  1. We live and are very much still active and open for mem(e)bers!
  2. I made a translator for Pimrhi Dia's miqo'te language that he made, it's still a bit of a WIP and some of the things couldn't be put into the translator, but below the boxes are some tips and stuff! Hope you find it interesting and enjoy, it's really neat and a link to his wiki is there as well to actually learn the language, i just translated about 3000 words or so for it! http://t.umblr.com/redirect?z=http%3A%2F%2Flingojam.com%2FRiverDialect&t=M2EwOGRhMGMzNWU2NTAxY2NmODVmMmY1MTdhZGRiYTVhYTQ5OThjNCxLVnNtWmNvag%3D%3D
  3. Hey everyone, OP here. Please take discussion about how miqo'te are cat or dog like or anything unrelated to the first post to another thread. I posted to share a headcanon that others can use and talk about that specific headcanon, not get into an argument about miqo'te being catlike or not. I thank you once again for the replies that were on topic, but I would appreciate my thread not being so derailed and off topic discussions being taken elsewhere. Thanks for reading, I appreciate the passion some have for the race and I do take this into account and have read all the posts about it on my thread, but it was derailed from the start and I humbly ask that if further posts are made here they be about the OP and the topic at hand specifically. Thank you! --OP
  4. I would like to thank everyone for all varied replies and ways of thinking about the headcanon I posted first and foremost! I appreciate any and all feed back and while I disagree that people should limit the cat like behaviour in miqo'te, I also agree to a certain extent but it's easily avoided. If someone RPs something you don't enjoy or even cringe at you just don't RP with that person, and I respect that if you choose not to RP with me! It's an experience that is meant to be positive for all involved no matter how it's played! That said this is only my own personal headcanon that I'm not saying everyone should do, but I am inviting those who do like it to use it if they so choose to! It's not for everyone, and I understand if you think that it's a silly concept or 'too cat' for people to play, but I do think that belittling it or others who do RP cat like miqo'te is not okay. Sure, the nyaaah and fetishisations go far, and can even hinder other RPers who do not do this because of the general stigma, but it's hard to ignore that miqo'te are cat like to an extent and will act in certain ways depending on who you're talking to as they're so spread out, cultures within tribes are so different and individuals are different! I humbly ask that you respect your other RPers for how they choose to RP, whether it be strict to the lore or with a mix of that and further headcanons they took the time to come up with! Thank you once more for reading my post, and I admit I am disappointed that my post got derailed, however, I did ask for opinion and feedback and I do appreciate to hear what others had to say. Thank you!
  5. LOL imagine baby miqo'te trying to imitate their parents by booping each other but they go too hard and end up fighting each other! It would definitely be a lot of practice to get good at it, and everyone would boop differently but it's the thought that counts. Like you know when you give someone a hand shake and they squeeze a liiiiiittle too hard? maybe like that lmao
  6. So I've been using this in RP for a long, long long long long time and I've developed it quite a bit, so I figured I would make a post sharing the details and everything you need to know about forehead booping in miqo'te culture from a headcanon perspective, that could potentially fit in the lore to an extent (or not, but I think it does) To start, a forehead boop is similar to that of any genture of physical contact between humans, such as hugs, hand shakes, pats on the back, and the like. There are many different kinds of boops that all differ in meaning depending on how it's done and what happens before and after the actual touch happens! The 'hello and goodbye' boop, similar to a hand shake! When greeting a friend, a short, very brief and gentle knock to the foreheads can be a proper greeting. Typically done with the eyes closed, this boop means 'hello! I trust you, and I'm showing you respect!'