  1. My concern at this point is that the fix tomorrow will be a batch of new worlds to play on and not the unlocking of the already full worlds, this does not effect me directly I count myself lucky I already have a character on Balmung but I feel for all of those who want to join Gilgamesh or Balmung and cannot. Here is hoping everything gets fixed but honestly I would settle for a halfway decent fix that lets everyone play.
  2. I am also playing on GMT started out as a Marauder aiming to play a tank type for the first time normally I am a caster/healer type so if your willing to put up with me as I learn tanking in this game I will be willing to join up for dungeons too. Oh I should warn you in advance my sense of direction is a little "fuzzy" as I can get lost in a wardrobe if left to my own devices! You have been warned! My character is Xaria Xin thought I had best add that too heh!
  3. I am in exactly the same position as you Asyria and I was interested in the answer too, I assumed we would get the CE bits from 2.0 if not I would like to know how we can get them!
  4. I agree with what Alothia because I have participated in more MMO launches than I care to admit to and since the genre has gone mainstream the early weeks of release are always the same of a new highly anticipated release. There is at first a huge surge in numbers everyone wants to be online 24/7 levelling experiencing the new game and not wanting to miss a thing, this causes server problems in various forms from log in queue's to server crashes and everything in between. However in a very short period of time this huge demand quiet's down the server load return to an expected level and everything works out. Now of course its highly frustrating to not be able to be playing on server X, Y or Z and we as consumers should want better than face these problems but fracturing and dispersing our role player's further will only give us a very small minority on that server that never really works out for rping in the longer term. Players will then move their characters as soon as they are able to the more established RP realms where the "grass is greener" and the small RP community shrinks until its no longer viable. Now assuming that to be the case here as well (server transfers rumoured to be coming in a few weeks) I can understand why the RPC is not willing to support another RP server choice at this time, it sucks for those not able to play on Balmung or Gilgamesh right at this moment and I can understand your frustration but I feel those stuck in that position need to consider the RPC's position in the matter and they are doing what they feel is right for the RP community as a whole. On a side note I am not trying to play during the early access period so I am kind of neutral right now and staying positive that SE will resolve these problems quickly so its not an ongoing thorn in our sides.
  5. Isilme that was just beautiful and it brought a smile to my face, even though I am waiting on general release and not struggling with the current problems its great to know not everyone is letting it get them down!.
  6. Managed to resolve it myself sorry for all the bother.
  7. So finally managed to get a little time today to log in and take a look at beta phase 4 and I have all kinds of errors with the UI and graphics (see screenshots below) I did not have any problems with beta phase 3, my drivers are upto date and so on. if anyone has any idea what might be causing this I would really appreciate some insights and advice on how to fix it. Screenie 2 I have tried running the game in max setting and default ones in windowed mode or full screen the same problem persists, if anyone has any idea what might be causing this I would really appreciate some insights and advice on how to fix it. Sorry if I have posted this in the wrong place though I was not sure about that.
  8. I thought that the video was very well presented considering the contentious issue at hand, it was clear that you all wanted it to be as neutral as possible and it was well thought out, I think you covered pretty much all the questions players might have regarding their choice of server. Well done, not only because of the quality of the presentation but your still here trying to keep us (the RP community) informed and not giving into the frustration this topic has stirred up, I admire that I really do.
  9. Nel I for one enjoyed your video's and appreciate the effort put in creating them, just thought I would say that. I have posted previously on this thread and I will say it again, we as RP'ers are going to be in a minority in whatever game or server we play on we need to unite and be welcoming to one another, this whole pissing contest about server choice is just getting people frustrated and bitter before the game is even released. Now I do not know about all of you but I have been frequenting these forums less because of all the acidic rhetoric and that is a shame because I believe this site is a great resource. I hold no ill will to any player here I know noone and have no axe to grind but this pecking at one another is doing damage that will take months to fix if it can be fixed at all. This bickering is a terrible distraction which should be a great time for us as the ARR draws closer, we should be sharing in each others excitement not tearing strips from those around us. Now my post is rather negative and that is not my way, I believe once the game is released this "issue" will fade away as we all play the game and immerse our characters into every facet of Eorzea but the damage that is being done will still be there in the shadows. Please just let this topic go still, let it fall from the top of the page and let us all pull together as a community and see what the future hold's.....together!
  10. I wonder how many more of these threads we will see before release...? Personally I think we are just damaging ourselves as a community as we peck at one another's choices we should just make it a non-topic and try to refrain from posting opinions but band together as ARR RP'ers. We are already a minority compared to the overall population and can ill afford to bicker amongst ourselves. This division and constant new topics about it serves none of us well, I have said it before and I will say it again your choice of server is nothing to do with the kind of rp'er or player you are its merely about legacy vs non legacy and in six months that will be irrelevant to either choice since the server economies and character levels will be approximately the same on both. Lets just stop the talk about primary or better server for RP and call them both good alternatives to each other.
  11. Yep I would definately be interested in this!
  12. Oh actually this topic is one I have a question about, for IC reasons I will be calling my character in RP something different from his true name when I create him should I use the name he will call himself "Amyr Mythweaver" or his actual name "Amyra'a Tsio"?
  13. I have a question about the CE version too, I bought the 1.0 CE will I get the mount, helm and so on with ARR at release?
  14. I was not going to post on this thread being new here but the last post irritated me a little so I changed my mind. I think those who are going to choose Gilgamesh as their new home are being overly sensitive I do not really see anyone trying to disparage Gilgamesh but its easy to understand why its being seen as the "second" or "smaller" RP server. Perhaps just taking a step back for a moment and realising that this is not a new game but a rerelease and because of that things are different to a normal new MMO release. The choice of which server we play on is not a choice of Balmung vs Gilgamesh but legacy vs non legacy each of us will decide where we want to play based on what we feel is the best place for us as individuals. For many here that means a return to RPing with the community that existed in 1.0 of course they do not want to lose the investment of time in their characters, nor of friendships forged, or the RP experiences especially since as far as I can tell the RP community thrived. Obviously their enthusiasm and excitement is high wanting the best for both themselves and the server they call home, part of that is of course wanting lots of new RP'ers to RP with. So of course they will want to talk up Balmung its human nature, it is easy to understand that they see players opting for Gilgamesh as a lost opportunity for them and wished for all of us as RP'ers to be together (the more the merrier I always say!). Of course those players choosing Gilgamesh are no less enthusiastic or excited they are looking forward to the slate wiped clean and a complete fresh start with everyone on a level playing field in a brand new game. In the end none of us know which server might end up being the dominant one with regards to RP the future is a tricky thing to predict, luckily for us all the option to transfer servers will most likely be availiable after some time so we are not truly stuck with our server destination as a final stop. With that said I view every single RP'er as a potential friend yet to be found, to me this site is not about which server you choose or play on but about RPing in FFXIV ARR it is a great site with lots of information, guides and reference material, it has a welcoming atmosphere and I for one do not feel we should let such a small detail as a server choice distract us from the excitement and fun we all shall have once the game goes live. Long live Balmung and Gilgamesh!
  15. Averis do not worry I can save you from the "honour" of being the oldest in the thread I am 43 and been Rping since I was a teenager in pen and paper games ( AD&D, Rolemaster, Call of Cthulu mostly) and RPing in MMO's since '99. I have not attended any creative writing classes but often wish I had my grammar is not the best especially when RPing and feeling the need to reply in a timely fashion, beyond that the years have not eroded my enjoyment that RPing brings and although I did not play or RP in 1.0 I look forward to meeting you all when ARR goes live.
