of it. When they finally reached their destination she looked over the storefront. It was small enough to her that she probably would have passed it by without a second thought on any normal day. As they walked up to the entrance the old man smiled at them. Coatleque could not help but to smile back with a slight curtsey.
-
"Yes, of course", she replied. A story. She wasn't sure she would be wanting to share this particular story with anyone else she knew. She followed Aya as they continued along. For all her years in the city, these roads were still unfamiliar to her. She tried to take in as much of the surroundings as she could, between avoiding others in the road and keeping her dress from dragging through anything unpleasant. "They do have a place to sit, I hope!"

Coatleque looked back once more trying to find the man within the crowd. With a disappointed sigh she set the bottle down on the side of the lane and moved to rejoin with Aya. "Yes, please."
