This does sound interesting. Is there somewhere I could learn more about the history?

*Nods* That makes sense. And it might put people more at ease. I've never used skype but I'm willing to give it a try. Still not sure what or how I would do it though. I've never done anything like this. Any suggestions? Well if we RP over Skype, it would be much like an IM to IM kinda thing. Where someone posts something, then other people post reactions. Unlike forum RP (another type of Play by Post or PbP), IM RPs are faster, less detailed, and focus more on dialogue and character interaction than describing settings and emotions. Thus, replies tend to be shorter, instead of the paragraph posts you might see in a forum RP. A good way to start would be to come up with a general setting first, and let your characters fit into the setting. If you want, I can help set up the group. Xenedra also has experience in this, so you can ask her for advice as well. I do want! But I'll have to contact you tomorrow. Too tired right now. Going to bed. Night all!

*Forcefully pulls Nova out of the corner.* Don't hide in corners...there are cobwebs in there. And don't be afraid to look me up when the game comes out! Or we could rp now. Or I could just babble on about lore for hours and hours leaving you to wonder just when and how I lost my social life. It's up to you! Nooo! my corner! Alright but just to warn you ... http://weknowmemes.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/im-shy-at-first.jpg[/img] I would love to babble lore with you! I have sold my social life to pay for a new graphics card I regret nothing. I think a get together for some open RP would be a lot of fun ... though I have nothing (including a name) created for my poor Miqo'te. I have both Skype (sapphire584) and gchat () feel free to poke me You think you do random shit? The bumper sticker of most of my sentences. And yes! We will defiantly have to rp! But be warned. Without spell check my rp can be...lacking.

First of all, thank you! Secondly, yeah.. that's pretty much a prime example of what one of Ryanti's pet peeves are. I would take your character first seeing the city as a prime example of what he detests about Miqo'tes. He would think "You don't get it, your brain is incompetent of thinking beyond feeding and pissing and I can't stand having half the blood of them in me!" However, if he met a more... civil Miqo'te, or an intellectual Miqo'te with tribal beliefs that was yet, in his eyes, fully educated (for example: Manari Onai) he's a lot more ...curious. And more of a pleasant person. You could say he is a scientifically and emotionally curious individual. He has a fascination for the unknown. Oh god we have got to roleplay together. You're character is everything K'haz is afraid of becoming.
-
This is beautiful. Truly an interesting character. K'haz grew up among his tribesmen but has been living in civilization for about...ten years I think? At first he thought it was ridiculous (like fountains. Do you know how much water that wastes!? And what is gold really? It's shiny yes, but you can't eat it. And what the hell is with this government? Someone just strand these idiots in the desert already!) But then he saw the tech, the advancement in medicine (he's a healer so that's a big thing for him), and other comforts (The twelve bless whoever invented chocolate.) In short, he's become tamed. And he's not sure whether or not he hates himself for it.

Man that kid is going to have one messed up family tree. Though you are right about the melting pot thing which actually makes me wonder what is Garleans view on other races? Do they have them? Because so far they all look Hyur to me. You have no idea. Great fan fiction story in the works. But I don't mean to get the thread off topic. Back to what you were saying... Actually something just occurred to me. Is Eorzea a perfectly melted stew or are their a few chunky bits in that pot? You actually see some of it in the City States. In Uld'ah all the 'dancers' were mostly female Miqo'te which I bet are as sought after as Asari in Mass Effect. Also Lalafells seemed to hold higher positions in Ul'dah while the Elezen seemed more prominent in Gridania (haven't been to the other one yet.) And what about stereotypes? Like say Miqo'te are believed to be better suited for whore houses because of their appearance and promiscuous culture. Lalafell might be viewed as cheapskates and swindlers. Elezen are a bunch of uppity tree huggers. The Hyur think they rule the world just because they breed like rats, while the...crap forgot the name (Sea wolves and Hellsguard) are nothing but a bunch of giant dumb brutes. Heh, stereotyping is fun.

