Ah, this sounds great! I am still fleshing out Qo'an a bit and the idea of her being out in the wilds doing scholarly work with the arcane is a great way to add something to her character. I need to make some connections ICly as well, so we're in the same boat. I took a look through your wiki (I really need to get something for Qo up) and I'll PM you to chat and work something out. RP in-game or over Discord works well for me!

Hi there! I am a stickler for lore and I absolutely hate breaking it. If it could make sense, I'm alright with bending it; however, I prefer to make characters that appeal to more lore-heavy roleplayers. Bending so the character is unique, yet plausible for the world? A-okay. My issue is that I can't seem to find a lot of Au Ra lore! It looks like they are very rare in Eorzea and haven't spread out too much beyond Othard. What I'd like to do is have Qo'an be Sharlayan, mostly because I play as an Astrologian and would like to roleplay that as well. Also because I like the little gizmos a lot of Sharlayan scholars have, like those neat goggles. I'd like for her to somehow have a connection to her race as well – perhaps knowing how to read bones and / or blood spatters and learning that when young - but I'm not too sure if that could work with a 30 year old character. Her mother / father could have passed down some writings, but I seem to recall Xaela not having a writing system. I was thinking of potentially having Qo'an's mother give birth as a refugee in Sharlayan or having her abandoned as a babe / young child due to a physical disability to a Sharlayan cartographer in Othard (if that is an occupation for them). The latter could be interesting to roleplay, as I enjoy characters with physical flaws. So here are my main questions.. - Are Sharlayan Au Ra possible lore-wise? I can't find any hard evidence that says 'no', but I'd like to stick with popular opinion. - If I do this, what is an appropriate age? I am trying to keep her around late 20s, early 30s. - I am a little confused on the time line for the Sharlayan migration. They began as an island nation, migrated to Eorzea, and then withdrew back to their island at the Garlean threat after the fall of Ala Mhigo? Was the island nation still occupied during this time? Thank you for your time and help, and I apologize if any answers to the above questions are found in obvious places. I checked the wiki and tried to do some research online, but I couldn't come up with very concrete answers.. unless I dun goofed.

Hi there, Sena! I had such a busy day yesterday, so I apologize for missing your post. I haven't roleplayed with any Au Ra quite yet.. mostly because I'm trying to figure out the lore behind this toon. I'll probably be posting something in the workshop area, considering I've gone from a tribal-esque character to perhaps Sharlayan (if I can make it work, lorewise). I'm not ready for the hustle and bustle scene of a big roleplay night, but I would love to set aside some time to meet y'all and just have some slower paced fun. Once I have her background down, I think I'll be ready for the crazy spam-filled events. c; I'll join the Discord channel! Thanks for the invite and I appreciate your reply to my intro thread!

Hi, everyone! I've been lurking about for a while during my extended 'try-out' of the game. I originally played right when the original version came out, but only briefly. After a lengthy absence, I returned and thankfully had a few spots on Balmung! A few Fantasias and name changes later, I've decided on a toon to main. I've also stolen the Welcome template. --MMORPG background A lot. Tons. Mostly WoW, but I've gone through a few games to figure out where I'd like to stay. I've had it with WoW and FFXIV has a similar combat system - from my experience - and I've decided to stay after a good two months of playing! --RP experience Quite a bit. I started when I was very young with friends over email, but I'd say that I've been producing 'quality' roleplay for a few years. --Character ideas/info I currently play a Xaela, Qo'an Dazkar, and have been toying around with doing a little fan canon with her background, considering that there doesn't seem to be too much lore on the Au Ra. She's a ninja class-wise, but I was thinking of a version that developed outside of Doma. Seeing that Xaela are tribal, perhaps their mudra call upon their deities / ancestors. I dunno, I'll figure it out or keep it vague. As for her personality, the Xaela are noted as being fiery and violent; however, Qo'an is more of a seething rage until she explodes. Quiet, piercing gaze, etc. I don't want to go into the edgelord zone, so I'm working on keeping things balanced. --What kind of a role-player are you aiming to be? Light, medium, or heavy? Heavy, save for leveling or dungeons. --Anything from real life you're comfortable with sharing? (Work, school, hobbies, etc) I have two cats, a dog, two bearded dragons, and a boyfriend. It's like a zoo in here. Anyhow, feel free to chat with me in-game: Qo'an Dazkar is the toon's name.
