A Wild Firnwood Appeared!

Recommended Posts

Hello all, Firnwood here.

So, here's the skinny:

The Me [Real Life Server]

MMORPG Background - I am new to FFXI:ARR (though I did get to play in the beta for a couple of days), but have been playing MMO's for years. I started with City of Heroes, spanned my time across games such as WoW, Everquest 2, Rift, LotRO, and most recently was heavily addicted to Guild Wars 2.

RP Experience - I am a 25 year nerd whose love of rp comes from my many, many years of playing tabletop pen and paper games like Dungeons & Dragons, Pathfinder, Shadowrun, Cyberpunk 2020, etc. Suffice it to say, I could go on and on with how many systems I have run and/or played. As such, my favorite thing to do is create a character on paper and then later on, create them in a virtual world. My character below is such a creation, originally from my own world in Pathfinder.

How Did You Learn of the Coalition - I was searching the Holy Google for the official/unofficial rp servers for FFXIV:ARR, came across a video by NelCelestine about Gilgamesh and Balmung, then found the Coalition through that Youtube channel.

What Kind of Roleplayer Do You Aim to Be (Light, Medium, or Heavy) - I am a heavy rp'er through and through. I haven't had an easy time finding strong rp servers or guild in recent history (very lacking in GW2) but I am hoping FFXIV:ARR can remedy that!

Real Life - Well, as I said above, I am a 25 year old nerd. I make end's meat, just enough to keep my lights on, hair washed, tummy filled, and hobbies covered. I live and game with my best friend and sister (they will be joining me Eorzea). Not sure what else to share other than to say that I am excited to have found this place.

The Character [balmung Server]

Mars Irvo

Male Hyur Midlander

11th Sun of the First Astral Moon - 19 years

Pugilist of Nald'thal

As a newborn, Mars was found abandoned on the steps of a monastery by Abbot Irvo, swaddled in fine silk with only a small coinpurse and a nearly illegible letter that read simply:

His name is Mars.

Keep him in care.

More coin to come.

Apologies.

For the better part of seventeen years, Abbot Irvo cared for the strange, sickly boy whose hair was the palest of blondes, a stark white to the untrained eye, and whose eyes shone bright scarlet. He lived a wholesome, happy childhood even if bedridden for most of it. When not taken ill, Mars spent his time either deep in his studies or sweating in the courtyard as he trained in the pugilist arts of his brethren. In fact, had he been born with such a terrible detriment to his core, many renown martial monks of the current age believed him to be capable of surpassing them, some say with ease.

Life was a basic routine for Mars, one of devotion to both mind and body, but, while his body had a known weakness, his mind had never been so tested as it was on the eve of his seventeenth name day. For it was that accursed day that Abbott Irvo, his caretaker, his mentor, his father, took ill from a sickness the mystics could not cure. Seventeen years the Abbot had cared for him and for two more, he cared for the Abbot.

It was on the day he laid his father in the ground that Mars took it upon himself to find his origin and, through the hunt, hopefully find his purpose. Little did he know that who he would at his beginnings shares his face, a twin sister, and together they would find purpose to either extricate or condemn the world.

Hopefully this wasn't too long-winded.

Cheers!

Welcome Firnwood!

Did you do that picture yourself :surprise: ?

Nice little introduction there. If heavy role play is what you need, I think there's probably a place or two to get hooked up with it through these forums

Hope to run into you in game

Boy, I wish I had but no, I am not so amazing. My gratitude goes to cushart from deviantART for creating this beautiful piece of art.

Over the next short while, I will be perusing this site like mad!

Hope so!
