  1. Well, I know I'll definitely be looking for a mentor, that can pull double duty IC and OOC! Might take an especially open-minded one to answer strange, odd, "... So, they're like vampires?/So, they're like plants?/So, you mean to tell me those plants are doing each other right now in front of everyone, by way of pollen?.. Huh. I can make something of that!" check out ze page below! ;-D. Kusumura's Profile! Or, you know. I could blindfold someone and take them to my dunge- to my room of fun, where there's no handcuffs or anything involved! What? That's crazy talk! There are no handcuffs, don't be silly! Why would there be handcuffs? You want a pair of dragon's balls? Why woul- OH, of course we have ze dragonballs! Jah, jah, sure!
  2. I. Basic Info Characters: Kusumura Mirokoshai Primary character: As above Linkshells: N/A Primary RP linkshell: N/A II. RP Style Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): Very heavy.. Unless I'm in the middle of something else, RP always jumps the queue and takes highest priority, no matter what! Don't be surprised if I jump in with a few whacky ideas. Years of GM'ing for a D&D server and coming up with stories that were just barely within the bounds of lore have nurtured a very sparky, LSD level of creativity. More on that below! Views on RP combat and injuries: RP Combat.. can be overly drama-filled. A younger me rather appreciated it, buuuuuut that's changed in my old-er age. Usually, I try to decide and agree about things OOC'ly to cut the drama a tad. Not a huge fan, but it's just a part of RP. Views on IC romance: Good stuff. Just as drama-filled as combat; only personal OOC feelings are tossed into the mix! While I don't... 'mind' mingling IC and OOC slightly, it irks me when nobody's said or laid down the rules of what's happening or going on. CLEAR communication must take place. Shyness is no excuse; Shyness just makes it worse. That said, I usually try to keep the divide between OOC and IC sharp and wide. Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): Not too huge on the 'family' deal as a personal preference for my characters (Er, character right now!), but it's interesting to see what others can come up with! Comraderies and what not are more than welcomed. Views on lore: I love knowing the lore of things, but I love being creative.. call it an admission of sin, but being a Law student (A pun my soul) OOC'ly, I do love to see just how far I can stretch and bend the lore of a setting to come up with, ah, 'alternative' interpretations. That said - I don't know the lore of Final Fantasy too well! I'd have to take a backseat for a while until I picked up on it and had a better understanding of what could and could not be flexed! In practice (For anybody that can fully understand, you may pat yourself on the back for being a Nerd): A long while ago, during a Fullmetal Alchemist-setting roleplay some friends and I were going with, some of the characters were being chased by Homonculi. In a desperate ploy, they decided to try their luck transmuting themselves beyond the Gate.. which is where I stepped in with the idea, "Wait. Wait, wait, wait. There's four of you. One black. Two white. One white female. Too perfect. SLIDERS-JAM!" aaaand we let them play out a few adventures roughly as the characters from the old Pseudo-Sci-Fi show Sliders did, jumping through different dimensions as they tried to find their way back home. Once they *did*, I interjected with another idea, "QUANTUM LEAP! Black guy dies first. Only, you haven't died yet! It's waaaayyy too good to pass-up! It's not your body you're back into.. and watch us, the Homunculi, just friken'... lose our bananas over it." Views on chat functions (/say, /linkshell, etc): They're fine. They're wonderful. I wish people (Specifically, those that ERP and/or run about espionage plots) knew how to use them! III. 3. Actually, I had been looking at Blue Skies and Corvus Cinus in the LS page. I suppose the self-plug works here - I most definitely would be interested in checking out Blue Skies. I'll drop an application on the LS' forums!
  4. I don't mind OOC guilds, though for a game where I'm predominantly signing up for the RP (Building though it is), that's the side of the pool I'll try to test first... and hope I happen to come across people my level in the process. . Going with the little introduction above, would anybody be able to recommend an LS that might suit Kusumura's character?
  5. After diddling around in a couple of other games a little.. I'm back! And looking to form up a lower-level group (RP and grinding - at once! Hoo-hah! Wizardry!) to y'know.. make things on FFXIV feel a little more like home. But I'm finding it quite hard to meet anybody my level (~10) that's willing to group-up, but oh well. If anybody wants to join me, feel free to drop a comment! <3.
