  1. K'tahjha was headed across the new camp to the tent she would share with her aunt. She wanted to see the ceremony of the first hunt and was hoping K'luha could be persuaded to join her. Arriving at the front of the tent, Tahj hesitates before going in, even the young archer was aware her aunt was not recovering properly, she takes a deep breath and puts on a cheerful smile and enters the tent. "Aunt Luha?" Tahj stands, blinking till her eyes adjust to the pitch blackness in the tent, finally able to see she approaches and kneels besides K'luha to gather the thin woman in a firm hug. "They're about to start the hunt. I've never seen a ceremonial hunt before. Please come watch with me?" she asks hopefully.
  2. K'zhumi's ears flatten at K'ile's statement. It did not help her all ready cross mood that her patient seemed to feel he was well enough to take a stroll around unfamiliar grounds. She opened her mouth to tell him to sit back down and stop fidgeting like a cub. But she snapped her mouth shut with a shrug, it was no skin off her nose if the crazy tia wanted to wander off and fall asleep and never wake up. She frowns at him,"See that you stay awake." K'tahjha had finally run out of people who needed help setting up their tent and carrying bags, she lingers wistfully near the gathering huntresses to watch them prepare. With a shake of her head she sets off towards her aunt's tent, hoping to convince her to come out and take a bath with her.
  3. The distinctly grumpy healer paced about her tent, grumbling under her breath about not being able to find anything and about items being thrown willy nilly where they didn't belong. K'zhumi occasionally paused in her complaints to cast an eye at that tia to be sure he was still awake. Far be it from her to question the elders but she was not at all sure they wouldn't have been better leaving him in Drybone. She stares at him a minute more before she returns to her unpacking of her supplies. K'tahjha rolls her shoulders and winces at the pain and soreness that was setting in. Having never participated in a migration before, she had no idea how much work unpacking and setting up tents was. She stole a longing glance over at the water, then sighs, hoping there would be time for a swim later. As she moves to see who else needed help with their tent, she spots the huntresses gathering. Her ears fell, she would like to attend the hunt, but not having passed her trial she knew she would not be allowed. Her eyes fell momentarily on the tent she shared with her aunt and she chewed on her bottom lip briefly. She was worried about K'luha, she hadn't been looking well. Shaking her head briefly she gets back to work. Hopefully a meal of fresh, hot meat would perk up her aunt.
  4. K'tahjha grins as she watched the two males romping in the springs. She was briefly concerned when her father was under the water and frankly astonished and wide eyed as the got closer than most people would find comfortable. Her attention was drawn away from the play fighting males by her aunt's asking for a hug, which Tahj easily and happily obliged. Soaked to the skin but the most relaxed and happy she could remember being since she lost her mother, Tahj snuggles into K'luha's arms.
  5. K'zhumi stalks across towards the chaos, enjoying the all together too rare sounds of laughter. As she walked a mischievious thought formulated, much like when she'd tickled Tahj awake. She slips out of her cloak, bending over to fill it with water she attempts to empty the entire thing over K'luha's head. A grin spreads over her face, yes it was good to see the tribe relaxing and playing together. K'tahjha was distracted by her aunt, when her father unexpectedly barrelled into the spring, thoroughly drenching the girl. She stood dumbfounded for a brief moment before she begins giggling hysterically.
  6. K'zhumi was coming around the edge of the wagon when the ball of water hit K'yohko, as the water broke in all directions, she managed to get thoroughly soaked as well. Standing in shock for a good couple minutes, Zhumi begins to fume. Ears flat, tail swishing and sopping wet she begins to stalk towards the mischief makers. K'tahjha was hugely surprised at her aunt's playful streak, and as she watched random tribesmates get hit by the surprise attacks, Tahj doubled over in laughter. She had almost forgotten how good it felt just to laugh.
  7. K'tahjha was happy to see her aunt up and around and having a good time. Smiling happily to herself Tahj busies herself thoroughly wetting and cleansing her hair. Luha's giggling distracts her from her bath and she looks up in surprise at the two adults playing in the water like cubs. With a mischievious grin Tahj scoops up as much water as she can attempting to drench both adults.
  8. Quickly copying her aunt, K'tahjha was also down to undergarments and into the inviting water in a flash. Grinning happily Tahj scooped up hand fulls of water, in an attempt to help Luha properly wet her hair and back. She then turned her attention to her own hair which had gotten so long she kept the sides braided back to keep it out of her eyes. As she worked to get her hair out of the braid Tahj looked around. She was curious about the tribe who lived here and if any of her family were going to come join them in the bath.
