IC Background - Elizabeth Ravencroft, daughter of the noble heads of the Ishgardian House Ravencroft, had grown tired of her life, limited within her house, and concealed under the foreboding shadows of her family. As such, she set out to make her mark on the world, independent from her family. With the idea of a contracting company in her mind, she sought out those who would know the line of work well, due to experience: a mercenary for hire by the name of Azrul Valker, and his work partner at the time. The three met at a small cafe in the Goblet and discussed the possibility of this company. After a lengthy conversation, they were both convinced to come on board the founding of this company, whose name was decided then and there as Torchlight Ventures.

Enlisting the presence of a few more of Elizabeth’s former associates, including a discrete information broker by the name of Rikha Minhai, the group established themselves as an official, licensed contracting company, and rented out a small home in the Goblet to begin work out of. As their work increased, so too did the number of contractors, mercenaries, and tradesmen signing on for work. As such, it wasn’t long before Torchlight found itself in need of more space. As luck would have it, an expansion to the public housing divisions was imminent, and the group was able to secure a larger estate in La Noscea, which came to be known as the Sconce.

Torchlight Ventures only continued to grow from there, hiring more employees, including a gifted mage by the name of Jena Fairgraves, and an excitable chef in the form of Xara Jaqah. Torchlight also continued making a name for itself for its persistent and dedicated work performance. In light of their daughters’ success, however, Lord and Lady Ravencroft wished to conduct business with the group, and invest in their fair share of the profits. As part of a business arrangement between the two groups, a company accountant was sent from the Ravencrofts to Torchlight, a large, professional businessman by the name of Mister Gray. Mister Gray proved a key component to the continued success of Torchlight Ventures, later going on to work out a deal alongside Azrul to acquire a large manor back in the Goblet, which was given the name of the Brazier.

Acquiring permission from the Adventurer’s Guild to draft its own leve board, Torchlight Ventures continues to offer its goods and services to those with the gil to pay for it. The group also finds itself looking for new talent willing to sign on for employment with the company.
