Gerick Posted September 6, 2010 Share #1 Posted September 6, 2010 I'm trying to get my PS3 controller to work as a gamepad for my PC so I can try it out in game. The problem is I can't calibrate it or get it to work but it is recognized by the computer. I'm running Vista 64 bit. I hope that's not he problem. Any ideas on what I can do? If anyone could recommend a good cheap gamepad that would be just as good Link to comment
Tadir Posted September 6, 2010 Share #2 Posted September 6, 2010 Frankly, for a cheap gamepad I always recommend a ps2 controller. If you can find the adapter, it used to cost 12 dollars. If you don't have a ps2 controller they cost about 10. I've been told the adapter isn't sold anymore, which would be unfortunate. Why don't you want to get the ps3 one working? Link to comment
Gerick Posted September 6, 2010 Author Share #3 Posted September 6, 2010 Just grabbed a wireless adapter that lets me use my 360 controller with the PC so we will see how that works. Link to comment
Gerick Posted September 6, 2010 Author Share #4 Posted September 6, 2010 Lol just wasted 2 hours with microsoft tech support just to find out it only works on XP even though it says Vista/7 compatible. Good Job Microsoft. Link to comment
Noelle Posted September 6, 2010 Share #5 Posted September 6, 2010 I use "DS3 tool" for my ps3 pad. So i can play fighting games on my pc, works a treat. Also seems to be compatable with xbox pads. Link to comment
Gerick Posted September 7, 2010 Author Share #6 Posted September 7, 2010 Alright I give up. The xbox thing doesn't work and I couldn't get Motioninjoy/d23 tool to work. Vista 64 bit sucks Link to comment
Freyar Posted September 7, 2010 Share #7 Posted September 7, 2010 I used to use MotionJoy for FFXI, but with FFXIV being able to use all of the axis properly, there's no reason to subject myself to the pain that is trying to make it work every boot. In the end, I use a wired 360 controller. Works perfectly, no batteries, has vibration and supports current games as well, no question asked. Link to comment

The wired 360 controller should. Considering it's in effect what Windows 7 is (on the gaming front), it should be fine. Wireless controllers are the problem. Link to comment

Just caved in and bought a wired one at my local 24 hour Mejeir. It seems to work. Now to test it in FFXiV once I get it patched. Link to comment

Don't forget to map the controls in the config tool FIRST. Wired 360 controllers are my favorite, simply because they are a no-brainer for current games. They do have problems with older ones that can't recognize the right stick and triggers though. Link to comment

But here's the video you should watch Yeah I saw that video before but still couldn't getting working for some reason. This wired Xbox controller works great though. I enjoy that over the ps3 anyways, plus I can use it for GTA4 so I can actually drive properly on the pc version. Link to comment
