SQUAWK Posted April 30, 2018 Share #1 Posted April 30, 2018 - Mateus - A server-wide RP event - Long-term - Various times / locations Birds of a Feather is a server-wide Mateus RP event focusing on chocobo and the people who care about and/or for them. The event has no set end date, and will be run in "phases," all total likely lasting between one and two months. Specific roles will need be filled, but this is also a passive plot in that even characters whose players don't have time to fill a key role can participate simply by acknowledging something is amiss. "Officers" for the event can be reached via discord: BOPIT#2426 Blurzerker#0328 hawk husband#5905The rules are few and fairly simple: 1. Don't be a jerk. 2. For some of our needed roles, there will be IC consequences. Please do not volunteer for them if you're not okay with that! 3. Likewise, chocobo can and, more importantly, will perish during this event. Please do not volunteer to have a sick bird if you're not willing to RP that out. There will be other parts to play! 4. If you obtain knowledge for an upcoming "phase" OOC, do not skip ahead IC. It starts when a prized racing chocobo is found dead in their stall, cause unknown. They call it a tragedy. Unexpected.Fingers are pointed. There's talk of poisoning from a competitor; of tainted gysahl greens; of inadequate care within the stables;of dormant heart conditions; of it being nothing more than a stroke of bad luck. And then the public eye looks elsewhere.Until it happens again. Over the course of two weeks, four otherwise healthy chocobo are suddenly on the decline. Three die. One is on death's door. Veterinarians and adept breeders are brought in to root out a cause, but find only common symptoms: perpetually ruffled feathers, dry skin, a faint red ring around the eye, and refusal to eat or drink. The illness gets a passing mention in several news outlets, most in Ul'dah, nearest to the source of the tension. One paper dubs it "Racer's Flu," advising that all racing chocobo exposed to it be isolated, if not culled. This is met with outrage by those with expensive, high pedigree birds, and soon the spotlight shines brighter on the resulting dramatics than the sickness itself. Meanwhile, civilians are instructed to keep their companion, working, and transportation birds away from possible hosts. Nothing to worry about. For Phase One, we are seeking for general roles: 1. Characters with racing chocobo (whether or not they themselves are jockeys) 2. Veterinarians or chocobo breeders3. People to spread the word stuff's going down 4. Anyone whose livelihood involves or relies on chocobo. 5. Have another idea? Let us know! Link to comment
SQUAWK Posted May 9, 2018 Author Share #2 Posted May 9, 2018 In Southern Thanalan, not far from Little Ala Mhigo, sits a pair of stables built to house up to twenty of Ul'dah's racing chocobo, frequent runners of the track on Sagolii Road. Recently over half the birds in attendance have fallen hopelessly ill, becoming despondent and succumbing to delirium. The stables, hale and hearty chocobo included, have been quarantined despite public outcry. Some say it will condemn otherwise healthy birds, several of them famous and beloved Sagolii's racing circuit, to inevitable death. As word of this spreads to Ul'dah itself, there is call for answers, and so there shall be. A meeting of sorts is set to take place on the steps of the city itself. _____________________________________________________________OOC: The meeting will be held in Ul'dah - Steps of Nald ( 8.5 , 10.2 ) this coming Friday (the 11th) at 9 PM EST. Who can attend? Anyone! While characters with an actual interest / personal stake in the matter are highly desired, any ICly curious soul or random passerby is more than welcome to participate. What would my character know? Presuming your character has kept their ear to the ground, they would know everything above in the overview, and may also have heard that the outbreak allegedly began with a high pedigree racing chocobo, Victor's Jade, who is coincidentally owned by the same man who owns the deed to the stables, Destry Barlow,. Add to that his long-time business parter, Obnoxious Roach, is the one overseeing the meeting, and there's been gossip this is nothing more than damage control on behalf of their group -- and gil.
