VonSchlichten Posted September 19, 2013 Share #1 Posted September 19, 2013 G'day everyone! I am RHcrow! Avid Roleplayer! But you can call me VonSchlichten since it's what I go by in RP situations. --MMORPG background I've been playing a variety of MMOGs for the past decade and a half casually RPing if the game felt like it. However I really didn't start true RP until a few years ago. The mmos I spent the most time in are as follows: Dark Age of Camelot (Casual RP) WoW (RP) Pirates of the Burning Sea (RP) Eve Online (Heavy RP and PVP) --RP experience I consider myself an "immersionist". It is what us heavy RPers in Eve would coin ourselves. That is the way I enjoy playing, 100% IC. I tend to avoid OOC chat as much as possible. My first big dive into heavy RP was on a minecraft server called Lord of the Craft. The server operates on a 100% RP policy and was my first true headfirst experience into immersive roleplaying. Fast forward two years later, I've gotten the joy of creating vast story arcs, impressive characters, and helped shape the world of LotC through RP. Also I've become privy to avoiding such characters such as Mary Sues and Gary Stus. Flaws and shortcomings make characters interesting, not perfection. --Character ideas/info Ever since my first "real" MMO, Dark age of Camelot back in 2002, I've been playing as various members of the VonSchlichten family, a House my brother and I created back for Dungeons and Dragons. To this day, about 10 people RP as various members of the VonSchlichten family on Lord of the Craft and other games. Outdated VonSchlichten Lore [Taken from LOTC][Archived]: History of House VonSchlicthen House VonSchlicthen is a long standing (traditionally arcane) House residing in the our skirts of Winterfell. The beginnings of the house start with Reinhardt the I over 600 years ago . Reinhardt was one the first humans in the north to manifest arcane powers. Many were impressed with his magical skills which he used to help protect his neighbors from dangers. Although he was not the only sorcerer in the north, he was easily the most skilled. News of Reinhardt's powers spread throughout the land and caught the attention of a Sorceress from the south named Cassandra. One day she traveled to the north to seek this fellow arcane wielder. She found him in the local tavern but what she did not expect was his charm. The two quickly became friends while exploring the limits of arcane power together. The two fell in love and built a small cabin in a redwood forest in the north. The House would produce some of the most skilled sorcerers and mages through the generations Aegis ever did see. All making great contributions to academia and the kingdoms. VonSchlichten children would be tutored by their parents in magic. Learning basic charms and incantations. When the child would reach adulthood he would have the choice to walk the path of magic or to abandon it. With the siphoning of magical power from the mortal realm, the 6th generation VonSchlichtens to the 10th (present) possess little magic skill beyond simple charms and illusions. Just an echo to the arcane glory of previous generations. Rumors say some members of house are close to rediscovering the secrets of raw arcane power. --How did you learn about the coalition? I am a longtime FF fan. Some of the GMs on LOTC were talking to me about FFXIV and got me interested in it. They pointed me toward he coalition to continue my RP antics while enjoying the world of Ezorea. --What kind of a role-player are you aiming to be? Light, medium, or heavy? Heavy Ideally I prefer 100% IC chat. OOC chat tends to just pull you away from any state of immersion. I like to RP every moment I am logged in, not just put on a RP Mask for events but keep my OOC Mask on 90% of the time. I've been in many RP guilds that have OOC Guild chat and a special RP chat channel. Nobody would ever use the RP channel and keep it OOC. On the converse, I've been in many fantastic guilds where nobody ever breaks character. All OOC chat is done via tells or a third party program. RP flows and multiple events and parties kept people excited and involved. When people werent RPing in game, there would be forum RP with heir characters. This is the type of environment I'd look to call home again. Any 100% RP FCs or Linkshells I would love to be a part of. Link to comment
