Naunet Posted October 22, 2013 Share #1 Posted October 22, 2013 Shot in the dark, but I really wanted to get myself an mp3 of the distorted version of "Answers" that played up to the shut down of 1.0. It used to be up on youtube, but Squeenix apparently hates free advertising. Does anyone happen to have a copy of the file? I would love you forever. Link to comment

I still kick myself for missing the last two camps I needed in the shroud to have mapped the realm.. Link to comment
Naunet Posted October 22, 2013 Author Share #3 Posted October 22, 2013 Ah, that is awesome! I had managed to find this... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C5EPSxNlyNA&feature=youtu.be&t=59m5s But the size is far too large to convert and I have no idea how to chop up the video so it's only Dalamud's Answer. The quality is a bit clearer in that one, so if I could figure out a way to work it... *saves your link just in case* Link to comment

Olofantur Posted October 22, 2013 Share #5 Posted October 22, 2013 A note on the quality for the video I linked, make sure to turn HD on, it'll up the bit rate, but yes, its not the best. Good luck in your search. Link to comment
Olofantur Posted October 22, 2013 Share #6 Posted October 22, 2013 Holy crap, wow. That's really unsettling... It was a beautiful time. SE did what arguably many would have balked at, they turned the failure and the desire to rebuild into a story line itself. Link to comment

Wow. Seriously gives me an even deeper appreciation for this (these?) game. Link to comment

Gharen Posted October 24, 2013 Share #10 Posted October 24, 2013 One thing you can do if ripping it right off youtube isn't an option. Is to DL the program Audacity, and download the MP3 encoder plugin if that's what you're wanting to do. http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ http://audacity.sourceforge.net/help/faq_i18n?s=install&i=lame-mp3 Once you've done that. Set the recorder to "What I hear" make sure the youtube vid is set the HQ hit record and press play. Anything piped through your machine will get captured. Once it's done, save, convert, and trim the ends if needed, editing is pretty simple. Once you're done make sure you change "what I hear" back to it's original setting then go to file, and exit. Otherwise if you use TS or some other voice program you send your game sounds to the people you're talking to.. it's an annoying little side effect Audacity has. Link to comment
Tobias Nightbringer Posted October 24, 2013 Share #11 Posted October 24, 2013 Good GODS I had no idea how haunting and beautiful that backdrop of the Dalamund Answers that Olofantur posted is. Like there isn't really a lot of lyrics/instruments but I've been hitting that replay Link to comment

Olofantur Posted October 25, 2013 Share #13 Posted October 25, 2013 Damn what a way to end it. Pretty cool and slightly creepy video too. Happy to help Tobias, And I agree Haven, it was creepy, if you care I'll describe a bit of what the world was like (for me) during the closing weeks. A bit of setting I played 1.0 on Sarganates since Beta and while the game did have many flaws, I enjoyed it, it reminded me of Everquest, the world was large, with many secrets, when Yoshi-P took over it felt like the ball was rolling in the right direction. I enjoy 2.0 no doubt, but 1.0 Thanalan had many cave systems that existed for no more reason than people like me to venture through (or atleast thats what it felt like at the time). The Black Mage story line at the time had you sneaking past monsters much higher level than you could reasonably fight (70~ iirc.) But anyways. The moon had been glowing red from some days now, I had always made a point of checking it as I wandered in my daily quest from Black brush to Halatali, which was a camp at the time. The maps were vast and the journey, was long, but interesting, I always made a point of skirting around the high grounds. I only first noticed it when the citizens of Ul'dah began to comment on it, usually too immersed in my own business to observe the celestial bodies. (you can see them in the back ground http://www.ffxivinfo.com/images/screenshots/ffxiv-652.jpg and here is a map of all Thanalan http://www.ffxivinfo.com/images/maps/ffxiv-maps-thanalan.jpg ) As time passed I noticed Garlean air ships, small groups, maybe two or three pass over head. I was first made aware of their presence by the deep groaning of their passage, catching me by surprise as I exited one of the caves mentioned before. The sun was blinding, white washing for a moment, but they hung there, high above churning onward to the north. They moved with purpose, and many speculated on it, it took days to determine and prove, communicating with colleagues in the Shroud and Vylbrand to find they were all moving towards a central point. I'd like to make a point that this drew a lot of people to different places, at least that I observed. There was (for me) little reason to explore the areas outside of Thanalan, it held everything one might need, I would visit the cities perhaps occasionally, but rarely made a point of exploring the lands around them beyond express need. In my curiosity a few comrades and I followed the airships northward from Camp Black Brush one day, finding them passing even beyond our reach. Mor Dhona was a different place at the time, filled with Toads and Hydras far overpowering anything but the strongest of groups, and the rewards were minimal, most people simply skirted by. We had killed The Primals, the Good king, Even Nael in his insanity was nearly brought low though we never were able to deal the final strike. But the world began to change in those days, The stones scattered about Eorzea, perhaps you know them in their dormant form, began to glow, illuminating and drawing people towards them, I made a pilgrimage to Halone in honour of my sister. Thaliak as well, and Nald'Thal within the Ossuary and Sacrarium (which was still open at the time.) The sky was filled with the aurora borealis regardless of the day. As time passed the whole world became bathed in a faint red glow, the moon casting its shadow on us. Like my Garlean goggles had tinted the world. Time passed, the moon grew slowly, or at least that’s what some felt. Others, a certain detective in La Noscea had a differing ideal, but he vanished due to some circumstances I won't divulge. Then things accelerated, like a disease entering its final stages the warping of Eorzea quickened, the Aether became tainted, appearing yellow and spewing forth voidsent. A great Demon floated above them unlike anything known at the time that seemed impervious. I still have an unaspected void crystal from the time. Normal Aetherytic crystals that had been drained by the Demon who seemed fixated on the Aether networks. Much happened in the intervening days, its hard to capture it all. Ul'dah was a different place, the main gates had always been closed requiring the use of the side doors, but in the final moments, when the Garleans made their assault on the great city? Even the gates that, up to that time had held back the Amalj'aa buckled. War was upon us, and the fights were brutal. ((EDIT: threw together a small album of 1.0 Screen shots, I have tons :< http://imgur.com/a/MukMd )) I can hardly do it justice, but that is a glimpse of what it was like for me. A combination of frustration, fighting against a fate that seemed inevitable, but also exhilarating, the land was changing, we were changing. I fought for Eorzea, and with those memories, I fight even harder now, in fact its what inspired my signature tag. 1 Link to comment

Olofantur Posted October 26, 2013 Share #15 Posted October 26, 2013 Gonna piggyback on this thread.. Anyone have a youtube link of the music that plays when you fight Titan? I can't find it anywhere Hello Teuto, Currently the only FFXIV soundtrack available offically is for 1.0 named "Before Meteor" and Squeenix is very active in removing copy righted content. (part of the reason the one I linked hasn't been taken down is the host is very active as well in arguing fair use terms, but thats another issue.) If like me you are okay with a certain moral Grey area, you can find a Rip of the BETA sound files with a whole host of things buried in it. I won't link directly to it, but I can say ( http://lmgtfy.com/?q=FFXIV+ARR+OST+Torrent ). I don't intend that sarcastically although the link is usually used that way. Hope that helps!
