Whispers in the Drowning Wench mention a sudden surplus in bodies found under the docks. The merchant who had worked the markets for years, the baker’s wife who had never hurt a soul, the Yellow Jacket who had been snooping around back alleys; all are said to be among those found but with the condition of the corpses, no one can be sure.

Some of the Wood Wailers can be heard slurring out curiosities as they leave The Bobbing Cork. There are new drugs on the market, like nothing they’ve ever seen. How they’ve reached so many hands so quickly remains a mystery and one has to wonder why some of those in law enforcement have not worked harder to extinguish the problem.

In Ul’dah, gossip has spread regarding a diverse band of individuals wandering off into the desert and returning with one or two missing from their original group. Yet, when such tales are questioned, very few can say they’ve actually witnessed the phenomenon. Regardless of the lack of evidence, the stories continue to be retold, each version varying and holding their own morbid twist as to what might be behind them.

What is Odin’s Avarice?

OOC, Odin’s Avarice (name pending, fingers crossed for the next patch!) is a mature, heavy roleplaying free company on FFXIV’s Balmung sever filled with friendly, fun, and passionate players. IC, Odin’s Avarice is an Eorzean crime syndicate with its hands in just about every type of criminal activity there is. Smuggling, extortion, intrigue, illicit research and more, the group has made a name for itself by being ruthless, efficient, and discreet. Run by its matron, criminal kingpin and respected merchant Luha Dalaan, the organization consists of four branches; Helm, focused on research and technology development; Sword, muscle used in extortion, racketeering, and escorts; Cloak, involved in smuggling, substance distribution, and thievery; Tension, involved in subterfuge, assassinations, and information. Each branch is overseen by one of the matron’s handpicked advisors, loyal and trusted confidants who have proven their strength and dependability. As of now, there are only two, Eva Cassel and Casey Blackwater who lead Helm and Sword respectively. With their numbers ever growing, Avarice is slowly forming a strangle hold on Eorzea’s underground and have no intentions on halting their efforts any time soon.

What are you looking for in terms of members?

As our theme might suggest, we are looking for criminal types of all sorts to contribute to our experience. Smuggler? Great. Thief? Fantastic? Hit man? Cool beans. Any type of crime you can think of, Avarice is most likely interested. The Matron however does insist on not being involved in the slave trade or prostitution, her reasoning being that both are “too messy.” We are also seeking people to take over the Cloak and Tension branches, however to achieve that position players would have to work at it for a significant amount of time, IC and OOC. We want to be able to get along with our officers and feel comfortable enough around them to discuss major FC issues. OOC, we want to find people who are easy to get along with, fun, and willing to work in an inclusive group without causing drama. We also expect people to know that OOC problems should not cross over into IC and vice versa.

How can I join?

Joining is relatively easy! Submit an

application in a PM to Luha or on our (extremely work in progress) tumblr and once we’ve read over and approved it, one of the officers will contact you either on here or IG. After that, there will be two interviews; one out of character and one in character. If it seems you’d be a good fit, we’ll send you an invite. At that point, you will be placed on a two week trial period where we’ll be evaluating your behavior, just to make sure we don’t run into any problems. After those two weeks, the officers will discuss where we see you going in the company and what you add to it, after which we will have the same conversation with you. If everything’s kosher by the end of it all, we’ll extend an invitation for you to stay with us and offer you an IC and OOC promotion. So, what kind of behavior are we watching for? Involvement and conduct, to put it simply. We need to see that you and your character fit in well with everyone and represent our company in an appropriate manner.

Is there a way to be involved with Odin’s Avarice without joining the company?

Of course! We love having connections with other players, be they other criminal sorts, law enforcement, corrupt officials or merely people paid to pass gossip along. In fact, we even have an IC linkshell specifically for those in such positions which all are welcome to use to seek roleplay.

Is there anything else I need to know?

One of the most important things that we try to get across is that all ranks are decided based on IC interactions. Should your character prompt the officers to fire them or if your character quits, we will have to remove you from the FC. That’s not to say your character couldn’t join up again at a later date, or continue to interact with us, but it needs to be understood that this is how our company works. Beyond that, there are the obvious issues that need to be addressed. We will not tolerate bigotry in any form and will act as expected when it comes to dealing with it. One warning will be given and should it continue, you will be removed from the company. We expect you to treat both other members and outside players with respect and courtesy and for you to remember that with our tag over your head, you are representing all of us with your OOC actions. We cannot hold any IC actions against you, assuming they are not derived from meta gaming or personal attacks. Essentially, don’t be an ass OOC; feel free to be an ass IC, to an extent. If there are any other questions you have, feel free to ask here or with a tell to Luha Dalaan, Casey Blackwater, or Eva Cassel! We hope to hear from you. <3
