Hosts are selected on a first come, first served basis, however, and not all hosts on the dossier are available every opening, so please think of the dossier as a sample to peruse rather than a menu from which to order. "Upon arrival, please form a line since it is, as I said, first come, first served. Guests will be allowed in one client or group at a time after paying a 1,000 gil entry fee. We allow patrons in until all hosts have been paired with a guest or group of guests. Because we offer this personal, one-on-one service, we must close our doors once all hosts have been assigned. "Your host will provide you with meal service. They will be your companion over the meal, providing conversation or perhaps entertainment if they are artistically inclined. In Doma we had similar services - people who were trained in the fine art of providing company and entertainment, to make patrons feel happiness and relaxation. Our hosts are also professionals who work hard to provide this high caliber of service. Please do not mistake our business for a common brothel. We are a high class establishment serving premium dining and drink, and the company of first class hosts. Please do not disrespect our hosts by touching or requesting any sort of physical attentions. Standing over 8 and a half feet tall, and covered in all manner of battle scars and old tattoos of runes of protection. He has changed a lot since coming to Ul'Dah. He first was a socially inept Roe, but has become more accustom to his new life but still refers to himself in the third person when talking. He has had very violent and gruesome past which still haunts him and continues to interfere with his life. He fights using his hands, and a brick tied to a chain as well as geomancy. He enjoys picking flowers and working at the bar and fight arena he owns called "The Bloody Knuckle." He also helps his friends when they undertake jobs as a mercenary group. He talks to animals using a echo that he still does not understand saying "How can Ruckus have echo? we are not in cave?" He has many things you can discover in RP with him like when he says he has died 8 times before. He also canonically tells dad jokes! He is currently looking for a woman to build a relationship with, but also enjoys making new friends! Example of my RP: Ruckus walked through the door looking around at the surrounds of the house. "Oh! Ruckus enjoys your house! It little small for Ruckus but not mind!" He took a seat in the chair trying his best to not take up much room, but it was hard considering his size. "So! Ruckus has been told you want to know more about Ruckus?" He put a finger on his chin "Hmmmm...Oh! Ruckus knows jokes! What are bald sea captains most afraid of? Cap Sizes!" He bit his lip holding back a chuckle. About the Player: Well Im the player so it is what it is! Im really laid back and I have been RP-ing since I was 16 so coming up on 10 years. Its a huge outlet for me that I really enjoy. Im normally around on discord when Im not at school but I normally respond very quickly. Also be aware that I know I have spelling errors and grammatical mistakes in my posts and I apologize. I spent some time in a coma a while back and my dexterity will never truly come back, but I do try my best to make sure Im clear, and If you ever have any questions feel free to ask! Also as iv been asked alot before if I do "ERP" for some reason, and I do but Ruckus is very clear on wanting to know the person alot before hand n stuff. Fresh sheets of parchment can be found posted upon the market boards of Gridania, Limsa Lominsa, and Ul'dah respectively. Each is thin, scribed eloquently in a bold, lilting hand. The characters appear in deep crimson ink upon its face, begging to be read: The Grindstone The Grindstone will be holding an official Blood Match tournament for its fighters every Saturday. Any and all are invited to spectate, as the events will be free to the public. We request only that those who attend are respectful of our fighters. If you are not, you will be asked to leave. In order to participate in this event for prestige, please contact Sigyn Shieldbreaker of the The Grindstone in Ul'dah or arrive no later than half-past the ninth evening bell. Up to sixteen contestants will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis. Any who seek to participate in our sparring matches are also welcome to find us on any other evening at the site where we will hold our competition-- Outside the city of Ul'dah in Central Thanalan in Fesca's Wash. If you are interested in joining the Grindstone Linkshell, ask for Sigyn Shieldbreaker, Dhatura Inoxia, Lizbet Sharpe, or for any available Overseer to procure a pearl. An entrance fee of FIVE hundred gil is required in order to participate-- the collective amount will be presented to the respective Champion. RULES: 1. All weapons and armor are allowed. 2. Non-lethal shots to the groin, extremities, or to the head are allowed. 3. Any use of magic whether passive, defensive, beneficial, or offensive is currently NOT allowed. 4. Death blows are not allowed. By entering the tournament, you hereby agree to the Overseers preventing you from committing such an attack by any means necessary, even if it means your death. 5. Overseers WILL be respected and treated as a temporary form of authority by all spectators and combatants in regards to the tournament itself. 