  9. K'tahjha eagerly steps up and wraps an arm around K'luha's waist to support the injured hip. The constant practising with the bow and working around the camp had developed the young girl's upper body strength and she easily supported her aunt as they slowly made their way to the inviting water. Thinking ahead to their new home, Tahj looks up to Luha,"What kind of animal will I kill to take my trial now?"
  10. Raising an eyebrow at the huntress, K'zhumi reaches over and places a hand on the hip in question. Noting the state of the fracture and reinforcing the aether pin holding it in place, then she sighs. "You are not place any weight on it. You are also not to go running all over the oasis. Go to the water and sit." Shaking her head in tolerant amusement, she goes to check on the rest of her charges. Having heard the conversation, a very eager young K'tahjha was waiting impatiently at the foot of the wagon. She was happy to see her aunt up and around again. "Are we going to play in the water Aunt Luha? I've missed having a proper bath!"
  11. As K'zhumi concentrates, the arcane patterns both on the ground and painted on the nuhn's body begin to glow as she channels her aether through them. Focusing on important internal structures she works on the shoulder joint and the tendons and ligaments to restore and protect function. As she works she encounters an obstruction to the flow of aether and allows her concentration to drop with a frown. The glowing stops and the healer reaches into the wound and with some difficulty removes a small object that was embedded deep in the tissues. Letting it roll free into her palm Zhumi raises an eyebrow at it then pockets the item. She would give it to Yohko later. After a couple of bells the glow emanating from the healer's tent flickers and dies. K'zhumi is leaning heavily on K'yohko her energy all but spent. She looks well pleased with her work, all the major structures of the shoulder were intact and functional. It would require restrengthening, but the nuhn should have full use of it. Of course to the untrained eye it might still look like a bomb had gone off in the area. With the skin still torn and gaping open. She picks up a needle and thread with an exhausted sigh and begins working on stitching the patchwork of wounds back together. With tiny and precise stitches Zhumi works with the frayed and torn bits of skin until, who knows how many hundreds or thousands of stitches later, her patient was finally whole. She reaches for a tub of ointment and with hands trembling from exhaustion she begins working a thin layer of the thick salve into the wounds to prevent infection from setting in. She then bandages the shoulder, binding the arm to his body to keep the joint from moving as it healed.
  12. K'zhumi sits back with a weary sigh, the massive shoulder wounds had been thoroughly cleaned and all torn vessels had been tied off or repaired. As she takes a few moment's rest before starting the heavy task of repairing the badly damaged shoulder, her eyes fell on the youngster sleeping peacefully next to K'luha with her bare feet sticking out from under the blanket. With a rare surge of mischief Zhumi reached over and scrabbled her nails over the closest bare foot with a grin. At the wholly unexpected sensation K'tahjha woke with a squeal, eyes wide. The shaman looks amused and Tahj blushes faintly. "Go to your aunt's tent and pack both your things. We're on the move soon." Nodding, curious to know what precipitated such an unexpected move, Tahj pulls on her boots and dashes off to do as she's told. Sparing a glance at Li,"Can you begin packing the healing supplies I am not using? I will need to be able to access them as we travel. Be careful nothing spills or gets broken, please." Then she turns her attention back to K'yohko's shoulder, carefully drawing an intricate design from her grimoire around them in the sand and smaller patterns on various parts of the shoulder to help focus her aether. "Mind the lines."she says sternly then she goes into a state of deep meditation and knows only the flow of her aether and the damaged tissues.
  13. K'zhumi's eyes widened in alarm as K'yohko sagged against his daughter and she hurried to his side with her arm full of supplies. Grabbing up a vial of bright red liquid she unstoppered it and held it to his lips,"Drink this, you've lost far too much blood and this will help support your system while I work." Sparing a quick glance at the timid,pink-haired girl at his side, she flashed her a quick smile,"Good work." She went to work on the horrific shoulder wounds, able to see down to the joint in places. She searched for and tied off the torn vessels she could find while cleansing sand and grime out of the wounds.