. There is no 'dominant or submissive' within any of these forehead touches, as it's a simple greeting. When saying goodbye it would be the same brief forehead knocking, and possibly a wish of good travel and safety along the way! The challenge boop. Miqo'te, especially seeker males about to battle for nunhship may use this more often than others, however it is not exclusive to just them and anyone can use this to initiate a challenge. The two would place a hand at the back of each others neck to draw them in, press foreheads together and look into each others eyes, and push their opponent back. This is to say 'I respect you, and I trust you won't break my neck while we're this close and holding the necks, but I am challenging you and you better be ready." The close friends boop! Similar to one of greeting, this one involves closed eyes and a longer touch of foreheads and smiles. It is to show love, respect and trust much the same, but also serve as a much warmer hello or goodbye with scent marking due to being so close. The lovers boop! This is the one that lasts the longest and must have the eyes closed at all times. Hands can be placed on either the cheeks or back of the neck to bring the other in, and typically the two hold each other there for quite a while in comparison to the other touches of the forehead. They may even have a conversation or share I love you's while still together like this. Forehead kisses! Now these are the special kisses, shared by only the strongest love bonds of romance, or parental love for a child. ONLY the parents of the child may kiss the childs forehead, otherwise it may come as an insult for another adult to do so to someone's child (unless that child was adopted under that adult, in which case they would be considered family and it would not be insulting). Speaking of insults. To touch the forehead in any way other than with your own or your lips in some cases, would be a huge insult to the person on the receiving end. This of it like any equal to flipping someone off or outright disrespecting them. Say, you flick or slap or hit someone in the forehead. You're basically saying 'I dislike you' 'fuck off' 'you're worthless' 'I don't trust or care for you at all and you can go to hell!' Between siblings this might happen and be taken much more lightly, however outside of harmless family feuds this may be a huge insult and would not be taken lightly. Back to boops! A shoulder boop! Pressing ones forehead into a friends shoulder and giving a light push would be a comforting action, much like a pat on the back and a 'you'll be fine', or a 'I'm here to support you', or even a 'ahhh buck up it's no big deal you got this' depending on the context and what the booper says afterward. I came up with this headcanon and developed it like so based on lions nuzzling habits for claiming and scent marking! Over time, I've come to think that miqo'te foreheads would be somewhat of a special area of the body connecting them to their god, or, to their inner minds and spirituality as a whole. This is up for debate and what the forehead could mean for your own miqo'te! It could mean nothing and just be a cultural habit like handshaking is in western culture and bowing is seen in some eastern culture! This is all up for your own interpretation, and you can use it as you like in your own RP! I use it all the time and it has really developed a culture and quirk I can use to round out my character and make him distinctively miqo'te outside of the tail and ears! Thanks for reading, I hope you enjoy, and if you have any further idea's please feel free to post here as well! I would love to hear if any of these inspired other types of forehead boops and what they could possibly mean so that myself and others may use them in our own RPs!! Thanks!
  7. oooh I think thatd be cool, I put a little tid bit on my wiki about the paints! I still need to write up a more detailed forehead booping headcanon i have lol
  8. I found a lore tidbit on Keepers and their face paints, directed to me by my friend and I think it's very interesting, so below I'm going to first write out the leve discription, and then any dialogue that comes with starting and finishing the leve! "Moon in Rouge We Keepers of the Moon have a long history of decorating our faces with colourful paint before going into battle. We do this not only to honour the traditions of our clan, but to also let the Gods know that we are prepared to serve them as warriors in the afterlife, should we fall at the hands of our enemies. The paint we use is taken from the inedible red berries of a herb known as 'soldier's sore' that can be found growing in the South Shroud. My unit is willing to pay handsomely for any who can harvest the fruit and deliver it to our barracks." From what I read here, the paints may be red to signify battle and the willingness to serve the gods as warriors in the after life, other colours may indicate other things such as clans and looking for mates and the like, but that is just speculation. I do have a headcanon that if the colour of paint is a purple shade, that person is looking for a mate and wants to seem more attractive. (like you know how red is an attractive colour to humans and some animals like those baboons with bright red butts? Like that!) I say purple because keepers have red blood(as far as we know) and blue skin and undertones, so their blushes and -cough- genitals would be a shade of purple when aroused. So wearing purple paint may send off that signal of 'I'm looking for a mate', since Keepers do not have the luxury of nunhs, and mostly males wander and