6. If a winning combatant in a bracket refuses healing, they will be refunded their entrance fee and removed from the tournament. Time: Saturdays at 10 pm EST (Time Conversion) Location: Fesca's Wash in Central Thanalan. The Bridge Events: Official sparring tournament for the Grindstone. A minimum of four participants per event are required in order to hold that event. Journeyman: Free-form* (Temporarily Closed) -Fight proceeds until an opponent concedes, physically or verbally. Journeyman: Roll-based -Fight proceeds until THREE successful strikes have been placed on the abdomen, a ring-out, pinning, or physical/verbal surrender. Requirements: -All armor is allowed and may be used as extraneous weapons. -All weapons are allowed. -Accessory weapons should be moderated. -Magic is NOT allowed during matches. -Entrance fee of 500 gil (flexible). -If you intend to enter the event, please remain outside a party so that you can join a party with your opponent from tier to tier. Hello! I return to Balmung after a several month hiatus, now that life and work has settled down for me. I'm looking for RP / RP partners, long-term or short-term. I'm a lore-friendly player who can go along with bending but who tries not to break. OOC bleed is a big, big no for me. Realistic actions/reactions and consequences are my jam. My limits are few and far between but I don't do gore/ERP for gore/ERP's sake. I prefer a mix of slice-of-life/downtime character development RP and adventure/action RP rather than one over the other. In-game > Discord, but I'll sometimes do both since conflicting schedules can be a pain to work around. I am in EST and usually available after 5-6 PM on weekdays except for Tuesday and varying times on weekends. At this moment I am only seeking RP for one character. Rory Dalton, or as he tends to go by, Dalton. From humble beginnings, he was raised by his recently-diseased grandmother on a Gridanian farm, where he did his best to keep life exciting... which, given his limited resources, tended to be things like dyeing his hair, getting tattoos, carving curse words into the boles of trees. You get the idea. Only 19 summers (though he perhaps looks a few years older at a glance), he has a lot of youthful arrogance left, convinced he knows the facts of the wider world. He really doesn't. Currently in Ul'dah and essentially homeless, he goes from place to place, surviving on the gil he made by selling his late grandmother's modest parcel of land, although those reserves are being swiftly depleted by inn fees and frequent visits to places like the Gold Saucer. Dalton has skills in all things farming (via upbringing), cooking (via personal interest), and has a fondness for animals. He is somewhere between a people person and standoffish, depending on the day and how much he's had to drink. He has a budding interest in machinist-based things (guns, turrets, general machinery) but lacks the resources to pursue it at the moment. I am open for his development going just about anywhere RP takes it, and am also open to pre-established relationships with characters who may have known him prior to now. Things like friends, enemies, frenemies, mentors, walk-ups, and everything between. Dalton is bisexual but tends to be romantically aloof. Any romance plots would need be purely organic as I don't like to force things. Since I don't really check in here often please hit me up on discord (Kayfabe#2426) if interested!

The Grand Tilt of Coerthas The House de Bayle and Sir Basile Feurieux - Vassal and Knight, Lord of House Feurieux Start Date: 6/18/2018 - 8:00 PM EST ---- Hosted Bi-Weekly ------------------------------------ Hosted by Ser Basile Feurieux in Camp Dragonhead, the Grand Tilt proves to be a glorious event involving all manners of Ishgardian culture. Lords, Ladies, Squires, and Men-at-Arms all flock to the tilt in order to win glory for one’s heraldry, acquire the favor of a Lady or Lord, to witness illustrious spectacle beyond belief, or to practice mounted combat in a vicious trial by fire. The resonance of lance attacking lance echoes throughout the camp, providing an atmosphere hardly found anywhere in Eorzea. Witness then, the true pinnacle of Ishgardian fighting technique and a mixture of fanciful, but gritty vibrance. All are welcome, whether an imposing Viscount or an austere citizen. Warriors and cavalrymen from all over are yet encouraged to sign up in order to prove their prowess on the sturdy back of a Chocobo. Step forward now, aspirants who seek valour and glory, to manifest and prove your strength as Halone’s victor. All contestants shall be called forward to line up in front of the host. The lists will then follow in announcement, along with the first set of tilting combatants. Then, upon the designated time, contestants of the Joust should ready their Chocobos with protective bardings. Spectators shall be placed on the side of the field. The “field” consists of a two lanes sectioned off by a fence in which opponents will charge at each other from opposite sides. Both participants shall ride towards each other and pause to roll and then proceed to the other side. When reaching the other side, the combatants shall return to their place, which proves designated by the bannerman or squire. Requirements to participate: All participants should be armored with a strapped, closed helm, have enclosed gauntlets and breastplates, and a shouldered shield of some sort. Each contestant’s three alloted lances must be at the length of ten fulms and should have a blunted, metal tip. All contestants should be in healthy physical shape and have no injuries that would hinder their ability to joust fairly. The criteria for winning will then consist of the following rules: Whoever first scores three points or unhorses their opponent shall be the winner of their bracket. At the beginning of each match, the Chronicler of the Joust will explain the identities of both combatants while they prepare. When both combatants have emoted being prepared, the announcer will declare the charge. In order to gain a point, you must break your lance on the other opponent. Rolls will dictate whether this happens or not and opponents should emote accordingly after they have proceeded to the other side. 1-400 is a miss or a hit without breaking your lance. 