TLDR bullet points: + Event cost 2000 gil to sign up for, funds go to Driftwood housing. +You will be paired up with a random someone else and sent on a date to a random destination at a time that is good for both of you. There is not a set day or location all dates take place. +The event is for comedy and meeting new people. Some dates will be bad on purpose for humor. Sign up for humor or just to meet new people. +Surveys will ask IC and OOC questions about preferences. IC surveys may be ignored for comedy. OOC survey, that is sent after, will be treated seriously. Put requests you want taken seriously on OOC survey. +PM me surveys and questions. Except good look finding them because I am a professional “Docteur de l'amour” (that means “love doctor” if you weren’t sure) and doctors don’t give out information on their patients. But a docteur de l'amour like myself isn’t happy unless everyone else is and this is a particularly heart-breaking season for me when I see so many people going without romance. Let’s fix that! They say love is blind, right? Well… THIS MONTH: SO IS YOUR DATE. I mean you’re going on a blind date, not that I am setting you up with the visually impaired. Though I can if you want. OOC INFO AND EXPANDED EVENT INFORMATION This is not a Driftwood Coast exclusive event. It's open for everyone! Hi, guys! I have an official start date for an RP event that I am running. And it's already begun so sign up! ^__^ While this is a Driftwood Coast housing fund event, it's also a really great way for you to meet someone new, randomly determined, to RP with that you might not have otherwise met as well as a specific environment and cause for the encounter (that your characters can then use as the catalyst for conversation) Xifang is a lazy troublemaker so there is a 50/50 chance you'll get set up on a great date or you'll get set up on a lousy one. DA page here: http://sing-sei.deviantart.com/ DATE EVENT F.A.Q!! Q: Can I just show up on the day of the event to sign up? A: Nope. There is no "day of the event". This event goes through February. Each customer gets signed up for a date time and place individually. It will be different for all people involved. Q. Why does it cost money? A. Several reasons. First, the money goes to the housing fund. Second, it let's us know how popular the event is. Three, paying money makes it more likely that those who sign up will show up to their dates. The event doesn't work if lots of people get stood up and I don't want that to be a risk. Q. I am in your Free Company. Can't I just donate the money directly to Driftwood Coast if I am a member and not pay for the event? A. I won't be doing pair ups until I have notice of the money from people. I'm not going to track every 2000 gil donation into the FC Chest. If you pay me or Kyndle (preferably Kyndle) I will know that it is the sign up fee for the event and know that I can start pairing you. Q. My character wouldn't do this, but I really want to do it. How do I make that work? A. I am optimistic that we can find a way. The event is mostly for comedy, but also just for a new venue and a catalyst for RP. Ask someone to sign you up behind your character's back. Sign your character up yourself, but OOC. If you want to sign your character up for the event OOCly tell me that in a PM and bypass the IC survey if you like. This is a fun opportunity to get characters behaving mischievously by signing their friends up or by putting their own characters in an awkward situation. Q. Can I sign up a character without asking the player? A. No. If the player might not like you doing this, do not do it. Characters behaving badly is fun, but it's not fun to do something to a player that they would not appreciate. Q. My character wouldn't do this. I agreed to be signed up but I'm not going to go to the date. Is that Ok? A. No, not really, because that is discourteous to the person you are paired with. If you do not think your character will go to the event at all, please do not sign up. Q. Is this actually a cafe or a doctor's office? I saw art that looked like it. A. No. That art was just silly P.R. of Crimson in different costumes so I could make puns about "love". There is no one location for the event. Q. Can I be specific about who I want to be paired up with? A. Yes. If you are specific on the IC Survey, Crimson will likely ignore it. If you are specific on the OOC survey that I send you, I will consider it. If the two of you have already decided you want to RP ending up on a blind date together and both of you say as much on the OOC survey, I will make that happen. I like to imagine I am a nicer person than my character. Q. Can I pick race, age, gender, height, hair color, etc of my potential date? A. Read above. If it is put on the IC survey, Crimson is not likely to pay attention.... If it is on the OOC survey I will try to keep it in mind, but you may be disappointed. I can only pair you with the people who sign up. I can't guarantee that level of specificity. You can always help by getting that perfect someone to sign up with you.... Q. What is the love consultation? A. If you pay 5,000 gil instead of the standard 2,000 gil, you can sign up for Xifang or one of her love assistants to meet you in game for RP. They will give you advice on how to go on a date and general romance tips. It's possible it'll be good advice! It's also fairly likely it'll be very silly, bad advice. That money also goes to the housing fund. Q. I am not in Driftwood Coast. Why should I do this? A. This is an opportunity to RP with someone new and meet someone new. If you do the consultation, you might meet several new people to RP with. By signing up, you're helping to make more RP connections on Gilgamesh. That's a noble and worthy cause! SURVEY QUESTIONS (After I receive the answers to this In Character Survey, I will send you an Out of Character one with 4 simple questions that mainly deal with what you want from the event and what your availability is) SURVEY IN CHARACTER 1) What 3-7 adjectives would you use to describe yourself? 2) What 3-7 adjectives would you use to describe your perfect someone? 3) What 3-7 adjectives would you use to describe the exact opposite of your perfect someone? 4) What is your favorite color? 5) What is your favorite number? 6) Sexual Preference? I’m talking: male or female, here, pervert. Leave the kinky stuff out for now…unless it’s funny. 7) 3 favorite locations? I’m talking geographical places you like to hang out in, pervert. Leave the kinky stuff out for now…unless it’s funny. 8) Do you like kids? Why/why not? 9) Do you like chocobos? Why/why not? No, actually, just why? 10) Briefly describe your appearance and color of clothes you might wear on a blind date. It's not something he'd sign up for on his own, but the RP should be greatly entertaining! Today will be the day. Get involved! If not for the playful romance, then for the sheer comedy! I was surprised by that (was I inspiration at all?). It sounds really cool too. It looks like they have a ball + date roulette thing going on if you want to check it out. Balmung does indeed have its own date roulette happening (looks as if we arrived at the same idea at roughly the same time. Our posts were a day apart. ). So if you have a character you want to sign up or a friend you want to sign up, it's gotta be in by the 10th! I'll need your IC survey and 2000 gil by then. PM me if you are having trouble getting the gil or survey in to me. After you fill out the IC survey I will send 4 OOC questions to you that I need answered that just talks about what YOU, the player, want to get out of the date! It's easy! ^__^ We have a number of people signed up now, but the event will work better if even more of you sign up! Link to comment
