  1. I wish I could recall the exact text myself, but it comes down to: Syndicate Monetarists were in charge of restoring Aetherytes after the Calamity. They didn't want Vesper Bay to prosper, so they didn't give it one. And with the Scions declaring complete neutrality they were even less inclined to give Vesper Bay an Aetheryte unless the Scions gave them favors in return. Hence their move to Revenant's Toll. It's also stated by the Aetheryte guides in the opening quests that the Syndicate is why Teleport costs Gil to use: it's paying off the "loan" the cities/towns had to take out to get the Aetherytes installed. It's those two reasons combined that my characters ICly don't use teleportation too often outside of Aethernets in cities. Between personal budgeting and a distaste for the Monetarists, he's fine walking or taking a Chocobo.
  2. 1) I still recall my first RP experience in a game, and after years of Forum RP it was horribly, horribly bad. Playing City of Heroes, my character's story was (the more I think about it) a complete rip-off of Wolverine, minus the near-immortality. But that wasn't the worst of it. The worst was CoH gave players a 'Hero License' with a bio section that you could fill-out and view in-game. When the other people asked my character "what's your story?" I said, IC, "Just read my card." *facepalm* I cringe thinking back to it. 2) I'm not ashamed to admit I have participated in more *ahem* racy RP. However it is an extremely rare occurrence and only between characters established as a romantic couple, with both players and characters of legal age and consenting to the act. 3) I adore tiny characters. 9/10 times the lore and attitude for the small races are the best/closest to what I personally would love to be a part of. But I just cannot deal with the low camera angles, so I avoid playing them, so I feel like I'm missing out. 4) I'm very passive with RP until I've engaged with someone once before. In my early WoW days before I found my group there, I would sit in the RP hot spots and basically just emote various stretches/sighs to get attention. Lately it's become just standing/sitting in silence instead. Hopefully FFXIV will be a new leaf for me in this regard. 5) I will instantly full-stop all RP with you if a single "u", "r", "lol" or any other shorthand/1337 makes its way out of OOC brackets. I don't subscribe to any "/tell is OOC" philosophy. If the chat isn't global, it's IC unless I see "()" "(())" "[]" or any other indication of OOC! 6) First-Person RP is just weird to me. I'm all for immersion and putting yourself into your character, but if it's all "I" and "You" for actions, then it's gone too far.
  3. So, hello everyone. You can all call me Glacirus or Glacir, I'm a long-time Roleplayer who has been enjoying FFXIV on PS4 for the last few months. Loved every bit of the game as I played through 2.0-2.55 and started Heavensward, before leveling AST and MCH distracted me again. However, the more I played, the more I missed, for one, being able to communicate easily, and by extension participating in RP and building a story to go with my character. Which brings me to the here and now! After splurging a bit on a PC version and doing a few cursory google searches, I found my way here. Hopefully this is the start of a long, enjoyable RP experience! But before I close out this intro, here's just some info: Roleplayer for over a decade, having done text-only Forum RP for a number of years before moving on to in-game in various MMOs MMO experience include Ragnarok, City of Heroes/Villains, WoW, TERA, Arche Age, and a few more that I didn't play too long Main character is currently on Diabolos (probably gonna change that), named Glacir Clayworth. Started as an Arcanist. Focused on Scholar over Summoner. Now loving Astrologian