401-600 is a lance break. 601-849 is a staggering lance break, which staggers their opponent and nullifies their attack (Unless they have rolled an unhorse on you). 850+ from the opponent is an unhorse. At the moment both participants connect and roll, the announcer will decide and yell out to the audience what the outcome is. When both jousters proceed past each other, they will round around the opposite side back towards their designated side and retrieve another lance. Should both jousters score the same category, whoever rolls the highest will be considered the winner and will have hit first. If both opponents break their lances by rolling 301-700, however, a point will be given to both combatants. After a lance breaks, the participant must retrieve a new lance from their Squire or bannerman. Once they have all emoted receiving new lances and adjusting for the next run, the announcer will ready the charge once more. Should an opponent purposefully or accidentally harm their adversary’s Chocobo they will be disqualified. The winner of the whole joust will be allowed a parade lap around the field in order to celebrate, advertise the heraldry of their House or allegiance, or dedicate the success to a Lord/Lady. There will be no monetary or physical prize for winning the joust, but all in attendance will see you as the most chivalrous and skillful jouster in the lists. Fame, glory, and chivalry await you at the Jousting Tournament during the Grand Tilt of Coerthas!

Spellstone Tournament Sundays, 8pm EST @Fesca’s Wash, Central Thanalan ( 21.0 , 25.8 ) ~ The following advertisement is placed in every major publication in Eorzea, with colorful fliers strewn throughout the four city-states. ~ Students of magic, brothers and sisters of sorcerous might. For some time now we have heard your concerns regarding the state of magical competition in Eorzea. It is no secret that it is rather difficult to conduct a tournament of magic users. One cannot imagine why this might be the case, though I would hazard that we are a inquisitive sort, as keen to push the boundaries of our chosen arts as we are to test ourselves against our peers in the realms of spellcraft. Although one could also argue that the authorities feel a certain degree of discomfort when a group of people who can set said peers ablaze with words gather in the one location, and this tends to make for a tense atmosphere for all concerned. Our company has some experience with regulating a wide scale tournament with a cast of diverse and colourful participants, as anyone who attends the Grindstone can attest. Therefore, in partnership with our colleagues from the distant shores of the Far East, we offer those of a magical disposition a similar opportunity to test their might against their fellow Archons and Magisters, Sorcerers and Warlocks, Wizards and Scholars alike. Are you at the pinnacle of your art? Shall your foes tremble at your arcane might, or shall your flame be consumed by the magecraft of your foes? Spellstone employs a simple set of rules meant to ensure the relative safety of competitors, staff, volunteers, and spectators alike. Any who are familiar with other fighting tournaments (such as the Grindstone) will already have a grasp of these rules, but for those who have never participated in such events, we ask you to read over them very carefully before deciding whether you wish to compete! Any and all are invited to participate, from seasoned archmage to learning student of the arcane; this is a contest meant to give those of magical inclination a battleground to test themselves and their mastery, as well as foster relations between mages from all walks of life! Rules IC 1. No force that would be lethal - even without the dampening field. While injuries and pain will be sustained on the field of battle, we at Spellstone do not condone outright murder, dismemberment, or permanent harm of any participants. Remember that you are within sight of Ul’dah’s gates - Immortal Flames are on hand at any moment to deal with attempted murder and drag away the offending individual to face incarceration or otherwise. 2. No illegal magics - this includes Black Magic, White Magic, Void Magic, Necromancy, etc. Have a care of your surroundings and do not do anything that could earn you the suspicion of your peers or alert authorities to illegal actions. 3. No removing your opponent's will to fight via sleep spells or other mental manipulation. This is a contest of magical strength and prowess; if you are not going to fight fairly, do not enter. 4. No animals. 5. You will be medically cleared before beginning each round. If you have sustained injuries, they will be healed via potion or spell. You will not be allowed to move on if you deny healing and recovery-based tonics. 6. No use of ether potions or other external means to regain Aether. This is also a test in managing your resources. As specified under rule three, if you do not intend to fight fairly, do not sign up to compete! 7. No fighting with a condition that will make your participation in the tournament more dangerous ( such as an unhealed prior injury or pregnancy ). No staff, volunteers, or participants in Spellstone wish to worsen prior health conditions to the point they endanger your life. Have a care for yourself and others around you. 8. This is a tournament of magic - no striking your opponent with martial weapons and techniques. Use of melee weapons as foci or a means to direct your magic are accepted, but do not attempt to cleave your opponent in two; save that for the Grindstone. OOC 1. Treat everyone with basic respect and decency. 