  1. Thanks for the replies! The thing is, she's not really tribal as she was taken away from Vulture by her father when she was a baby. She was taken to Limsa and raised there, so she was born in a tribe but considers herself Limsan as she doesn't know much about her tribe. She has more of a Hyur/Lala name and not so much Miqo. The background info helps though!
  2. Sounds good, thanks! At some point soon I'll have more information on my RPC. It's all in my mind I just have to write it out. Hopefully if you read that you might be able to get a better idea of what would make sense for her to suddenly start studying magic. I appreciate the help!
  3. Whoa! I'm blown away by the amount of work you put into this! I'm super impressed that you went around and compiled the list of tribal miqo by location, kinda sucks that it was inconclusive, but still...that fact that you actually attempted to figure it out is impressive. I'm coming from ESO, which is lore heavy, and I find much of the lore in Final Fantasy hard to find. Anyway...this little tidbit caught my eye: "The self-proclaimed Seekers of the Sun are the diurnal clan of the Miqo'te race. Their preference for the warm light of day pervades all aspects of their culture, as is apparent in their devout reverence for Azeyma the Warden, goddess of the sun. Though relatively few in Eorzea, a small number of them have been accepted into everyday life by the other races in the port city of Limsa Lominsa. Others are known to make their home in the region of the Sagolii Desert." So...would it make sense for a tribe like Vulture to roam the desert? Just based on the name...Vulture...I imagine sort of a nomadic scavenger type of tribe. I'm not sure how much the tribe name correlates to the actual animal, but that was sort of what I was going off of. Also, Seeker of the Sun, the sun being very present in the desert. Would be interested in hearing what you think. Thanks so much!
  4. Thanks for the replies and information! Seems like I have a bit more reading/researching to do then before I make a determination on what path I'll choose for the future of Asuna. It's one of those things that opens a door, only to discover that there are half a dozen other doors that you have to open and figure out whats behind each one. :dazed:
  5. Hey all, I'm looking to establish some contacts with others who are currently or who plan on becoming red mages when Stormblood comes out. Would it make sense for red mages to just suddenly pop up out of nowhere, or would they have been there all along. I'm new to Final Fantasy lore, so I'm not sure what would make sense. Would red mages start out in the far east (since that is where the expansion is opening up)? Trying to plan out my characters background and future plans, so any information would be appreciated! Thanks! ps. Are mages sort of frowned upon? They seem to not be very trusted from what I've gathered from some rp'ing. Also, is it true that black mages pretty much keep their powers a secret? Why is this? (Sorry for so many questions!)
  6. Hey all, As I officially write down my background onto my RPC page, I started to wonder if there was any actual official lore regarding any of the Miqo'te tribes. Google searches don't really turn up with anything, and I think someone said I should be part of the Vulture tribe because I'm a Seeker, or something. Vulture sounds cool anyway, so I went with that. All I really made up about them is that they live deep in the Thanalan, pretty elusive and wary of outsiders. Does anyone have any official sources or even non-canon sources regarding Vulture or any tribes for that matter? Would be curious to read up on them for continuity purposes. Thanks!
  7. Ah, I had to update that...she isn't actually a wanderer. Settled in Ul'dah for now as its the easiest way to travel to the Golden Saucer. Asuna's occupation currently is Chocobo Racer, but that is subject to change once she establishes herself more. Nevertheless, I'd look forward to meeting you sometime!
  8. Hello! I've recently returned to the game as I'm excited for the new expansion. I hope to play as a red mage, as it fits my miqo's overall theme. Anyway, check out my rpc in my sig, it's a work in progress though!
  9. Thanks! I'm just now getting our pirate crew up and running, and our first LS event is this Friday. I'll definitely be contacting you for this Pirate Night in the future though!
  10. I'm thinking of having my pirate rp crew (The Crimson Coeurl) host a bi-weekly pirate night at the Wench. The purpose is to draw some rp to Limsa, as it seems that Ul'dah gets all the love currently. I'm really trying to just gauge interest here. There would be a drinking game with a gil entry fee and a grand prize winner. What I'm also looking for, because I have no idea where to find it, is other weekly events on our server, so I don't take someone else's time slot. I know there is Runestone, and I think a melee class duel battle as well? There are probably others. Anyway let me know what you think, thanks!
  11. If this is true, that is awesome!!!
  12. Hello all! I made a post a while back looking for sailor or piratey individuals who are looking for pirate-type rp. Well...it looks like the Crimson Coeurl is having her first rp'd voyage this Friday (the 2nd), 10pm EST. If you are interested in this, message me here or send me a tell (Asunasari Volsani) in game. If you can't make this but are still interested in our rp, please contact me anyway. Thanks and take care!
  13. The Chinese server gets male and female Chinese themed clothes. I really want this on the US server! Why can't we have it!? Grumble grumble grumble...pay $15 a month for this...grumble grumble.
