  1. Well, yeah. I mean...if you're leaving the server then there's definitely an implication there that says something is wrong or less than optimal. If it's as simple as "I would like to try to start a new roleplaying community on X server because I just want to" then that's a completely valid reason for wanting to pick up and move. Although it's likely going to be a reason that'd be frowned upon (splitting a small community up never sits well in anyone's eyes). Buuuut, I'm reading all sorts of reasons for wanting to go to Gilgamesh. Everything from escaping cliques to starting fresh to reaching out to non-RPing communities. If you just want to start a community elsewhere because you want to start a community elsewhere, just say that. You don't need to justify it any more than that, in all honesty. Like I said, it may not make you the most popular kid on the block but eh. All this is doing is making it look as though Gilgamesh has some horrible problem with Balmung. A problem that no one really understands because, as you said, it doesn't exist. That's the vibe I'm getting.
  2. Isn't it a bit pot meets kettle to suggest that another community be split (especially to go to another place where ONCE again many have stated right here in this very thread that they would like to avoid them) from their original group? That's Reddit's concern, not the RPC's. It sounds like (to me) that you're suggesting that you're packing up and going to Gilgamesh in order to reach out so that these roleplaying Redditors will have a RP community to enjoy on their own server. As honorable as that sounds...is it not a bit melodramatic? I'm an avid Redditor and I still had the ability to choose between the Reddit community and my other friends on Balmung. If they want to roleplay, they can definitely find roleplay. If not on their own server, then on a different one. It's the way it's always been, and I've never seen a problem with it in the past. I'm not saying it's not a perk to Gilgamesh. But is it really a reason? I'd also like to point out (and back up Teardrop) by saying that I don't see any of this cliquishness that keeps being referred back to. In fact, I've never known for an entire RP community to be so horrid that it shuns new players. I've known guilds to be elitist, but those guilds have never been the poster child for roleplaying communities. Not to mention, Gilgamesh (or any other roleplaying server out there) won't be immune to elitist guilds. All in all, people have the right to choose where they want to go. I suppose it just seems like most of the arguments for Gilgamesh have been arguments against Balmung. When in reality, I have yet to see any of these so-called problems that are apparently exclusive to Balmung roleplayers.
  3. Definitely the draw of Gilgamesh. Honestly? As a new player, I've even thought about it. I've also known people who have said the same thing and are sticking with their decision. They don't like the idea that some people on Balmung will get a leg up from the get-go. When it came down to it, I decided I don't think it'll matter in a few weeks. Of course, I can't speak for everyone and have no intention of generalizing everyone into the same pool. I'm sure there are other reasons to join Gilgamesh (or any other server, for that matter). But I'm just saying. I kinda wish RPC would pick a single server to "sponsor", and then have another sub-forum for other servers. I guess that's not a popular or particularly nice opinion to have, but...It's just how I feel based on what I've seen on the forums.
  4. I think that's the problem. I'm a new player and I'm going to Balmung to be with friends, but if I had come into the RPC without any idea as to where I would end up...I'd be a little hesitant. To me (someone coming in with zero experience in either server), it seems more like a competition between servers to win people over than anything else. Which is what I meant when I said I didn't like to see the community splitting.
  5. Everything Sylas said. +1 I hate seeing the RP community split.
  6. Holy crap, these are gorgeous! They're all beautiful and the first is definitely my favorite. Absolutely fantastic! Please post more when you do them!
  7. 10/10! I really like Azyria just in a general sense. It's quite pretty and definitely (to me) sounds Miqo'te-ish. I could definitely see it being the name of a NPC standing around town, so it fits in my mind! Jeanette Lenoire - 10/10 - I like it! It definitely fits all the points of an Elezen name. Agata Blysstahlwyn - 9/10 - Agata is beautiful. Blysstahlwyn is a bit of a mouthful imho, but it still fits the bill in any case. Helene Duval - 10/10 - Beautiful name and the surname sounds very Midlanderish. ---------------------- The name I'd like to be looked over is Anselm Graybringer, a male Highlander. You can rate Eve Nightingale as well if you like (a female Highlander) but her surname intentionally strays from the lore-friendly naming conventions (Hint: It's not her family name, just one she gave herself to break away from her family!).
  8. I. Basic Info Characters: Eve Nightingale, Anselm Graybringer Primary character: Eve Nightingale Linkshells: Not sure yet! Primary RP linkshell: Uhh, unknown! II. RP Style Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): Medium - Heavy. I really enjoy RP, and that can definitely take up the majority of my playtime on a game. But I also really enjoy PvE and questing and leveling and collecting armor and story! So there may be times that you'll see me waltzing around the world out of character just doing PvE stuff. Views on RP combat and injuries: I really like keeping things in line when roleplaying, so I have no issue with playing out injuries and combat and such. Actions have consequences. And that's what makes roleplay so fun! Views on IC romance: Who doesn't enjoy a good love story? I think it can be great and extremely fun! Romance brings characters together, can put them in exciting situations, and lead to all sorts of interesting plots. My main character (Eve) is going to come into the game with a prearranged romantic relationship, but yeah! Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): Totally love it! There are endless possibilities! It's the main sort of roleplay I think I take part in. Adventure, making friends, making enemies. Losing friends, overcoming enemies. So much to do, so little time. Views on lore: I don't know much about this world yet, but I definitely try to stick to lore as much as possible. I'm don't really enjoy roleplay that pulls from one universe and implants into another. I don't want to roleplay Game of Thrones in FFXIV or anything like that, lol. Views on chat functions (/say, /linkshell, etc): I think that channels like /say and such are strictly IC. It seems rude to clutter that up with OOC chat. If I have something to say OOCly, I'll whisper whoever it is I'm trying to contact or (if I'm speaking to multiple people) I'll try to keep it short, sweet, and in OOC brackets. III. Other Info Country: USA Timezone: Pacific Contact info: PMs over the forum work just fine!

    Hello!

Joined this place a while back but only just recently decided to start poking around! :} I'm coming in from WoW (WrA-Horde) and GW2 (Tarnished Coast). I'm known as Annaveil on those games and on Enjin, if I happen to know anyone here! Super excited to get into the game and start writing up a story. My character is Eve Nightingale! Uh. She has zero background at the moment, since I know very little about the lore of this place. Slowly working on it though! Good to meet all of you guys!