2. If you have concerns related to the Spellstone or its participants, bring them directly to leadership. This includes concerns relating to the "lore friendliness" of spells your opponent is using, ways to improve the event and Discord, concerns about the OOC history of other participants, special considerations your character will need, and many more things. We won't know unless you tell us! 3. By participating in the Spellstone, you agree that if your character is disruptive, staff characters will be able to overpower them and remove them from the event. This will be done ICly via features built into the spell dampening field, so that we don't force you to accept that our characters can automatically beat yours in a fair fight. 4. No gatekeeping or policing. Unless a character's player has been issued a ban by the staff, they are welcome. If you feel any characters or players who are present should be kept away, bring your concerns to the staff (see OOC rule 2). This also governs IC posturing and threatening to keep people you don't like away. Participation is optional and by participating you agree to adhere to all rules. ~ There will be a prize of 300k to the tournament victor at the end of the night - as well as an additional sur-prize for the winner, which will change every week! ~ Caveats to be aware of: All of us at Spellstone understand that disconnections can happen at any time, for any number of reasons. However, in the case of such, participants will only be alloted 10 minutes once their character disappears from the game world to log back in. Should a participant not return within this time limit, their match will be considered a forfeit and their opponent allowed to advance. This is in the spirit of keeping the tournament fair and moving forward. ~ We will be using the Grindstone approach of /random rolling for defense and offense! ~ Event staff and volunteers can be found by the Looking to Meld symbol, though a detailed list is provided below.

Hi all. Some may or may not recognize my name. I've been around since the dawn of FFXIV, and despite my occasional retreat into the shadows, I've actually never left the game (at least not longer than a month at a time). That's right. I've been around, even if on other characters, since 2010. Insanity or just insane dedication? >.> I have, however, become increasingly distant to the RP community at large. I admit, I've been struggling to find an 'in' of any sort and feel a bit displaced. Tis probably a natural thing for someone who is technically considered part of the 'old guard.' This will be the third time in the last few years I've attempted a making connections topic like this, and it will admittedly be my last ditch effort to stay active in XIV's RP community, so I'm really hoping for success this go around. But I simply can't do it alone, and am fully willing to admit that after playing solo for about 1-2 years now. Despite my vast history with the RPC, I'm actually not that big of a socialite >.>;. Most/all of my past connections have moved on in some capacity or another, and I'm unfortunately not so good at moving on myself. I'm the type who typically finds something he likes (people/environment/etc) and want to keep that for as long as possible. I also think the culture of the RP community has changed gradually over the years to something that, for me, is very challenging to engage in. So here I be, asking for help in making new connections that can make me comfortable around people and RP again. I'd greatly appreciate any help that can be given. With that said, here's some things I'm looking for! My old characters (Kylin, Elza, and the entire Felstar/Mavanix clans) have been permanently retired. I have no intention of bringing them back, aside from possible cameos or something akin to that if the need arises (unlikely). I'm starting a new character, from the ground up with zero interactions so far. I prefer heavier RP, moderate lore compliant leanings, stable environments (poofing people/characters has been a massive problem for me over the years), and a healthy balance of slice of life RP and big storylines/action/etc. I love IC drama, as long as it's believable and stays IC. My past characters have been known to do all kinds of things that brought various different RPers together across the board for different reasons (usually dramatic IC scheming fit for soap operas >.>; ). While I may have 'dulled' a bit with age, I still crave some level of those types of interactions. Availability is heavy on weekends (Friday/Saturday being the only days I can stay up as late as necessary). I work early mornings M-F, and can be available in the late afternoons for a few hours at a time. I am on Eastern Standard Time. As the character is an eco-terrorist, the easiest means of interacting would be bonding over mutual love of nature, or doing something that may be perceived as a threat to nature and thus becoming a 'target.' I am open to other methods as well of course. With that wall of text done, please feel free to reply, PM, or tell the linked character in game with any story/RP ideas and invites. I really want to stick around this community and game (there really isn't any other MMO that interests me in the slightest...). Character Name: Rajal Akeem Character Age: He looks around mid-twenties, perhaps a tad older. Character Gender: Male. Character Sexuality: Straight. Character Race: Judging by his physical features, Seeker. Character Profession: Officially on paper, a gardener. Unofficially, a mercenary-jobs contractor. Character Residence: He is seen often loitering in and out a building in the outskirts of Ul'dah. [Character Background & General Flavour] Rajal has recently arrived in Ul'dah following a personal tragedy that saw his farmstead in the desert completely wiped out by savage assaulters. [Ask for more information ICly.] Seeing himself lost and faced with the new city reality, he swiftly had to pick up on the hectic pace and now endeavours in making the Desert Jewel his new home. One may say that he is a