Hello everyone! New player to FFXIV, just started about two weeks ago. Been playing MMOs for about a decade, been RPing in them for about four years, in WoW, GW2, and TSW. I am currently looking for new friends and contacts within this game! Here is a link to my current character workshop page, which contains a pretty much up to date character profile for Cadros: http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/showthread.php?tid=14807 Information about Cad that isn't in there: He has been a part of the Adventurer's Guild for a few months now, long enough that he has moved beyond the 'kill ladybugs and deliver this box 3 doors down' stage of assignments, but not long enough that he isn't still considered a newbie. He is currently under the tutelage of an Elezen named Tellah Fortemps who is training him in how to be a true hero. What I am not looking for: An FC as I am currently in one (Red Wings), and am not seeking to really jump around at the moment. A mentor or teacher of any kind, as Cad already has a mentor in the arts of hero-ing. What I am looking for: Literally anything and everything else. Childhood friends. Relatives (both known and long-lost). Acquaintances from the Adventurer's Guild and from the cities he has spent time in (Gridania and Ul'dah). Enemies he might have made in his thus far brief adventuring career. And yes, even romance RP (though I am more picky about this. Since romance RP means a long term dedicated RP partnership, I like to make sure that anything of this nature goes through a trial period just to make sure we as players get along, our RP styles match up, or schedules work together, etc.). Basically I am looking for more friends and contacts within this game. Hey everyone! Wanted to get some C&C on my current idea for my RP character in FFXIV. Basically the idea is to play the young, kinda idealistic, man who sets off on his path to try and be a hero from the beginning of his adventure and see where it takes him and how he changes as a result. This is of course a rough first draft, so any ideas/additions are more than welcome! [align=justify]Name: Cadros Malone[/align] Race:Midlander Hyur Age:Early 20s [align=justify]Gender: Male[/align] Occupation: Adventurer (Lancer) [align=justify]Physical Appearance: Stands at about 5’9”-5’10”. Fairly well-muscled, not the form of someone who works for appearance orpure strength, more of someone who is familiar with labor and prefers function over form in terms of physicality. Lightbrown hair, a little long but well maintained, blue eyes. Skin is a fair tone and pretty muchunblemished, no visible scars or anything to speak of. Overall a clean appearance, clothes are niceenough but clearly not expensive.[/align] [align=justify]Backstory: Born in the small village of Riverbough in thesouth-east of the Black Shroud, Cadros is the first-born child to a fisherman and his wife, Edric and Agatha. Likeevery kid does at one point or another, Cadros dreamed of being a hero. He and his friends would run around in theirfree time with wooden swords, pretending they were a band of adventurers, defeating imaginary monsters and saving the day. As they grew older, his friends stoppedplaying pretend, beginning apprenticeships and helping provide for their families. Cadros, however, did not. While he helped his father as a fisherman, hespent much of his free time training and generally messing around with his wooden sword. Of course, he soon reachedthe age where he was considered too old to play with such toys, so to avoid the jeering of his friends and confusion/scorn of adults, he switched from a wooden sword to one of his father’s harpoons. With that, he could at least say he was working if he were evercaught. So it went on for a coupleyears. Then the Calamity came.[/align] [align=justify] While his hometown was spared the worst of thedestruction, the effects of the Calamity were still felt by the village. Everyone set about trying to rebuild theirlives. Everyone but Cadros. The Calamity had only reinforced his desireto be an adventurer. To be a hero. He spent the next three years redoubling hisefforts in training, going as far as to pay some of the town guards to spar with him while off duty. On the night ofhis 18th birthday, he told his parents of his plan; he was going toleave and become an adventurer. Hismother of course refused to entertain such ideas, but his father, after hearing Cadros out on his reasoning, produced a gift for him. A plaining looking, but well-craftedspear. ‘An adventurer should have aproper weapon, not a make-shift fishing harpoon.’ His father, and after a long debate, hismother both gave him their blessing. Taking a couple weeks to familiarize himself with his new weapon, and tosay goodbye to his friends, Cadros gathered his things and set out for Gridania to register with the Adventurer’s Guild there, and make his mark on the world as a hero.[/align]

Thanks for the welcome everyone! Officially transferred over to Balmung today, and have started working on my character for RP. Just had one question with regards to that. I figured out that the Character Workshop forum is the place to post stuff to be critiqued, but I was curious as to whether or not a wiki profile was preferred over there. Obviously no one is going to force me to make one, but I was wondering if that was the preferred way of introducing your character over there, or if I can just do a write up and post it. Also is there any kind of character template or anything like that this site uses for new characters? The site is a bit confusing for a newcomer trying to find all the things at once.

As the thread title says, hello everyone! Finally taking the dive into FFXIV and thought I would try and join this awesome community. Long time MMO player, with my experience including WoW from the tail-end of BC up to a few months into WoD, GW2 from launch to the release of HoT, and about a year or so in TSW. Been RPing for about 4 or 5 years now, and since I love RPing so much, and more importantly love the community found on RP servers, I figured I might as well get back into it in my new MMO! I have been out of the RPing game for awhile, due to real life and all that, but am looking forward to getting back into it. Plan on transferring my character over to Balmung just as soon as I hit the 3 day mark either tomorrow or the day after. Not exactly what you'd call an expert on FFXIV lore and whatnot, but I do plan on learning as much as I can, hopefully with the help of people here. In any case, I look forward to meeting you guys, and finding my place in this community! Cheers!