  6. Bard. Definitely a Bard. It has Kusu written all over! Though considering his concept was originally from a DnD Bard... That's not surprising. But the fact that it requires Archer? It's like Square Enix took a look at Kusu's bio' and said, "Now, Kusu's player, here's your bone. It's the biggest bone we're handing out to any of our players! A job/class combination specifically made for YOUR character! Love us once more!"
  7. Well, I'll update my drivers and check up a few things after a fresh install (It fully installed this time, without having to resort to overriding anything) and see how that goes. Also making a mental note to stay the kriff out of the Black Shroud. . Back on the RP side of things, pretty standard fare otherwise from the sounds of things. /party for whatever you don't want other people involved in - or to be discreet (-Catgrowl. Rrreeeooowwww! Baby!) - or else /say if you're being open. The only thing I'm wondering, really, is what the ratio for Say:Party is. I've been in games where there hasn't been all too many people using /party to hide anything - aside from the reason above - with people joining them and leaving them often (Star Wars: Galaxies, Starsider server being an example) or others where everybody is in /party and giving everyone else not involved with them the snob and cold shoulder treatment (Pretty much any of the grind-based Korean games - which amazes me that they'd offer the cold shoulder, given it's a rather in-bred population of RP'ers in those games, really. Everybody develops the same faults, habits, styles.. 'cause there's only four RP'ers? ).
  8. I don't know, really. I'll probably keep an eye on the game. But, I need to see some more gameplay elements before I really start thinking about paying. RP-wise (Though I'm not in there, either yet), I'm sure it's fantastic - but it's a game, too. I think The Old Republic will have to tide me over for a month or two before I take a check on the ol' FFXIV again. The stigma is definitely there, no matter what game you go into and ask random people in.
  9. Thank you, guys! I'm lovin' the love! . Now, the Kusumura character I created previously seemed to be going quite well.. until I tried going around Camp Bentbranch and uhm. Crashed. Now I can't log in at all to the server with that character without the game crashing into firey powers of darkness with redness and whiteness.. I detect stupid things happening here. Could it be that I needed to manually override the patcher during installation (game.var and patcher.var files were altered)? Eh, who knows. But, it does look like I'mm'a' be starting again, whatever the case. Good thing I didn't have much, anyway! With regards to RP, do many people do open-RP'ing in FFXIV, or is it a little more.. reserved, sticking to specific groups and story-line members only?
  10. ((Oh, dear. Kicking it right off the bat into the RP... Hell yeah!)) It seemed that somebody had placed a rather sneaky notice up just inside of the walls of Ul'Dah - pinned onto an overhead stall hanging of the Merchant's Row, where the owner wouldn't notice as they hawked their wares, and passers-by were able to take in an excellent look at it. Who could afford to pay for advertising rights in such a prime location, after all? It was rather hard not to see it - what, with the portrait of a young black-haired man winking somewhat promiscuously at the audience with a rather cheesy grin, capped off with a finger pointing straight ahead like some sort of adventurer, the picture itself bordered with a rather gaudy array of rainbow arrangements and a disturbing shade of scarlet as the background for the whole note. Below this bright, colourful display, written in a very fine hand - although perhaps rushed, - would read in golden words, contrasting against the red backdrop: "KUSUMURA MIROKOSHAI! BOUNTY HUNTER EXTRAORDINAIRE! You need something done? I DO IT! I fix everything from chocobo tacks and saddles to relationships! No problem too big or small! Neighbour getting under your bonnet? I'll give him a complimentary pair of concrete shoes for the trouble! Monsters causing property damage? I'll handle them, protect the kids AND rebuild anything destroyed! Offering my services of 'problem-fixing' in exchange for all currencies, favours, promissory notes, alliances and drinks. Prices are based on situational needs and requirements, bargained and decided pro-rata. Extended contractual periods available." The individual advertising himself so would be lingering nearby, taking a mental snapshot of each interested party. Of course, Kusumura didn't leave any contact details - he didn't really know how people communicated in these lands, only passing through on travels elsewhere once or twice before. Ah, hey! There was time to figure it out later! /Roleplay . Felt like getting that out. Seemed like the place to do it! Greetings! I'm Phil, and I play Kusumura! I am an Aussie, Virgo, and looking for a good roleplay experience in an MMO. The only experience I have with FFXIV was messing around with the game for a week or two at launch (Eesh.. I shelled out $120 for the CE on the week of my birthday), which obviously.. didn't go down so well. But, hopefully, with the new updates being implemented soon, things will pick up, and I'm going to be here for that ride!