  14. Thanks for your help! I probably will eventually branch it into its own RPC. For now I want to work on the content. One more question, I'm trying to hyperlink for a redirect, and it's not working. This is what I'm putting in: Please redirect to...Asunasari Volsani Edit: Ahh, nevermind. Fixed it by finding your page and looking at your source work Kilieit!
  15. Hello! So I'm making an RPC page for myself and also for my IC pirate crew...and there is just one thing about it so far that is bugging me. Is there a way to change my site name from User:Asunasari to just Asunasari or even Asunasari Volsani? My current WIP site is here: https://wiki.ffxiv-roleplayers.com/pages/User:Asunasari Thanks for any help!
  16. Thank you for your reply! Will have to get in touch with you in game Edit: Tried to /tell you and then add you to friends list, says cannot locate character. Do we have to be online at the same time maybe?
  17. Hello! My partner and I are starting an rp pirate crew in game, and are recruiting new members! The ship is named The Old Coeurl, an old but experienced vessel that hunts down Garlean merchant ships and steals their cargo and scuttles their ships. We have started out very small, but our members consist of: Mormegil "Gil" Fea'noro (Captain) Asunasari "Asuna" Volsani (First Mate) Millicent Storm (Gunner) Mikha (Able Bodied Sailor) We are in need of filling in some high ranking jobs: Quartermaster Sailing Master Boatswain Carpenter/Surgeon Master Gunner Some other more common jobs we are looking for: Gunner Able Bodied Sailors/Mauraders If you want to find out more about these jobs, here is a great link: http://www.thepirateking.com/historical/ship_roles.htm Feel free to respond here, or /tell me in game (Asunasari Volsani)
  18. Hehe, someone described me as someone who "pulls levers to see what happens." I'm just trying to break the whole concept of why even use the light/medium/heavy rp tags, as it seems like nobody is (and probably shouldn't be) IC the whole time they play. Even when playing a tabletop rpg, there is tons of discussion out of character about what the parties best course of action is to take, at least from my experience. OOC is important!
  19. I think some stories become more realistic though when they do bring real human elements into the fold. For example, Vincent Vega was shot by Butch when he was coming out of the bathroom in Pulp Fiction. Game of Thrones is another good example that shows these human elements. The old Lannister dude was shot by Tyrion when he was on the toilet (sorry for the toilet examples I can't think of anything else). Also, I'm with Flynn in that I'm not big on rp tags. My own in game says something like "RP / Walk-ups welcome"
  20. I've read heavy rp described as people who are always in character, even when doing pve content. They will walk everywhere to not break character. Does anyone actually do this? Is heavy rp even a thing? One of the main questions in the welcome desk is what kind of rp'er are you, and I've been seeing a lot of medium-heavy answers.
  21. Ahh it was you wasn't it!? Crap, I didn't earn any points!
  22. haha those are awesome! Wouldn't mind being in one myself
  23. Hello! I just started playing FFXIV last week I think, and have been enjoying the game immensely so far. I started out on Faerie but switched to Balmung to rp. --MMORPG background: I've played several mmo's before, but my list in terms of previous favorites first would go like this: ESO, GW2, WoW, EQ2, SWTOR. --RP experience: I've played tabletop rpg's for much of my life. I've also rp'd in ESO for almost two years. --Character ideas/info: My character on Balmung is a female miqo'te seeker named Asunasari Volsani. She is 23 years old and is from Limsa. Her father is an old mage who was powerful in his day, named Sol Volsani. He used to go by the nickname Sol-Vol. Her family is reclusive and did not take part in clan life, hence the non-conventional Miqo'te name. Her father is currently retired, although he serves as an adviser to the Arcanist's Guild in Limsa. He sent Asunasari to Ul'dah to study magic at the Thaumaturgist's Guild, and also so that she could discover her own path and not follow in his footsteps directly. Since Asunasari arrived, she met a mercenary in the Quicksand who intrigued her. Since her father knew that Ul'dah had its share of dangers and Asuna would be defenseless by herself, he gave her money to hire a bodyguard. Asunasari hired the merc as her bodyguard, and immediately became inspired by his great cannon. Since then, she has decidedly gone against her father's will and has been training under her bodyguard's tutelage to become a mercenary herself. --How did you learn about the coalition?: Someone in game told me about it, I forgot who. --What kind of a role-player are you aiming to be? Light, medium, or heavy?: Pretty heavy, I describe myself as heavy as ESO has pretty heavy rp compared to what I've seen so far in FFXIV. Not that I'm criticizing the rp in FFXIV, just that there seems to be slightly less serious rp'ers (and far too many exclusively erp'ers from what I can tell). --Anything from real life you're comfortable with sharing? (Work, school, hobbies, etc): I typically don't share anything about my real life when playing games with people I don't know - it's nothing personal but I immerse myself in the game and not drag real life into it.