refugee like many, but even if he sees the Sultanate as a point where to drastically start over his life, he is still a son of the desert and his nature often has him longing for the dunes and the scorching sun. He is the kind of rustic character that can "bend the world around himself under the will of his hands". Basically what he doesn't know in books, he knows in actual practicability. Just like some bookworms don't have any strength in their hands or can't open a pack of chips, but can do equations in their heads within seconds, he's instead the kind of guy who's never clumsy with his hands and possesses a practiced degree of dexterity. In his 'everyday life', he cuts things just right, has a sense of proportion, he knows laws of physic very well by direct experience, he never let things slipping off his hold, always ties knots in the right way, so on and so forth. So there is a lot of rural knowledge into his hands and his eyes, all of his wisdom is comparable to the one of our ancestors -- whom, were far more skilled in "practical life" than our digitalized generation will ever be. Rajal can't tell you the history of Eorzea, but he knows how to fix a leaking plumbing or how to predict incoming rain just by smelling the wind or observing cattle behaviour. [Character Personality] Qualities ↑ A Loyal Friend and Partner: Rajal has a strict code of honour to himself and values fairness and friendship above many things. He is not the kind to trick you or screw you over first, his disposition is often inclined to the philosophy of 'Let's play fair'. Once he established a relationship with someone, he is the serious kind that sticks around and is actively present in people's lives, always ready to offer help or a word of comfort. Being him strongly independent-minded, it is very hard to sway him about people merely with bad rumours. In a sense, Rajal is a fairly mature man who knows the meaning of commitments all too well and adheres to them as a matter of principles. That, however, does not mean that he is entirely law-abiding. The notion of 'fairness' is often relative in Rajal's world and he tends to 'pay people back with the same coin'. ↑ Stubborn and Determined: Rajal works hard for what he wants and never gives up, unless it's literally a matter of life or death. Whatever he desires, he goes way beyond his capabilities to achieve it. Given his firmness of heart and mind, the man tends to reach his objectives, no matter how long it might take to get there. It is often a bumpy ride, but that never discouraged him. At the same time, every failure in his life at achieving what he wanted still weighs on him greatly and probably will never be fully digested. ↑ Empathic, Brotherly, Good Listener: Lacking the selfishness and egocentrism of many, Rajal is very receptive to other people. Having been a victim of extremely harsh times and deep dejection of heart, he often holds out a helping hand in support to whoever needs it - which often makes him take onto a 'brotherly' or 'best-friendy' role. His support has no subtle second intentions and this leads girls and guys to feel safe around him, knowing that he is not there to get something out of them - especially of intimate nature. In that sense, he is very much a man of honour. ↑ Humouristic and Humble: Rajal loves jokes and to laugh. He is the kind that if he can crack a stupid joke, he will, and often his humour is fairly cheap - but it is for that reason, that it causes hilarity. Furthermore, he is a modest soul at the core: having lived a life of intense devotion to hard work and poor rewards made him a self-forged man of solid values without any pretense of self-righteous pride. To make him happy, one doesn't have to go further than a good meal and some good company, after having spent the entire day sinking his hands into the earth's soil. ---------------- Flaws ↓ Uncultured and Poor on Knowledge: Having lived most of his life in a secluded community in the desert did not give Rajal a chance to dedicate himself to a lenghty education. He knows how to write and read and he knows his way around Thanalan and the laws on the desert, but you will find his mind to be completely blank on history, general culture, and everything that requires a moderate attendance to school. One could say that he is the classic ignorant farmland yokel. ↓ Prejudiced, Struggles to Stay Open-minded: When Rajal doesn't understand a point of view coming from others, the gates of his acceptances are closed. Well aware of this flaw of his, he has been working on himself to try to see things from other people's points of view, but he is often narrow-minded and sticks to his beliefs, no matter how erroneous they may be. It is difficult to change his mind or make him see reason and that is often a cause of arguments with people. Fortunately, he possesses a smidge of self-insight that makes him take a step back from his density of mind and tries to expande his horizons of opinion. ↓ At Times, Quick To Anger: While this is an entirely situational flaw (meaning that it depends a lot on what's the matter and who is involved), there are certain topics that trigger him into a swift burst of flames. Some subjects are more sensitive than others and when a sore spot is touched, he reacts with great amounts of annoyance that are entirely out of his control. That might cause insults to fly or worse, a physical approach to be taken if the other party doesn't back off or taunts him further. However, this passionate approach to wrath is fairly rare and it regards only specific matters. ↓ Hardly Forgives: Once trust is broken, it is nigh impossible to bring it back to its former state. Disagreements that bring him to a huge disappointment make Rajal carry a grudge forever. Once the 'ancient splendor' of things is gone, there is no mending - unless the apology and 