Long time lurker, first time poster :)

Recommended Posts

Hello all, Mimsy here. :3

I'm a long time luker, first time poster and thought it was time to actually register!

I'm new to Final Fantasy 14, but have played other MMO'S such as WoW, FF11, Aion, Age of Wushu and Tera Online. Right now I'm just playing FF14 and WoW, as the others are pretty quiet as far as server population goes on the EU ones. And er...Tera has no walk button. *sobs in a corner*

I've had some RP experience, mainly on forums and instant messenger. I have done some WoW rp on my server Argent Dawn, but I often found it hard to join in with as many people would stay in close groups and were rather elitist if you tried to join in, which kind of put me off trying for a while as I'm often a bit shy. 14 wise I've not had a chance to RP as I've been playing my main on Ragnarok and I don't think many RP on there, I've certainly not seen any!

So far on Balmung I just have my Wildwood, an Arcanist called Delanaux Guillaume. I've not got too much info on him yet, mainly just his personality and a little on his back story. I'm not 100% on the Lore of the Elezan right now, so I don't want to say too much and find out it doesn't work. At the moment Del has travelled to Limsa hoping to catch up with his elder brother. He's the youngest of three and often seeks to prove himself as capable as his brothers.

I found out about this site when searching online for an unofficial RP server and have been lurking for a while, but only just decided to join recently, finally having the gall to do so.

RP wise, I'd say I lean more toward light to medium role play, depending on the situation. There are times where I might be out of character, such as in a dungeon or if I'm simply on for the sole purpose of gaining some levels, but generally I will keep in character. I'm not amazing at Role play on MMO's, but I love meeting new people, learning from and about others and look forward to meeting people in game. I really enjoy RP and I'd love a chance to try it in an MMO properly and gain some RP contacts. As I say, I am new to the server, but if you'd like to get in contact, feel free to message me.

Welcome to the RPC! *highfive*

I too found it hard to get into roleplaying on WOW with how the community acted. I have yet to run into that here (please don't jinx it), everyone is so welcoming which is a nice change of pace. Most of my MMO roleplay experience comes from Tera online actually. *shakes fist angrily at not having a walk feature* I played a high elf priest named Caslian mostly, not sure if you ever saw me around.

I wish I had some helpful links to give you about Elezen but, unfortunately, I don't. I'm always open for unofficial roleplay if you want to test run your personality (or anything else really) though. I'll stalk--I mean... Find you in game. :3

And you thought we WEREN'T elitist? Scoff... I have no idea where you got that idea from... Scoff scoff scoff...

But in all seriousness, welcome to the forums! It's nice to see another player who played on Argent Dawn in World of Warcraft on here. Now, the all important question. Alliance or Horde? As for the other games, I cannot say I have touched Age of Wushu (is it any good?) though the other games you have played are all decent in their own fields and rite. In short, RIGHT ON!

Further from what Rinette said, I've taken the liberty of preparing a couple of links to help you get to grips with the Elezen race and their lore (should it take your fancy):

http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/wiki/index.php?title=Category:Elezen

Our own wiki. Yeah, we're that cool.

http://ffxiv.wikia.com/wiki/Elezen

You guessed it, the FFXIV wiki.

http://ffxiv.gamerescape.com/wiki/Elezen

A handy little page on GamerEscape about the Elezen. Ignore the first paragraph because it appears in both other links. Lore Part 1 & 2 are unique to this page, I believe. :3

OF COURSE! With games like FFXIV, what with each citystate having it's own varied groups of citizens of all races, you are by no means bound by lore when you RP. You could, for example, be an Elezen pirate from a foreign land where it just so happens everyone in said land wears pink, come to Eorzea seeking adventure and riches. Though, unless you want some of the more hardcore RP groups to chase you out of Gridania with pitchforks and torches, it's recommended you take at least a tiny bit of lore to heart in your character. Helps the flow of RP, y'know?

I'm sure you'll be bombarded with other helpful links, so fear not! And once more, welcome to the forums! I hope you enjoy your stay. :D

Oh awesome! Thanks Asgarn! I had a little look on another FF wiki but it didn't have much lore on the Elezen and I didn't want to start rolling out a history and then realise it wasn't en-keeping to lore to a point. xD As far as Age of Wushu goes, it's quite enjoyable as a free MMO, though a tad confusing and, once again, quiet server wise. I don't think I've spoken to anyone on it yet!

Rinette I am amazed you found RP on Tera! I was on the EU servers, don't know about you, but they were so, so quiet. I do have a US copy of Tera now as well, but I just can't handle having no walk button. I'm so lame! T_T

I love that RPC has it's own wiki and that people can create pages on it for characters. Mayhaps something I'll look into if I manage to settle down here. :)

Thank you for the welcomes everyone, I really appreciate it :3

TERA's lack of a walk button (and a lot of other things) was heartbreaking. Welcome, I'm glad you decided to step out of the shadows of lurkdom! Feel to say hello if you see me around in game! :D

I'm so glad that the lack of walk button is something others were disappointed with too! I actually love the look of Tera but just...that walk button. I just... T_T

Hm, odd question but do you need to have a certain post count on the forum to create a wiki page and such? I'm just looking at ways to get my character out there and so on.

Thank you for the greetings everyone! :3

Yep, yep, yep. I was on Darkmoon Faire but transferred to AD after the RP there dried up and it was so hard to break into it. Luckily that's not the case in XIV!

By the by, I just thought I'd mention some of the EU communities on Balmung: Europa is an OOC/LFRP linkshell, The Travellers Guild is an RP free company and Eorzean Union is an endgame PVE free company, all playing during EU peak times. Also be sure to check out the Bronze Lake Resort; it's also EU timed and a great way to meet new people.

Welcome to the RPC and hope you enjoy your stay!

I must say the lack of a walk button was also a deal breaker on TERA for me. I wanted to RP a tubby cat man... :< (And no. I refuse to roleplay a Miqo'te. Roegadyn at heart!) Still, I tried to just play TERA for it's PvE and PvP content but a game without roleplay is like a gamer without fingers. POSSIBLE, but incredibly more difficult. :|

And, as others have said, no post requirement to use the wiki! Feel free to put your character up their whenever you like. (Is say this and not "ASAP" because I have been meaning to do just that for weeks now. ONE DAY!)
