  1. Refreshing the last post date on this LS so the Powers That Be don't remove it from the listing.
  2. Hi Lia - it was good talking with you in the Adventurer's Guild LS. I'll try to hit you up for some RP sometime soon.
  3. So much this! I will third (or fourth or fifth) this as well, but I will go a little further. There is no place for what this person is doing, IC or OOC - this is supposed to be something that we all do for fun - if someone is sucking the fun out of it, I see no reason why they should be humored in the slightest. Whether IC or OOC, this person needs to be made aware that they are not at all welcome and their best course of action is to go the hell away. Chances are, you'll have plenty of people that would be more than happy to back you up, too.
  4. I'm finding it difficult to articulate the response I'd like to make, so please try not to read too terribly far into what I say. I myself enjoy a good romance RP, but I feel that the other party's response to whatever approach I choose is most likely going to dictate how the relationship - romantic or not - will end up developing. I have played characters that fall hard and fast, and I have played characters that are much more reserved. It seems like most of the issue comes from those who play the 'hard and fast' type - which I can certainly understand. When I've played that type, if it's met with resistance, I've never gone the 'guilt' route ICly, because that's just..wrong? Having said that, however, my current main character has low self-esteem and does in fact feel that the whole of womankind would find him less than desirable - but that's not a hook for me to try and guilt a possible RP partner, it's an outgrowth of the backstory I've chosen. I think the thing to keep in mind is that phrase I just used; "possible RP partner". Being rebuffed should be seen as an opportunity to grow the character - isn't that the whole point of what we're doing? Yes, there are people that play characters that flit from relationship to relationship, but if that's how the character develops, great. If it's to satisfy a need that someone is not getting OOC, then I think that's a problem, and I think that's where we have obsessions and 'stalking' occuring. If I were going to ever play a character that would become obsessed with another (i haven't yet because it kind of creeps me out just thinking about it), I would approach the other party both IC and OOC and say something along the lines of, 'hey, I have this idea for this character based on this, this, and this, would you be interested in playing a character development storyline based on xyz?'. If someone can't give an OOC reason for their character's obsession/guilt tripping and/or can't describe how such a thing is going to develop or grow the character, then I don't think the person is RPing, I think they're trying to get themselves off on making someone uncomfortable, or just hoping that the "target" will choose to throw them a bone (so to speak). Granted, that's just my lowly, lowly opinion. If you disagree with me, it must mean you hate me and I'm terrible, and I should just go back under my rock because no one ever likes me and I'm so lonely.
  5. Edited the post above to reflect the new wiki entry, which will be a continual WIP.
  6. If you don't find yourself able to create a character on Balmung (I've been stymied for the last few days myself..and it's getting a tad frustrating!) you can also set up shop, even temporarily, on Gilgamesh. It is also sometimes locked for creation, but not quite as often. I confess I don't know much about the EU presence there, but you should be able to find some folks to RP with. Good luck!
  7. I was disappointed in some of the wordplay I saw there. At one point people were just replacing the word Naul in TV and movie titles, and two really stood out: Naul from L.A. The Walking Naul It pained me because there were two easy ones right there. Escape from Naul York, starring Snake Plissken (an alias for Snaulid Snake in MGS2, sort of) at least stretches pronunciation, and they really should have latched onto The Naulking Dead. Step it up, Coerthas. *slow clap* You, sir, are a hero.
  8. That's almost enough to drag me to Balmung..at least with an alt.
  9. You can also check out the Linkshell listing to find some RP linkshells you may be interested in. I recommend the Adventurer's Guild and Sellswords - those were the first two I joined (AG is OOC, Sellswords is IC) and there appears to be a fair amount of activity on both. Kallan Artotios is my main, and I am almost always up for RP of some kind. Feel free to look me up if you like.
  10. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to stay for long, but I did make at least two new contacts. I'm also not a mage (yet), but it was still nice to see some folks getting together. I look forward to more.
  11. I wouldn't mind an invitation to this LS. I'm still a little fuzzy on how all that works, though. Please feel free to send me a PM on this forum if you don't mind explaining things to the special guy over in the corner. :frustrated:
  12. I. Basic Info Characters:Kallan Primary character:Kallan Linkshells:None Primary RP linkshell:None II. RP Style Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): Heavy - I tend to stay IC in any open chat. Tells/party can be either. I usually use the standard (( ... )) to denote OOC. Views on RP combat and injuries: As long as it's discussed beforehand, I don't have a problem with it. If the injuries would be expected to impact my own gameplay (ie. no one involved in a storyline would expect to see me hunting, gathering, or crafting after a given event), I probably won't be terribly interested. Views on IC romance: My characters are usually taken by the characters of my s/o. Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): Open for anything like this. I'm pretty flexible when it comes to adjusting my character's story on the fly either by adding a new twist to backstory, or whatever. I prefer not to use 'amnesia' as a plot device, though. Views on lore: Very pro-lore. I've only been playing for a few weeks, so I'm still trying to find good lore sources. Views on chat functions (/say, /linkshell, etc): I can and will use any and all necessary. I also loves me some emotes. III. Other Info Country:US Timezone:EST (GMT -5) Contact info:Kallan Artotios in game. Added a wiki entry: clicky!