'make-up-to' are of extraordinary impressiveness. But who would go to that extend? Most of his serious deal-breakers end up with him losing the desire to deal with the other party of the disagreement, and fade away into nothingness.The more he cares about someone, the bigger will be the magnitude of his sorrow and the detachment that will follow. Naturally, this applies only to matters of exceedingly dire seriousness. [Possible RP Hooks] Alley Lurker: Rajal is often seen loitering in the filthiest and less reccomendable alleys of Ul'dah, talking with a myriad of individuals - albeit what's behind such low-toned conversations, remains unknown. At times, he is seen exchanging money with rags-clad inhabitants, in the most worn down corners of the city. Ever so fleeting, his presence never lingers for too long. [Dark / Mature themes involved] Desert Loiterer: The verdant-eyed Seeker often crosses the threshold of the Ul'dahnian walls to head into the desert - at times for hours, other times for days. The man can be spotted transporting wares in and out of the gates. It is not unusual to catch his fleeting presence in trading outposts built around oasis. Jobs-giver: It is rumoured that Rajal is not a stranger to pay 'volunteers' to do something for him. At times he is seen tagging along, other times, he does not. It happens that sometimes the kind of tasks he gives out, are not the kind one can find pinned on the bulletin board. The black-skinned Seeker does not speak openly about them either. Non-Tribal Miqo'te: It is word of mouth that Rajal doesn't share any roots with his former tribe. Thus, he might not have the common notions of tribal customs, behaviour or religious beliefs. The reasons why he appears to be so detached from his biological family ties is not commonly known and might have to get investigated. --- How To Approach? -- You can approach him freely without asking me for pre-emptive consent, whenever you see him loitering in Ul'dah! In such times, many feel as if they have nowhere to turn, and nowhere to hide from what plagues them. The sanctuary of the New Dawn strives to change that. Overseen by Ahzra’li Lhomi and his partner, Marcus Feral, the New Dawn is a shelter for those who need to recover from their traumas or hide away from greater powers that wish to hurt them. There, people will find protection, comfort, medical care, and those who wish to help find resolution to problems, no matter what form they come in. There is strength in numbers, and strength in togetherness. WHO WE ARE The New Dawn is a heavy RP Free Company on the Balmung server of FFXIV, focused on characters who are being hunted, recovering from traumas, and adventurers and healers who wish to help them. Outside of roleplay, we strive to be a close-knit, welcoming, and relaxed community for our members and friends. Our goal is to provide a place for roleplayers to come and tell their stories; we encourage all of our members to bring their own personal plots and explore them with us. We do not tolerate characters who are blatantly written to be unrealistic in terms of combat capabilities, magic, or other abilities. Introduction Metaphysick are a company of paranormal investigators led by a mysterious benefactor. We're a tight-knit group of friends and allies, preferring quality over quantity in our membership. An overarching plotline keeps us moving forward each week while social and one-shot events occur on a regular basis. We are mostly active during EU peak hours, i.e. between 5 pm and midnight GMT, although we do have a few NA members. Background Metaphysick was established by someone known only as 'M', with the goal of forming a professional team to cleanse Eorzea of the voidsent menace. M spares no expense in providing their employees with the tools required to do their job and generously compensates them for their efforts. Speaking only via linkpearl and keeping both methods and motives close to heart, some would no doubt be loath to trust this mysterious figure, but thus far they have proven true to their word. What We Do We are paranormal investigators based in Mist, Ward 12, Plot 35, also known as the Midnight Bastion. Our roleplay largely revolves around undertaking work for our anonymous benefactor, M. He or she is devoted to eradicating the world of voidsent; to that end, we exterminate creatures as well as capture and study them in order to improve our techniques. As we deal with combat fairly often, we use a flexible combat system which has been crafted and tuned over the course of several years but still allows plenty of room for creativity. Using the game's built in /random text command, we determine hit chance and other variables. Each character is also allowed personalised abilities to improve those numbers, provide support and more. Of course, not every roleplay session is going to end in blood; to that end, we have a system for determining the success of actions such as sneaking, bluffing and so on. Every character's skills and flaws are taken into account to keep situations realistic, so a scrawny librarian will have a harder time moving a large boulder than a muscle-bound warrior. But sometimes we just want to kick back and relax. Impromptu social gatherings and holiday parties are regular features, where you can get to know your allies outside of the field of battle. We also keep an eye on Balmung's roleplay scene and encourage members to attend publicly held events with us. Who We Want We have a small but active player base and want to keep our friendly and intimate atmosphere. As a result, we seek like-minded individuals who will participate regularly and take the many opportunities given to fit in and make themselves at home. Everyone is welcome to host events and we are happy to assist those who have little or no experience running a plot, whether it be co-DMing