Sharlayan Bookworm Looking for Connections

Recommended Posts

Rin'li Amai, bibliophile extraordinaire, is looking for a few friends, enemies, whatever!

A little about myself OOC:

  • I'm PST, so I play a little later than a lot of people, so other west coasters would be a plus but not required by any means.

  • I've been RPing for a long time, both in games (MMOs and the like), tabletop RPGs, and forum RP. I tend to write a little more in my posts, but I don't mind partners that don't post huge paragraphs, content is what maters most of all.

  • I love lore! The more lore the better! I try to adhere to FFXIV lore as much as I can, but I don't mind a little bending here and there as long as the story/character is good and interesting and not to completely off the wall.

A little about Rin'li: (*Wiki*)

Rin'li is a researcher, and historian hailing from Sharlayan and has only recently come south to Eorzea. He's polite and cheerful and excruciatingly curious about everything. Right now he knows very few people and is looking for contacts in Eorzea; Fellow scholars and bookworms. Adventurers. Maybe even other Sharlayans if he can find them!

Possible Plotting Hooks:

  • Any fellow erudites
  • People looking for rare books
  • Magical assistance, alchemy, limited healing
  •  Anyone interested in Sharlayan or other Sharlayans
  • Pretty much anything else, just ask!

The best ways to contact me are here through this thread or private message, or in game on Mateus. :chocobo:

From one Sharlayan Miqo'te to another, best of luck! If only you were on Balmung... Alas. He looks like an interesting character, and you have a nice start to your wiki!

Lol, welp...right up my alley, to be honest. Though I'm not on as much as I'd like (looking at you Destiny 2) and a strong focus on Au'Ra alt atm, however, I'm game for rp when I can. I've been too quiet on the rp side of things.

My char is a bookworm and I try to follow lore best I can, though with our limited knowledge of Nym and Belah'da I tend to insert my own things that sound reasonable enough but only when needed. For instance, I've developed a type of ward system that could have existed in the age of Belah'dan rule from the ward thing you had to retrieve from the 2.1 story quest.

Thus, he's a Scholar and a Scholar of the magical sorts. He is into rare books, which is why he likes to explore ruins on his own. He can keep any rare book he finds interesting and donates/sells everything else (my house reflects his book collection...I'm still adding books to the house lol). He doesn't have a strong opinion about Sharlyans, though was heading to the Students of Baldesion just as the Calamity struck, thus never reached it.

Sadly, as Aurou states...if you were on Balmung it would be great to rp with ya lol.

Oh, how excellent! Another Sharlayan! :moogle:

 Since Rin'li's new to Eorzea and such, if he ever needs help, he's welcome to come to Enqu for help, anytime! Being a cartographer, he knows the place like the back of his hand! There's actually an event he's hosting tomorrow, from 3 PM (EST) to an indefinite time (latest being midnight EST), so you can show up anytime! Just head to the Mist, 5th Ward, Plot 5! Around the three major city-states, he can find this flyer;

 Whether or not you think you can make it, feel free to PM me here or tell Enqu Gosaqu in-game that you'd like the arrange a meeting sometime! Good luck and have fun!

So we’d never be able to play in game due to different servers, but I feel like we could probably make a non-game RP work, through Discord or something! ;u;

I have a character, Lev, who travels everywhere for odd jobs. He’s never been outside of Eorzea but he’s studied in the astrologian arts (he has a more detailed history in this other post I made). With how the astrologian quests work out, it’s likely he would’ve at least heard of Sharlayan and their propensity for not letting knowledge be known to outsiders. With both of them being studious magic users, there’s some common ground there to start with— a native Eorzean and a Sharlayan sharing their stories with the other, and expanding each others’ views of the world around them.

If you’re interested, we can PM and exchange Discords there if it looks like it could work.
