  1. I am a new player and new to Final Fantasy in general. I have had a bit of a hard time feeling like I belong in this group. The way I RP seems to be different from most people here and some of made me feel like the way I do it is wrong, my artwork wasn't well received, and often I am afraid my opinion will be ridiculed because I see others that are. There also seemed to be a lot of pointless bickering and arguing. Not sure if anyone noticed but I haven't really contributed much lately, however I did when I first joined. However, I have also made some friends. So I decided to get over my fear and post my concerns so that hopefully this can be remedied. Overall people are friendly and probably didn't even realize that they can seem condescending to someone new and sensitive.
  2. Lucky dog... I was really hoping to get into that test.
  3. I think this flower fits my character. Bright, Cheerful, fun, and a bit strange. The flower is named Bird of Paradise.
  4. Well that is one good thing about being a new player. I don't have to worry about any of that . 8-)
  5. Well even though this question seemed to be targeted for the people who played previously. I am most excited to learn the roles and abilities of the classes, interact with the community, and finding an awesome raid group and getting into some raids.
  6. Fuck it, you too. We are gonna get your everything hammered right out, come hell, high water, or crazy mouth tornado from the stars. (That's an Azathoth joke.) Perfect! Thank you!
  7. Welcome! I miss my LARP days. And yeah it was the crazy combat one, but the friendships I made were some of the best.
  8. Thanks! I posted two though and I still don't see the first one.
  9. I always love this kind of guild concept. To me a guild shouldn't just be a tag but you should actually do stuff together. Doing things together in a slower paced IC way allows character development and IC friendships to develop. i am in NO WAY a leader but I think it is a good idea.
  10. I would love to have a mentor. i am a total final fantasy newb. Gerik- You are amazing, great idea!
  11. Nel- Throwing the IC in there got my attention, Pick me! Gerik- You are amazing, awesome idea.
  12. Gerik. You are amazing. What an awesome idea. I would love to have a mentor.
  13. Glad to hear you are feeling better. Nice work also
  14. Nice to see someone display a new style. I love them. I am completely ignorant on this style so I figured I would ask, Is the black and "white" typical of this style or do you incorporate color in some as well?
  15. Very interesting piece. I think seeing them both adds something.
  16. Seeing that I usually play a healer type character, I am a little biased. But because I play a healer then I usually am not as good in combat (RP included) so I still want to be useful. I think that healers should be utilized in RP combat but also that there should be a way to keep things going if one isn't available. For instance bandages and medicine can help but a healer can speed up the process. As for the individual spells I don't know them to be able to decide. But I would hate to see a "rule" with in the community of how it works. This should be decided by the RPers involved and be flexible with each situation.
  17. Oh I did this awhile back... let me find mine... my ideal pony. I love Zebras. Purple and yellow are my fav colors. The horns symbolize Aries. Wings are for the Fae loving side of me. (For some reason I can't get images to load on this site. WIP. PM me with advice plz.) http://www.enjin.com/profile/425213/pics/detail/album_id/42731 I was really into the movie "Tangled" at the time so I made a Rapunzel pony too. http://www.enjin.com/profile/425213/pics/detail/album_id/4273

  19. As a new player I have many of the same concerns that have been voiced. I have also experienced some of the same feelings that some other new players have addressed. For example in the art area (happens in other sections too.) you tend to notice cliques, not of artists but of people that have been interacting on the forums for a while together. This is kinda normal but slightly intimidating for new members. I don't think it is intentional just a product of knowing each other longer. I disagree that we are ignored entirely or not listened to though. I am normally a slow leveler and have always pre-ordered games and gotten an early start to counteract my slow leveling. I am also interested in end game and fear that by the time that I am ready to do raids that the majority of players will not want to do them any more. I have never stayed with an MMO that I happened upon after later because I have either felt out of place or no one was completing the content that I was late for. But... I have decided to start with the RP community. I know that I am at a disadvantage so I am starting on the forums early, looking for a guild that will help me catch up and raid with me, and learning all that I can. The way I see it you can choose to fight to catch up/nudge your way in or fight to find a community. There are no right or wrong answers so stop pretending that there are. It is really the comfort levels of the individual. I don't see the problem with the community having two supported servers and stating which "new" server will be the unofficial RP server. I have seen it in a bunch of different RP communities. All it really takes is a little forum organization, putting server tags on posts that involve a certain server, and announcing it. Pros of having a "back up" unofficial RP server. -stay in contact with both new and legacy servers and get opinions and ideas from both sides. - If one server is down you have a back up (depending on how maintenance works) -If the first server is full you have a second option. (Not sure if that plays a role in FFXIV or not but it has in past games) -New players aren't forced to choose between leaving the RPC and playing in a way that they are comfortable with. Legacy players don't loose all their hard work by having to move but still get to interact and mingle with the new players. Cons: - some confusion as to which server events are on and guild etc. Easily solved adding a tag to the post [balmung]. I disagree that two servers cause more separation. Especially in a game where you can play on multiple servers.
  20. Very nice work. I agree with Alothia, the expressions are awesome.
  21. To update on the Rift RP community. From what I have seen on Faeblight, some random RP happens sparingly in the major cities but the population in general seems lacking. Many people have made public RP dimensions (in essence their own tavern that they really own.) though and seem to be pretty popular if you are into that kind of RP. Everyone seems to be RP friendly to me when I am out in the world RPing. However, most seem to rely on someone else starting it up. To be fair I haven't really looked for an RP guild since I am leaving to play ARR but there are a lot of them so maybe the RP happens with in a guild.
  22. I tried starting several MMOs that I hadn't played before but it was hard to want to put time into leveling when I know I am going to be leaving in August (maybe sooner if I get into beta.) I joined up with some friends of mine to play Rift again. Hoping to get from 50-60 and see the new content. The new dimensions (housing) is pretty fun and it only costs in game money. Very interested in TESO and Wildstar too.