Speaking of which was this guild made before or after 'The battle of such epicness we all just kind of forgot'?

Well since everyone seems to be responding to this so well why don't we set something up? Maybe have a meet and greet in the beta or on skype for those not in the beta. We could set something up for our characters: give them all a reason to be there or something. Then we roleplay, get to know each other and maybe make groups for when the game opens. Not a guild, just open rp. Though it would also be a chance for recruiters of guilds to poke there noses in and offer invitations. Anyway it's up to you guys. If you think it's a good idea then we'll select a server and a place. If some people have to change servers then it won't be a big deal to remake your character because we'll just be rping - no quests or anything. Classes will change but we'll just ignore that. If you say your a gladiator than your a gladiator, even though you had to make a lancer so you could be in Gridania. Or whatever. So what do you think? *Forcefully pulls Nova out of the corner.* Don't hide in corners...there are cobwebs in there. And don't be afraid to look me up when the game comes out! Or we could rp now. Or I could just babble on about lore for hours and hours leaving you to wonder just when and how I lost my social life. It's up to you! high fives Don't worry man, I'm the same way. Especially with Eva - that girl is scary. I mean have you read her stuff? Holy crap. Stop intimating me with your awesomeness, damn it! And that goes for the rest of you too! *glares* But no worries! I've read your posts and I'm sure you'll be great to rp with! Don't be afraid to look me up! Or just message and we can do something on Skype...though I'm still trying to figure that out. I'm pretty incompetent with a computer when it involves anything beyond video games. Steam? No problem. Facebook? God help us all. Ooh just read your wiki page. I really like it. Your character is interesting! He reminds me of a bunny

Yeah...still waiting to be avenged over here. Sorry, a band of feral cats came and lapped up your pasta-sauce message, and i've been struggling to put together the clues ever since >_> What clues?! You said for urself that aldeus killed me!

It's actually not that different. I mean, when I rp'd in swtor you still described what you were doing but you had to keep it short and fast - can't let the conversation move on before you throw in your two cents, right? Here's and example of how I rp'd in swtor ( as limited as that time was.) K'hazs ears twitched as the flock of baby yellow birds continued to nip at his tail. "Chocobo's. Why is it always chocobos?" I wouldn't do anything in game wise...except maybe stand next to a chocobo. But that's just me. More experienced rp'ers might have better adivce.

Ul'dah is a piss-hole where people get mugged, harassed, and possibly even raped in broad daylight in front of and inside the Adventurer's Guild. Also, no one but our characters cares, apparently. The Brass Blades are glorified thugs who sell their swords to the highest bidder and the Sultansworn, the only fighting force aside from the Immortal Flames who still protects and enforces the law in Ul'dah, are only seen guarding and patrolling the Husting Strip (second floor of Ul'dah). I am not saying law doesn't exist in Ul'dah. I'm saying that no one cares about it. Hah, true. Or more like, the laws don't apply to the wealthy. I imagine a small time thief getting caught pick pocketing from a nobleman would get in some serious trouble. However if that nobleman decided to knock some beggars around for dirtying his boots? The guards would probably look the other way. Ah Social Classes gotta love it.

Yeah...still waiting to be avenged over here.

Write enough big words and even I sound intelligent.

