Hi there! 

 

I'm new to ffxiv i just started today, I come from a long history of RP on World Of Warcraft and wanted to ask a few questions about RP here before I get stuck in,

Firstly, I'd like to make sure that i'm on the right server, I joined Balmung as it seemed like the server people considered the most for RP.

Secondly, I'd like to know if there is an equivalent to WoWs stormwind, a big city where people stand around and RP in the open world and have open RP sessions with strangers rather than scripting it, is there anything like that here? and if so, where would that be?

Thirdly, I'd like to know if there is an equivalent to the TRP3 addon in wow, an RP addon that lets you write everything about your character in an accessible window so you can see about other peoples characters and know basic information on them before you begin RPing with them?

Hey there!

 

First off, welcome to FFXIV and the RPC!

 

I spent some time on both Mateus and Balmung, but Balmung pulled me back in. I was away for some time, though so it may be a lot different than the last time I was here, but I do remember that this used to be the place to be. I was able to catch some RP with a few folks last night and it was a great time! You can find RP almost anywhere. Taverns are a popular spot, so anywhere near them works too! Having your RP tag on and something in your profile (a much, much smaller TRP. It's like TRP with a Twitter character limit) mentioning you like walkups and/or tells can't hurt, either.

 

Really, you can find roleplay anywhere. If you're looking for congregations, again.. taverns/inns are your best bet. Ul'dah, Limsa, Gridania(?). You can always find someone with their RP tag up (sometimes they don't even do that and just roleplay without it!). As far as I know, nobody's lost a hand or a friend from initiating things or butting in to some conversations that caught their attention as they were passing by, but my etiquette is kind of.. sporadic? My social anxiety is crazy, so I tend to get a lot of folks that either saw my advertisements for tarot readings on here or were super curious about my little profile and wanted to know more. Good folks on here and in-game!

 

I don't think there are any addons, but I could be wrong. Again, we do have the Twitter limited profile we could set up that lets others know a very teensi bit about us, but we also have an RP tag we can put on that let's people know we are roleplaying or in the mood for it. You can see these by inspecting people and looking at that little speech bubble thing on the top(ish) left side, above their character.
