Magnus Posted August 2, 2010 Share #1 Posted August 2, 2010 Hello, I was wondering wither the creative center of this community would be interested in making some FFXIV films. I've been reading a few threads here and apparently there are a lot of writers here and I'm sure a few can do some directing and Video editing, including myself. With the customization of characters and all the emotes added a few shorts would be fun to do. Link to comment
Kashemia Posted August 2, 2010 Share #2 Posted August 2, 2010 Yes! I've been thinking about this as well. While I've never done any machinimas, I have done some video editing and instruction, so with the right programs to film and such, it could be pretty fun to try I'd love to get a project started. Zhavi Posted August 2, 2010 Share #3 Posted August 2, 2010 I could be an extra! I seriously <3 machinima. Link to comment
Axl Posted August 2, 2010 Share #4 Posted August 2, 2010 I am actually a veteran of the Machinima trade. So far, I am only seeing difficulties, this may change, but it is not very machinima friendly. Link to comment
ArmachiA Posted August 2, 2010 Share #5 Posted August 2, 2010 Because they don't use sliders, it's possible to make a model veiwer for the game, which would make things easier. As for wanting to do a project, absolutely! I'm skilled in the art of greenscreen and have written for FFXI machinima before. Would be interesting to pick it up Link to comment

I was thinking as log as you can clear the UI and have the view point in first person your set. Link to comment
ArmachiA Posted August 3, 2010 Share #7 Posted August 3, 2010 You can clear the UI... I just don't... remember how... Link to comment
Kashemia Posted August 3, 2010 Share #8 Posted August 3, 2010 I guess it depends on your skill and/or ambitions. It will definitely be trickier if they don't make a model viewer, but in no way impossible, you just have to go around it in a different way. It will be more like filming a "real" movie, where you need the actors in the right places. I see it as a fun challenge really Link to comment

I was thinking as log as you can clear the UI and have the view point in first person your set. It would require full access of movement of the camera without an anchor. and for a truly good machinima, animation and voice acting too. there are way too many problems to name. Link to comment
ArmachiA Posted August 4, 2010 Share #10 Posted August 4, 2010 It's difficult but not impossible, just expect to spend hours standing in the same spot looking for the right shot Link to comment
Kashemia Posted August 4, 2010 Share #12 Posted August 4, 2010 If people are dedicated enough, I really don't see why it should stop us. So, we don't have a modelviewer. I've seen some pretty good stuff come out of games that didn't have one, using cut scenes and dedication in "filming" out in the open. If people is dedicated enough, I say we give it a try, rather than just saying "it will be too complicated" and quit Link to comment
