A Crows Feathers (Story)

((Usually these stories will be related to things I have done in game or will be building up to.))

 

-Reporting to Baelsar's wall-

 

Crow finally makes it to the gates of Baelsar's wall while avoiding serpent sentries. His wounds from his job did not make the journey a pleasant one but the eventual payout will make it worth while.

 

 

As he approaches the gates, Empire guards immediately surround him and begin to threaten him

 

"Look what we have here everyone, it seems we have someone who wants to try and play hero. You do know where you are right? no amount of armor or weaponry will protect you from our- Crow cuts in.

 

"Asset Crow here to report about completion of operations and to retrieve payment for success. Identification number is 9230114, cleareance level red, I believe your commander is expecting my arrival and I suggest you let them know I have arrived." The guards give pause and look at each other recognizing the ways of identification and one quickly puts his hand to his ear, after a few moments he waves the other guards to get back to their post and signals to the Crow that he can proceed. Crow walks past them without the slightest hesitation and enters the facility to see numerous magitek machinery and empire soldiers moving about, to Crow their seemed far more activity than usual and thought musingly to himself that more money may be coming his way sooner than he thought.

 

Arriving at the commanders facility he removes his helmet and leaves his weapon with the guard posted outside as was proper procedure. After a time waiting in the lobby his called in via PA to enter the commanders room.

 

"Crow you have done good work, my soldiers are reporting in about the operation and aside from the predictable skirmish that came about there were no casualties on our side, add on to the fact a priestess of Rhalgr was secured and it is quite clear this operation you suggested has yielded great benefits in the battles to come."

 

Crow gives the commander an imperial salute, although he was not imperial military he was a professional who wanted to please his clients whenever the opportunity may arise to perhaps ring in a bit more gil.

 

"Ah so the priestess made it here, good I was a bit worried a mishap could have occurred en route but the empire once more shows its capabilities to succeed."

 

The commander nods before continuing "As outlined in the contract you will receive full payment for this operation as well as the bonus for the securing of the priestess. You may have seen the up tick in activity here, things on the other side of the wall are beginning to intensify and as such a large deployment of troops from here will be sent out to reinforce them. Although there are no details right now the higher ups are determining your next assignment and the proper pay for it. Until word is received you are to remain on standby in Baelsar's wall, that will be all."

 

Crow gives one more salute before leaving the room and subsequently the building, he retrieves his weapon and makes way to the medical facility to have his wounds treated while contemplating what his new assignment may be as well as the possible money he could be earning if it involves direct deployment into war zones. He thinks back to the time he was contracted during the doman rebellion and can only look forward to what the Ala Mhigans may offer as opponents.

 

(Side Note:Any thing my character does on the wall will be highly dependent on the events of 3.5 whether or not I can participate we will see but I got plans if it is not feasible.)

While holding a wound he suffered in battle during the assault the crow looks at the now very different night sky in the shroud and muses to himself.

 

"These Eorzeans certainly have a talent for the mystical and unpredictable." As he looked at the object he thought briefly of the battles waged within Baelsar's Wall, he was sent over away from the main bulk of the attack to secure other areas vulnerable to attack. While he met with resistance it was nothing too substantial however still recovering from earlier injuries he sustained a new one in the middle of combat. After all was said and done he thought for an invasion force it was pretty bland until the night sky burst into light and the ball of light was above him. One of the soldiers ran over giving him a linkpearl and told him to leave the wall and head back into Eorzea saying the commander will contact him. The crow while knowing he was not paid for his last job quickly determined given the situation asking for pay at this instance would have been met with an all likely severe consequence so he simply left the wall and waited on the outskirts for the call where he would then, a safe distance from the hornets nest figure out his pay.

 

 

A ring on his linkpearl comes in and he responds

 

"Crow here, as you directed I repelled what I could of the invasion force and suffered minimal casualties on my side although it seems others were not graced with such luck. I do hope the empire does not want me to deal with that ball of light above the wall, should you even offer me a country I would not even know how to deal with it."

 

"That ball of light is matter for the empire not a mercenary." the voice says firmly and with a tinge of annoyance and anger. The crow did not blame him, the abruptness of the attack as well as the casualties and now an unknown entity looming overhead one of their military installations gives reason enough for the empire to have a new found cause for bringing Eorzea under its control. He smiled a bit since that meant there was more work to come, the voice over the pearl continued.

 

"In light of this new situation your new contract is to keep an eye on alliance movements as well continue what work you can on the resistance, it is clear with this attack the alliance wishes to further bolster its military strength by uniting with the people of Ala mhigo. You will have fewer resources available to you until the matter with this ball is resolved, communication will also be lessened as we cannot risk it being listened upon. Should you wish to contact us you will have to relay your information to the agents we have embedded already. When the matter of this ball is resolved you will be contacted promptly so that we may assign you a more appropriate task to make the Eorzeans lament this foolish incursion, until then you are to serve out your contract to its fullest in service to the empire."

 

"And my pay for the work and service comitted so far?" He said with a firmness and little fear

 

"You will be paid appropriately mercenary in time but the situation as it stands requires funding to repair the damage done by this incursion. If you wish to get paid then why don't you eliminate the resistance and the alliance while you are at it, you claim to be the best in your field so prove it. If you can't then shut up and do your job, don't forget your place outsider." the pearl goes silent

 

The crow laughs as he looks up at the sky "If not careful you may need such outsiders more than you care for if things continue to get more out of hand." He turns and begins walking into the shroud while thinking how to carry out his job and earn his pay.