Laws would be tricky. I think the the Eorzea's main cities (Ul'da, Gridania, etc) would behave not be unlike ancient Greek's city states. Yes they were all Greeks (Eorzeans) but they were also athenians, spartans, and so on. Each City and the territory surrounding it had it's own laws to adhear to. Which tended to cause problems as what's legal in sparta wasn't exactly legal in Athens. This led to a lot of in state fighting and backstabbing which only went away *at least somewhat* when Rome had a collective enemy, which in Eorzea's case would be the Garleans and Beastmen. But now we are getting off topic. Laws would depend on what city you were in or close to (as towns tended to adopt the laws of the nearby cities to a point). In Gridania I imagine there would be a lot of laws involving the conservation of nature. You probably couldn't just go chopping down trees and clearning forests for your new buisness without the approval of the Seedlyns (or whoever is in charge). After all, if one idiot ticks off the elementals then it means trouble for everyone. Ul'dah would probably be more concerned with the buisness side of law and would focus on rules that would help keep the economy sable. They also have a sultan and nobles which usually means that different laws apply to those with power and wealth. For example, nobility might be the only ones who have a right to vote on what laws should be passed and which shouldn't. Basically I imagine Ul'dah would be the kind of place that tried to keep the rich, rich and the poor, poor. Theivery would probably have a high punishment. Limsa Lominsa seems to be under military law if I'm reading my lore right. That's somewhat simple. In short? The military is right and your wrong. I could imagine curfews except for those who have a pass. And officers would likely scrutinize every shipment to make sure nothing is being smugled in (if they arn't paid off that is) . That kind of rule usually has a resistance somewhere as well as a seedy underground. Anti-government propaganda would probably be a big no, no. But I might be wrong abot Limsa Lominsa. I haven't read a whole lot of lore on it. The tricky thing would be the cultural laws of races. Clan buisness might go against laws of the city states though in my oppinion that would normally be ignored. Clan buisness is clan buisness as the saying goes. You don't get involved unless you absolutly have to. This is just guesswork though. I'm certianlly no expert and am only going by what I know of history.

Omg I hear the voices of the dead! Don't worry ghost- cat, I shall not rest until ur killer is found and forced to watch every single cat video on the internet (including the 10 hour version of Nyan cat) *writes 'get Aldeus' in tomato paste on the walls*

Thank you *snif* it's nice to know people care.

*Somewhere miles away, in a room crowded with white coats and blinking tech.* "Shit he's on to us! Code red! Code red! Someone hit Ctrl-alt-delete damn it! No not backspace - that doesn't do anything! No stop! Error -error - error..." Congratulations. You just killed the internet.

I know what you mean. A good group of friends can mean the difference between playing a game five years and five months. With Game of Thrones over all of this enthusiasm behind the concept, I'll be working harder than a cat trying to burry a turd on a marble floor to get this thing going! Love the imagery and yet it makes me want to join this guild even more. Also game of Thrones will never be over! Enough with your lies! I feel your pain Guru. I will be stalking this thread. Hehe get it? Stalking...cause my screen name, god I'm funny.

Look me up then! I rp as a healer so it's nice to get into groups (helps me kill things faster) Though I'm in the states so the timing might be a little difficult. Also..Yay! SWTOR! I played with Death's Regiment (rp guild) for a little bit but couldn't stay due to issues. My char was an imperial healer op. You? *crosses fingers* don't say jedi, don't say jedi, don't say jedi...

Hey guys! This is SG and I couldn't help but notice something. Some of the work here is really really intimidating. Lol. I mean seriously the art, the stories, the general personality - its all just amazing and maybe even a little daunting. For me personally, it took a long time to work up the courage to join Hydaelyn Roleplayers because of how much better everyone else seemed to be. I mean I was just a noob, not a very good artist, and with little to no mmorp experience - how could I possibly contribute? Looking back on that I can't help but think that maybe there are other people who feel the same. So I thought I'd make this thread for the noobs - those with less to no role play experience; who don't already have friends in the community and just want to get their foot in the door. Of course I'm not saying the more experienced role players can't join in. Interacting with you is how we learn! But I just thought I'd create a kind of safe zone. One where it doesn't matter how noobish (noob-y?) you are as long as you just try. If anyone wants to role play but doesn't no how to start then contact me and we'll do something. Believe me, I'm just as nervous as everybody else. In fact right now I'm getting all twitchy just for putting up this post! So say hi, meet and greet, and start role playing!