  14. Ears flattening on her head and tail twitching in irritation, K'zhumi listens to the arguement between the males. Her eyes widening in fear as K'yohko slumped, she finally snaps,"SILENCE! This is a place of healing and rest. I will not have any more foolishness in my tent affecting my patients." she takes a deep breath and eyes K'mih,"And you! You are not scrubbing a cub's rump. If those burns get infected your father will die. So scrub! Draw blood if you must."
  15. K'zhumi wrinkles her nose and shrugs lightly,"It still gives out from underneath me occaisionally. But is mostly healed." She grabs her tome and the other items she'll need and settles down on K'yohko's right side. Hearing K'hai's question, Zhumi opens her mouth to answer, but abruptly shuts it as the nunh tells him to stay put. She instead turns her attention to cleaning the deep bites in the shoulder.
  16. K'zhumi is gathering her materials when she hears a soft voice, turning she is surprised to see K'mih. She smiles at the timid girl and nods,"Yes you may help! I need to tend to these bites and stop the bleeding." She gestures to the nunh's left arm, "You can clean and put ointment on those burns until I have a chance to tend them." she hands the girl a small bowl of precious water, a cloth and some salve. Turning again to K'yohko she places her hand upon his head like one might a cub,"It seems recklessness runs in the family." she sighs remembering her ill fated trip to gather herbs alone all too well.
  17. K'zhumi turns to answer Li as the broken form of the Nunh stumbles into the tent. Her eyes widen and she inhales sharply, her face tells the story of how exhausted she is after two large healing jobs, but she is instantly all business. "Sit" she orders, her tone allowing no disobedience. As she turns to gather the supplies she'll need off the table, her ear flicks to LI,"Do what you can with that arm, I mist needs get started with this."
  18. K'zhumi places the last stitch in one of the deeper chest wounds, standing back tiredly to examine her handiwork. The smaller wounds had been closed, but the deeper, more serious wounds, she had painstakingly stitched. Through the haze of exhaustion setting in she spotted K'tahjha, who had finally crawled under the blanket with her aunt and fallen asleep. She smiles, gently, before realizing Li had spoken to her. She turns to him, brow furrowing, and reaches for the vial. She downs it making a face and fighting the urge to spit the noxious liquid out. Frowning as she forces herself to swallow, she asks,"What do you mean? Is someone else injured?"
  19. Focusing on her work, it took a second for K'zhumi to realize the tia had spoken to her,"You will go no where. We are not finished and you have a muscle almost torn through in that arm. Li and I still need to decide how best to heal it. If it tears through, you will lose use of that arm." she gives him a glare to press home her meaning and returns to sewing. K'tahjha leaves off glaring at the tia and returns to her aunt. But her mind is spinning quickly. Were they really in danger? If the amal'jaa really were coming, she should have her bow. She decided as soon as her aunt woke next she would go out and get her more water and a bite of food and gather her bow and arrows on the way back.
  20. K'tahjha's eyes widened at K'hai,"A battledrake? I've not even seen one yet." Her eyes dropped shyly back down to her aunt under his gaze until she heard him speak again. Trials? Moving camp? She frowned at him, "I haven't passed my trials and I'm not leaving aunt K'luha." Her gaze became hard and her ears slicked back.
  21. K'tahjha looks up from tending her aunt at the sound of K'hai's voice and smiles shyly. "My name is Tahj." Peering at his wounds and wrinkling her nose,"Looks painful, what did you fight with?"
  22. K'zhumi returned K'hai's smile with a tired one of her own,"You seem to have all of what you started with, although it's not in the best condition." she nods her thanks at Li and rethreads her needle then pauses to look up at K'hai,"Do you need painkiller for this? Or can you handle a small needle?"
  23. K'zhumi sits back to study her work , circles under her eyes and looking slightly haggard. All of the wounds were clean and the deeper wounds were stitched. "Can you hand me some more thread and that jar of yellow ointment please, Li?"
  24. K'zhumi sighs, ears flattening slightly,"I'm all ready maintaining the bone in K'luha's hip, but I can possibly keep up the muscle in his arm as well. Hopefully no more injuries will come in." She returns her focus to the many wounds left on K'hai's chest, each rune glowing in turn as she focuses on the wound it surrounds.
  25. As she channeled aether to each wound, Zhumi pondered the torn muscle. "Perhaps a patch can be constructed of aether, but the arm will have to be completely immobilized for it to heal." Glancing toward the tent flap, Zhumi spared a thought for K'yohko, surely someone would have brought him to her if his wounds were very serious.
