    Yo

Hey everyone! Just recently came back (played in legacy) to the game when a few peeps I knew picked up the game for console. After quite a bit of badgering they got me to sign back up and it's kinda nice to see how much better things seem to be : ) Anywho, after wandering YouTube a couple days ago I noticed that a few of the folks I used to play with still seem to be hanging around the FFXIV space and by proxy found this site, so that's why I'm here. I was thinking about spinning up a new RP toon on Balmung though I'm not entirely sure what I want to do at this point. N'bo was kinda fun to play, but I might try something different. Hopefully I'll see some of you around, N'bo
  2. That doesn't meant he RIAA won't push hard to get the same status as software. We're talking about a group that wants radios (and thus royalty revenue) in every piece of electronic equipment. There's quite a bit of a difference between the RIAA being able to enforce anything and a software organization being able to enforce something. Software can track usage, requires updates, and has many active features while music is just flat data. Even if the RIAA somehow got music, movies, or any other flat data to fall in the same category as software how would they enforce it any better than they do trying to tag music pirates (which they are horrible at btw)? And for that matter how many people buy used CDs/music? Most people I know buy their music either from a store that cells new CDs or from an online distributer which would be the same as buying something new. The only exception I can think of are vinyl records and old tapes, but the major record companies associated with the RIAA don't even produce those anymore, so I doubt they'd be scrounging around garage sales trying to peg someone. The problem with being paranoid about the RIAA or any other private copyright enforcement agency is that there are too many people in the world with a computer, the Internet, and just day-to-day friends. It costs too much money to catch everyone (or anyone) and if someone decides to fight back it costs them much more than they gain. It pretty much all works off of fear, so as long as you just ignore them they lose.
  3. However it wasn't really affirmed by the courts till now. EULAs exist, but many have unenforceable parts. It's been affirmed in court several times. The only thing that has ever been iffy are what can go in EULAs, but even that has been defined by at least 5-6 cases in the US over the past decade. The ruling hasn't changed anything, it just followed precedent set by previous cases.
  4. Actually, while we're on this topic. You don't have a right to free speech in a game. The first amendment protects your freedom of speech from being abridged by the federal government. That's another common misconception.
  5. ...? Anyone who has written software already knew this. It's why companies can ban you from a game you buy or pull a license if you use their software for purposes they don't agree with. You on the other hand have the ability to modify the software all you want as long as it is to get it to work with your system and you don't distribute it (or distribute under the guidelines in the EULA). Really, that article says nothing new.
  6. 10 pages hrm... do I have anything to add? Hm... Someone mentioned "Fear is the mind killer" on the first page, so here is the whole litany: I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain. It's sorta related to what I have in mind, I swear. A lot of posts are about the potential pitfalls of RP relationships (though I have noticed almost everyone talks about romantic ones, there are certainly other types!), but pitfalls alone shouldn't really be a reason not to do something. There are lots of potentially benefits like having someone you can always rely on for good RP or establishing RL friendhips that last longer than you tenure with the game. In the end you should just what you want and what feels right, which isn't always what common sense or logic dictate when it comes to RP content. Hehe, pretty much applies to real life too. Imagine how lame a relationship would be (or how unlikely they'd actually happen...) if they were based entirely on binary logic.
  7. D: Hey you. It's Lexi from Aion! Wtf are you doing here?
  8. I didn't think control + r worked at the moment. It works along with all other ctrl+ shortcuts only if the chat bar is already open.
  9. Short and sweet: The game requires about another 6 months of development. They aren't done and won't be until well after launch.
  10. Added some general notes to the top
  11. If anyone could grab level 1 HP and MP when they create a character let me know! Include starting discipline and race. To get the level 1 stats you might have to check them before the "intro" battle between the beginning cutscenes.
  12. Male & Females are the same state wise. All races start with 90 attribute points and 90 elemental points -Considering you get 4 for each for your first level any differences at higher levels are pretty negligible. The highest difference between two people possible with same point load out is 6. Starting stats for this reason are more than likely purely cosmetic (unless 6 points makes a large difference at higher levels). The function of DEX and Meta-Stats is mostly unknown -Acc, eva, parry, block, crit, and ranged damage would be a lot for one stat and right now Dex is the only real candidate to directly effect them. Physical accuracy and possibly ranged damage are probably the only safe bets at this point if compared to it's magic equivalent (Str - Int, Vit - Mind, Dex - Piety). -I have a feeling the meta-stats are wrapped more into your current job than based on the main stats. See HP and MP. There are no stated or noted bonuses for Birthday choice or Guardian god. HP and MP is believed to be a function of Physical Level and current job Midlander: Str:16 Lightning:15 Vit:15 Wind:15 Dex:14 Water:16 Int:16 Ice:13 Mind:13 Earth:15 Piety:16 Fire:16 Highlander: Str:18 Lightning:18 Vit:17 Wind:14 Dex:15 Water:13 Int:13 Ice:16 Mind:15 Earth:14 Piety:12 Fire:15 Wildwood: Str:14 Lightning:14 Vit:13 Wind:18 Dex:18 Water:15 Int:17 Ice:14 Mind:12 Earth:17 Piety:16 Fire:12 Duskwight: Str: 15 Lightning:15 Vit:14 Wind:12 Dex:15 Water:16 Int:18 Ice:16 Mind:15 Earth:17 Piety:13 Fire:14 Plainsfolk: Str:13 Lightning: 17 Vit:13 Wind:15 Dex:17 Water:15 Int:16 Ice:13 Mind:15 Earth:16 Piety:16 Fire:14 Dunesfolk: Str:12 Lightning:15 Vit:12 Wind:16 Dex:15 Water:12 Int:16 Ice:12 Mind:17 Earth:18 Piety:18 Fire:17 Seekers: Str:16 Lightning:12 Vit:15 Wind:13 Dex:17 Water:17 Int:13 Ice:15 Mind:14 Earth:15 Piety:15 Fire:18 Keepers: Str:13 Lightning:16 Vit:12 Wind:15 Dex:16 Water:14 Int:14 Ice:18 Mind:18 Earth:14 Piety:17 Fire:13 Sea Wolf: Str:17 Lightning:13 Vit:18 Wind:17 Dex:13 Water:18 Int:12 Ice:17 Mind:16 Earth:12 Piety:14 Fire:13 Hellsguard: Str:15 Lightning:14 Vit:16 Wind:16 Dex:12 Water:15 Int:15 Ice:14 Mind:17 Earth:13 Piety:15 Fire:18
