If you don't mind missing out on any bonuses you would get from specializing in one or two stats, you could do what I do-- spend your first couple levels of points evening everything out, then the rest raising everything evenly. Currently level 8 with 21 in every stat and resistance. I forget if I have 2 or 4 points unspent. Coincidentally, back in FFXI my favored race/job/sub is Hume Blue Mage/---, which has flat-even-across-the-board stats.

I'm taking FFXIV far more casually than I did - and do - FFXI. So I'm doing Guildleves to level up. That's it. Just Guildleves. No going out of my way to grind monsters, no grinding monsters unless they happen to be handy right before I start / after I finish a leve and I feel like it. Is it slower overall? Probably. Is it a very efficient use of my time? Definitely.

The clan/race stuff isn't stereotyping so much as it is generalities. Generalities that may be influenced by culture as much as ethnicity. (At least until SE says otherwise) there are legitimate reasons for the generalities made about each clan -- but just as most people don't let their race or nationality define who they are in real life, the clan your character is from probably shouldn't define your character. The important thing is this: You are an individual before you are a member of your race.

Lindblum, our unofficial 'overflow' server IIRC, is also locked for population, and appears unlikely to open back up in the immediate-to-near future. Maybe we should consider another overflow server?

Also, if there's an RPC chat and it's with Alla's IRC, why is ffochat still in the original post? It got mod edited, I don't see why it wouldn't be mod edited again with the current server/channel.... EDIT: And since I didn't respond to this earlier... I did not know that. The mods I have any interaction with (there are few) don't seem like the type who would do that, so I don't know what's up with that, it seems out of place. Anyways, thanks for letting me know.

Dude. Not cool. Read through the thread. I don't care if it's TL;DR -- Read it! No. I came to make a suggestion since it didn't appear addressed in the initial post. Also, I don't care if something is cool or not, and 'tl;dr' isn't relevant in this case. Take it or leave it, that's up to you. I'll be honest, I skipped through everything but the OP and the last couple posts. I'd recommend vanachat for IRC server, and two channels-- #rpc -- an OOC channel #rpcic -- general IC channel. Due to the nature of IRC you can make any number of temporary IRC channels for roleplaying purposes, so we don't need more than just the one that's designated. If even that.

The only issue I take with any of this is that I think the voting ought to be open for at least one full week, if not two. This gives people who may be traveling, working, or otherwise away from the internet for an extended period of time the chance to get their votes in as well.