look for mates that way. (or just clan protection for a short time). i also think that the shape or what's drawn may communicate other things to the gods or other keepers. Like with Naoh'ra his paints are blue, the same as his mother wore to honour her, and they are shaped like shooting stars and her facial markings (not paints), in a way to ask menphina to grant him luck and what he deeply wishes for (from the stars), and to help him to show in his mothers image, and follow her footsteps (by mimicing her natural facial markings). The item's discription says "Though extremely deadly if consumed, the juice taken from crushed soldier's sore berries can be used to create a deep-red paint that closely resembles the colour of fresh blood." Interesting, so if you want to mimic this for your keeper, try and get it to look like fresh blood, not old browned dried blood! The berries are found in the South Shroud, around 25x, 18y just north of quarrymill. Note: I assume from how it's all worded, that you would not wear this outside of going into and battling, because of the specific message the red paints give. There was no dialogue for this quest other than the standard for the levemete, you speak to no keepers in this quest and get all the info from both the discription of the leve, berries, and speculation. I hope you enjoyed reading, and I would love to hear your comments and own theories! I assume that all keeper clans would differ in small ways and hold the same core values and traditions, with little variations. You're free to create your own interpritation for your own clans and keepers, as I have made some for my own as well! Thanks so much for reading, I hope you found it interesting as I did!
  9. Thank you all for your feedback and support! I'll be updating a separate post once I get a plot and work out the finer details on everything in the near future I hope everyone has a great day, and I hope to be able to RP with more people around this setting, death involved or not
  10. Thanks! I think the most use I'll get out of it is with the others in the Order I RP with, but it's exciting to get it started up
  11. Hello everyone just quickly announcing the start of a new RP spot in Balmung! I've been pinching my gil for a short time and gathering up a storm and I'll be buying a small house soon to turn into a funeral home and ossuary for the Order of Nald'thal This will be totally open to the public for RP, and characters of the Order or those who would like certain duties like security and the like would be welcomed to be a part of the home as an employee! Characters die at one point or another for various reasons, and many don't get to have funerals or events that really put the nail in the coffin so to speak. So, I'm opening my halls soon as they're built to any who would like to have this sort of RP event in a setting OTHER than the church in Drybone, which people can troll and also need for MSQ things, that could disrupt RP. Myself (Naoh'ra Ohndai on balmung) will be helping you to plan out funerals, specific settings and wills to be carried out under the Order of Nald'thal and I'll even be around to help you have a lore friendly funeral or even be there to assist your character in attaining or raising their virtue before they meet Thal. Feel free to reply here with ideas, inquiries or PM me for more details, I will be more than happy to answer or plot with you or just chat! Thank you all for reading!
  12. Overall there's some good points in either way about it, and I am totally down for both keeping things how they are and changing the names, so it got me thinking: It'd be pretty cool if we had the option to be able to have one set of names or the other, like a little button similar to the standard and legacy camera sort of thing. It would still probably bring confusion between players using the numbers or the other names when speaking of spells, though. I think that's where we hit a bit of a road block unfortunately and as great as it would be we are pretty late into the game to change a load of names. I still think it'd be cool and I'd be totally down for it if SE did ever go with it
  13. h e l l y e s -insert good shit meme here- the point of 'fire 2 gives 2 stacks' is really weird, and your point of it flowing better in RP is very true as well, esp for any characters who deal with magic, ESP those who teach it. 'cast fire 2' 'two fire?' 'no, fire 2, like fire but wider' '???' instead of something simple like 'please cast a fira please thanks' since they are different spells, it gives them more separation. Even if we have to remember new names ultimately, it doesn't change how the spells work or even the fact that most of us don't read the spell names from a menu but instead remember the icons B) 100% back this idea
  14. by how it's worded, is it implied that Fire IV is hotter than lava omg (also others in here have made some interesting points, overall it's been a good read! )