or merely providing advice. Any character with an interest in voidsent, the occult, ancient ruins or simply wanting to make the world a better place would find good company here. As you can imagine, we are predominantly good-aligned and would only make an exception for extremely well-written malicious characters. IC A company that was once run by two Ala Mhigans who felt their glory years had passed. They retired and, with them, the company did as well. Ownership of the company plot and rights to act as a free company passed hands for some time until, finally, it landed in the hands of Aedan Blacke. Aedan, as a friend of the original owner of Black Griffin Adventuring Company, sought to restore the company to its former glory. As such, he met with the original owner, learned the tricks of the trade, dusted the cobwebs out of the house, met with contacts to begin gathering work, and opened the doors. As such, Black Griffin Adventuring Company had been reborn.... OOC Overview Black Griffin is a company of fun-loving adults that want to have a good time playing all aspects of the game together. As a company, we strive to offer an immersive and fun environment for RP, PvE, and even PvP should the player so desire. A Home for a Broad Spectrum of Characters Black Griffin is a company that was founded to fill what we thought was a hole in the community: a lore-abiding company that offered both adventuring and slice of life for all that joined. The company not only offers adventuring through the use of the house's leveboard and contracts, but also a social atmosphere for both company members and their friends to gather. The large majority of our events will have an adventuring theme much like one would pick up from the Adventurer's Guilds and Grand Companies around the game and, as such, will take place out in the open world. Adventurers, not Warriors of Light As a company we tend to run what some might consider "lower power level" characters. What this means is that our characters are not paragons of their chosen fields. While they may well be skilled in what they do, they are not capable of leveling mountains, taking on small armies on their own, or creating craters with their powers. We like for everyone to share the spotlight while telling stories, not for one invincible character to shine brighter than all others. Transparency We're a company that offers transparency from the officer core. All things done by the officer core will be known to every member of the company. We do this for two reasons: We wish for this to be a company made by every individual member, not just a select few people with the powers to kick, invite and promote. Anything done by the officers is not meant to be secretive. If and when a decision is made, a post to inform every member of the company will follow. The post may not be verbatim what the officers said during their discussions, but it will contain every pertinent detail. This also includes our applications. All applications submitted to our company are viewable by every member of the company as we value their input on the potential applicant as well. Casual Atmosphere Looking over the various posts in the forum might give the impression that we're overly serious about everything. We're not. While we do like particular themes and environments for our RP, such as particular lore and "realism" standards, we still take a casual approach to it all. We're not looking to be a huge company filled to the brim with hundreds of players. Our aim in making this company was to provide a home for like-minded people that wanted casual-paced RP, based in lore and "realism". As such, we will never really have any large recruitment drives in the hopes of grabbing tons and tons of people, but will instead use the occasional party finder post and pokes in whispers here and there. This casual nature also flows into our event planning. We all have lives outside of the game and use this game as a way to de-stress and "escape". Having to worry over having weekly events and the like doesn't do much to serve that purpose. As such, while officer-led events will happen, they may not be on a weekly basis. We're just here to play the game as a group, enjoy some RP along the way, and get phat lewts from punching pixels. All Aspects of the Game We're a group that loves all aspects of the game, not just the RP. So, often times, you'll find many of us running dungeons and raids, pulling together groups to make money doing treasure maps, and sometimes getting together to grind out wolf marks for those sweet sweet PvP glamours (and sometimes achievements). To help facilitate this, the company has a discord that all members (and their friends, within reason) are invited to upon invitation to the company. The discord is often used to remind members of upcoming events, as a way of communication between members for both general conversation and RP when otherwise unable to get on the game, and has several voice channels to accommodate any number of groups in the game at the same time. Discord is never required, but is certainly highly encouraged. You'll often see members sitting in the general voice channel just "shooting the shit" together. Hello and well met; greetings and well wishes~. A long time roleplayer and writer here, attempting to spread her wings in a new server which I heard holds promise! Truth be told, my character is rather adaptable and open minded and I am more than happy to meet everyone and anyone who might be interested in meeting a hushed and doll-like raen, new to the lands of Eorzea. I plan to have her grow into a more fleshed out character as I use her, so if anyone has the patience to guide her into -- anything really -- do feel free to approach. I hold basic knowledge that the Quicksand is a hub for like-minded roleplayers, and I will do what I can