New pic. Hope it's okay. It's a lot neater because I finally got into the beta! Seeing my character in in game really helps

Must...reply...to...thread I'm sorry, I know this thread has probably been beaten like a dead horse but I can't help it, I have to throw out my own ideas. It'll be long, it'll be nerdy, and it might even be a complete waste of time but that's never stopped me before so here we go. Ahem. Lets look at this logically. The makers of the Realm Reborn are not pulling this Lore out of their asses. Most of our questions could probably be answered by looking at tribes in the real world. From what I can tell Seeker culture is a mix of bushmen tribes and a lion pride while Keeper is more jungle tribes and a parade of elephants. Questions Posed: How do Seekers, and Keepers for that matter, keep their gene pools diverse with such a small amount of breeding males? This seems... problematic from a genetic and longevity standpoint. (Not to mention we're probably going to have a few Seekers bragging about their 50 women harems and beating their chests about it... ._.) I have two theories. One: Like in a pride of lions, when a young male reaches a certain age he is driven out of the pride. As for the female offspring, by the time they're ready to mate the alpha male has usually been replaced by a stronger, younger contender. This still doesn't mean interbreeding doesn't happen, but it's rare. And hopefully the Seekers are intelligent enough to avoid it. Two: From what little I know of tribal culture (I'm certainly no expert) who your parents were is very important. It's almost like a cast system for societal expectations. If you're father was a good hunter - you were going to be a good hunter. If someone was a bad person, then the tribe would know to look out for their children because they would probably be bad too (which worked in a way if the dad was 'bad' because of a hereditary mental illness.) But anyway, my point is, because of this your lineage is very important. In other words you would know who was related to you and who wasn't. Incest could be that hard to avoid. Personally I think it would be a mix of the two. Males are described as being more territorial so it's no surprise that many would leave the tribe. And because the position of Nuhn is decided by strength, the Nuhn's would probably be replaced often enough to provide a sizable gene pool. How much freedom do nuhn have, anyway? What about nuhn of the Keepers? ARE there nuhn within the Keepers, or is there a more '"nuclear family" situation? I think this goes back to the whole lions and tiger thing. Though, Honestly I think Keeper culture would be closer to elephants. Females would live in groups; taking care of the young, while the males would pop up every now and again to do the dirty deed. Seekers would probably have as much responsibility as the male lion. He doesn't have to hunt but it's his responsibility to patrol a tribes territory and protect them from any threats. I find it interesting that nuhn are rarely in leadership roles, and I wonder what that means. Are men rarely considered for leadership altogether, or are the nuhns' duties considered to be too much with the added responsibility of leadership (*gigglesnort*)? Again, this goes back to tribal culture. Above all hunters are usually paramount - they are what keeps the tribe going. In lion prides females are the ones that hunt while a male's job is to protect the pride from any threats and patrol territory. Is there tension or animosity between the Seekers and Keepers? How did their schism arise? I don't think so simply because they don't live near each other. They don't have to fight for resources or territory so why fight at all? Though I'm sure they think the other is 'weird' I doubt they have any real animosity for each other. From how nuhn gain their status through battle, we can assume that physical strength and skill is valued among Miqo'te. Does this permeate other facets of their cultures? I can almost imagine they might have holidays with events like the Highland games! That I would love to see. I could imagine hunting something dangerous would be a tradition for both clans. Like maybe to reach adulthood you have to successfully hunt something on your own. What does Miqo'te art look like? I would be so ecstatic to know! The only thing I can glean from the lore they gave us, is that it would probably include their totems as well as their gods and the sun/moon. I like Cassandra's idea - though it seems more appropriate for Keepers then Seekers. Seeker art would probably be more simplified, I think. Whew, alright, I'm done. I could say a whole lot more but I'm sure people are getting tired of the massive wall of text. lol. Anyway, this is all just speculation. When it comes down to it I think The Seeker tribe would be a lot like a lion pride and the bushmen of southern Africa. Keepers would be more like an elephant parade and a jungle tribe... Hope I didn't bore you guys too much!
