A newcomer greets you! (new to FF, yet mature in RP)

Hello everyone!

After some time I decided to properly enjoy Final Fantasy since it seems to be the only well-known MMORPF I did not try.

I have spent years in World of Warcraft, I started roleplaying there as well, over 10 years ago, I think. I really loved WoW, since aside RP I do enjoy PVE and even PVP at times, but the game has changed, lore stopped making any sense to me at all and currently I am on break from WoW. I do miss my favourite class, though, which is Discipline Priest (healer focused on shielding that heals via dealing damage, no, I do not choose easy options) .
I've' spent some time in Elder Scrolls Online, actually I keep playing it since I am a huge fan of TES universe in general and it is very RP freindly. I can make as many alts I want to support the stories and dress them up nicely without need to level them. Not mentioning housing :) But I do not like combat system there, especially from healer PoV.

So, I am here now.

I chose Omega, through perhaps it was wiser to choose some NA server, but what is done that is done.

As for characters, I usually have several recurring ones that "travel" with me from one MMO to another, keeping the main traits but, of course, they are adapted to local lore and realities.

I am not yet sure who else will I bring to the game aside my main RP character  who is always under name of Glendwind Aerwindale (even if its not exactly always lore friendly but his name is sacred haha). In a nutshell, he is a young adult high elf (or any analogue you can have), caster who is focused mostly on protecting others. I really enjoy roleplaying characters who utilize all kind of supporting magicks, in contrast to direct "pewpew spells".  Serving type, loyal, rather easy going compared to the rest of his kin, though still an elf with his pride.

I have some more I like and want to try, but FFXIV does not seem to be too alt-friendly, so I'll hold my horses. My lore knowledge is non-existant so far, I started questing and, being level 15, I have long way to go! So I do not think I'll be ready to RP any time soon, I like feeling confident about the world I have my character in.

I hope to find someone on Omega who can be my trusted guide and a company and maybe then try RP in "safe environment". I have way too many silly questions to ask :)

As for other things, I am an adult person, my other hobbies are music and visual art. I also draw for roleplayers (and myself when I have time), my works can be found on https://www.deviantart.com/aerwindale

Thank you!

Hey there~ 🙂

And we are very happy to have you. I hope you've been having fun~

I find myself playing both WoW and this.. though, it hasn't been much of either lately. Just kinda been.. here, if that makes sense. I've kind of been in a special place for a while but this isn't the place xD..  I always ran Holy though. Disc scared me 😧. I liked Resto Druid, and I'll get around to Resto Shammy.. eventually..

I think ESO is the one game I haven't tried. I've seen some gameplay, though! It looks like something where anybody with any class can do any role, which kind of throws me for a loop because I'm not sure what I'd even do. Too many options puts me in a small panic state and I get a super flustered, lol. I can't imagine what it's like in dungeons or raids~

If it's not Famfrit, Balmung or Mateus, I'm not familiar with it. How is it over there so far? Are there nice people over there in EU? :P

I get what you're going for in terms of characters, though! I like to nurture and have alwaysalwaysalways RP'd and.. well.. been more of a supporting character than a leader. Don't lose that pride ;D - in terms of alts, though.. I'm not sure what you mean by this game being not alt friendly and I'm sorry. There may be some things out there that could stop you from wanting to create a supporting character to your supportive character (glamour, maybe?) but I'm not super sure and I am so sorry.

believe there are some super helpful topics in the lore discussion area of the site. If what you're looking for isn't covered, ask! We don't bite here. I don't think.

The main point is your enjoyment. There are some super informative folks here that can help you find your way. I hope that the combination of you looking for answers to your questions and finding people to accompany you on your journey lead to you settling into a place you can happily call home (there are plots open now and again, but I'm always thinking I'm being smart and am greeted by what I could swear is the entire server and I honestly have -100% idea what I'm doing anyway so I just attempt to play it off). So, please, get yourself a nice cup of your favorite beverage, feel encouraged to cruise through the RPC, and meet some more folks!

Hey hey. So far I've been having fun, though I was told "vanilla" (well ARR) Final Fantasy is really clumsy in many aspects. But game play wise I actually enjoy it, things feel right and intuitive.

ESO's many options are in the end narrowed down to "caster or physical, melee or ranged" choice, and there are always "best and optimal" build that people use in endgame so in the end its rather limiting. For solo playing and casual, though, you can pull off any concept. "Spellsword" or "priest in heavy armour", everything works fine with some calculations.

By "alt friendly" I mean how easy it is to make an alt character that can look good on early levels for RP, since I often come with sudden character idea I want to execute in roleplay.

As for PVE-wise, I already found out its rather hard to level several ones, haha. But well, one thing at a time. It's just all races are so beautiful, I want it all!

I found EU RP community discord and they've been super supportive already, so I am enjoying my journey so far. Thank you for your warm welcome!
I already low-key tested my character in Roleplay yesterday, while his core personality is the same, the new setting always brings its own corrections. It's interesting to rediscover him.

I'll leave couple of pictures, one screenshot made by someone from community and my attempt to draw him.

Anyway, if you ever on Chaos, welcome to poke me. Something tells me I am sticking here :)