to pick through here to find interesting FCs or other places to meet. However if any one knows of other places or just has some social groups for me to integrate into I would very much love to get more IC interaction. Hi! I'm new on Balmung and would like to find acquaintances or small groups who RP. History and RP preferences - I've played FFXIV for a while, and before that some Korean MMOs, but never RPed in those. I played an RP MUD (text based game) long ago where my char joined a group of mercenaries and we had hunting parties and drank a lot and occasionally got swept up in ongoing conflicts IC. That was really fun and i hope to relive a little of that. Finally I'm a Dark Souls nerd and really love how souls lore and dialogue is written. .. and, so, i'm looking for RP friends! I was also wondering if there exist any linkshells for RP newbies, especially those of us who love and wish to stay in our non-RP FCs. I'm not confident enough to walk up to strangers or attend events alone, so if anyone else feels the same, maybe we can go to events together, or plot OOC until we work up the courage to have our chars meet IC... Char info - Sui Bian is a devout follower of Nophica the Matron and employee of the Botanists' Guild, tending the gardens at Greatloom Growery or repairing equipment. Though he seems to have gone to great lengths to settle down in Gridania, he often makes small pilgrimages to places like Nophica's Wells or the Sagolii Desert - wherever life thrives where it shouldn't. Finally, despite his fervent praise of Nophica, he may accidentally swear by the Fury on particularly heated occasions. Dark of hair and face, his appearance is pleasant but unremarkable, his height somewhat short - for an elezen - and his age seemingly anywhere between twenty to thirty summers. I. Basic Info Characters: Balmung: Ianto Evander - Kind-Heart, endearing and skittish much like a rabbit. He's perpetually tired and perpetually worried about your well being. Big Mom Friend vibes. Elis Evander - Socially awkward and aggressively honest, Elis seems to always be moody. He cares...he's just got a funny way of showing you he does, like a cat who brings you the gift of dead rodents left on your floor late at night. Gwen Evander. - Pretty put together compared to her messy older brothers. She is extremely kind but a very focused individual, perhaps a little bit of a control freak. Everything happens for a reason. Probably has a pinterest of inspirational quotes. Riko Momose. - Big on growing bored of people, pouting and being a social-butterfly. She'll will judge a book by it's cover. If she had an Instagram there'd be a lot of posts about "cutting out the drama" and how girls seem to just hate her for some reason! Mateus: Ophelie Lothaire - she's brand newww! And will be fleshed out more as I finish the MSQ. Very serious sort and a little awkward because of it but loyal to those dear to her. Primary character: Ianto and Elis. II. RP Style Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): I can do any depending on the scene. However, if I'm in a busy scene I appreciate some order as it is hard for me to keep up. Views on RP combat and injuries: They're fine as long as serious injuries are consensual. I am not against more permanent injuries but that kind of RP is for those close to me and requires a lot of thought! But please, punch Elis in the nose. Views on IC romance: I'm absolutely fine with it but I generally reserve relationships for people I know. I like to take things slowly and liked to be surprised by a relationship forming. Doesn't mean my character won't get a big fat crush on yours when they do something cool though, you've been warned. Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): Friendship is fine if that's what this part alludes to? Enemies are cool. You don't have to pretend your character likes mine, I like a good rivalry! And I love a good begrudging friendship where they bicker a lot. As for related? Don't really think so! Can't say I need any of those additions currently. Views on lore: It's a nice guideline. Hey folks, Spaceman here. Been trying to get into the RP scene on Balmung and you folks seemed like a decent bunch so here I am, rock you like a hurricane. I'll try to keep this short, so here's all my business: MMORPG background: Yeesh. Where to begin? Probably got first hooked into MMORPGs back when WoW was still new. Was big into City of Heroes/Villains before moving over to Champions Online. Have played Guild Wars 1 and 2 (though I have much more time spent in GW2). Was a Space Wizard with a glow bat in SWToR for a while. And as you can probably guess, I've been spending my time in FF14 these days. RP experience: Fairly experienced, as I have RPed at some point in pretty much any MMO I have spent significant time in. I definitely still feel like a newb around some folks though. Character ideas/info: Still thinking things over, as my knowledge on the game's lore is kind of spotty. Might do some sort of "stranger in a strange land, but also memory loss" shtick, but we'll see if I come up with anything more interesting. I kind of like to figure out my characters as I go. How did you learn about the coalition? It was literally the first result when I googled "FF14 RP". What kind of a role-player are you aiming to be? (e.g. Light, medium, or heavy) Most likely light to medium. Some days I really want to do the RPs, some days I just want to hit things with swords/magic/whatever. Anything from real life you're comfortable with sharing? (Work, school, hobbies, etc.) I'm a wizard, Harry. Realtalk tho, I'm a 30-something y/o Army veteran now working in software development. So I'm a nerd with combat training, but according to the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy I'm mostly harmless. Anyway, looking forward to meeting you all!
