Hyltwakka is sitting down at the dock in Greatloam Growery right now, really liking this area for some RP, and I think I'd be up for the kind of stuff you mentioned. He could help with getting herbs, or even doing some minor conjurer-type-things. I've been thinking for a while now that we should just get a Gridania RP Linkshell together, make sure that people who want to RP in / around here know each other and can contact each other easily.

I'm RPing Hyltwakka as a Conjurer/Pugilist/Botanist, and that's more or less extending into their respective Jobs (White Mage and Monk) for a sort of White Monk like in FFTA/A2. I fully expect a great number of people to be RPing more than one class/job, because it opens up even more possibilities like this.

This sounds like a lot of fun, I'd love to bring Hyltwakka. :]

I'm really disappointed that I can't get into Balmung, I actually thought that since I had a character created here from the last beta weekend I'd be allowed in, but I guess that's not how it works... Still, my need to be on Balmung outweighs my need to be playing, right now-... I have so many plans for Hyltwakka that I can't really bring myself to get started on anything else, especially on a different server. :\

How long should I expect to wait to get into Balmung? I don't wanna go anywhere else, even for an alt. Why aren't there queues? Why do they expect that we'll KNOW when a spot for us frees up? x-x

I hadn't heard about this echo stuff before. It sort of reminds me of the Ascended bit in Rift. Personally I didn't want to RP an ascended character (people who had died and been resurrected with additional souls by either the gods or technology). The echo is less god-modey to me, and if it's the only way I can fight primals I'll probably accept it into my RP in small amounts.

[align=center][/align] So my character is, among other things, a conjurer/botanist type with an interest in seedkin. I know there aren't any mandragora minions in the game (right now... *crosses fingers*) but I was wondering if it would be possible for him to have one ICly as a pet/companion/research subject. This is all I've found about them in FFXIV:ARR, but if you've discovered anything from quest lines I'd love to hear it. (May need to put in spoiler tag.) "The enigmatic mandragora were first observed in the aftermath of the Seventh Umbral Era. It is not known whence they came, or if they even existed prior to the Calamity. There are those who insist that the diminutive seedkin are sentient, but further research is required to confirm such speculation." Also in some of the games they've been in, Mandragoras have been docile until attacked, so it stands to reason that some might be open to interacting with some of the more gentle / trustworthy humanoids they encounter-... Right? While he'll be going Conjurer/Pugilist for the most part, I intend to RP Hyltwakka as a botanist too, possibly studying mandragoras and other seedkin. I'm wondering if maybe we should have a Linkshell for finding Gridania-based RP? Or maybe there's something like that already, I don't know.

I was told that it wouldn't exist, so I've been managing my expectations a bit. I figure it's time to actually ASK... How interested are people in RPing in/around Gridania? Hyltwakka's concept is kind of revolving around the forest city, and I was hoping to have some RP that would involve the forest's elementals, the sylphs, etc. Even some more simple RP like fishing, maybe, or hunting things like efts, foraging for rare herbs. It would be even better if I could find a free company that's interested in getting a house there together. (I'll be on Balmung.) Are there any free companies with Gridania-based themes? I do have my Sunseeker alt for a back up plan, and I figure I can stick him into Limsa or Ul'dah, but a character like Hyltwakka has deeper roots, stronger loyalties and narrower interests.
