I debated putting this in my other Seeking thread, but decided it would be less cluttered if I just put this in here since it's a more focused subject.

 

Anyway! I've finally decided that Rae's former mentor (Laiat) delved in many side businesses, one of those being a Bookie. Taking bets on different, smaller events or hiring himself out to groups hosting larger events that needed someone to keep everything organized. So Rae wants to try her hand at it.

 

He left behind a ledger with names, money amounts owed, little notes, etc. So I'm seeking characters that might have a betting streak- ones that pay on time, some that might be in debt, etc - that would have used Laiat.

 

I'm also looking for contacts in general for her, people Laiat would have been in touch with, those who host such betting events on the small scale or the large scale- or are seeking to establish one. For those looking to start up maybe some smaller things I do have a couple ideas that could be fun if done properly!

I LOVE the idea.  I don't have a character that would fit that bill, but honestly making that sort of circle would be fun. 

 

...bit of a shame the Wolves' Den doesn't have a spectator mode.  That'd be an absolutely easy way for a bookie to be made.

 

Perhaps someone out there could arrange some chocobo races? There are more than a few areas on the world map that would operate quite like a circuit.  Hmm...I'll have to look into this.

That would be awesome if it did! I was thinking about chocobo races , that seems like it would be a big thing in the betting world. That and fighting rings most likely.

 

However yes! I think it would be a lot of fun if enough people wanted in on it

I've been devoting a lot of thought on how to pull together a series of chocobo races.  Seems like running the circuits through enemy territory would provide potential for people to be knocked off of their mounts, which can answer the problem of having every mount run at the same speed...maybe?

 

I dunno. The logistics of such a thing is both exciting and daunting...

That would make sense~ Depending on the levels of all the particpants, set it in an area where there's potential for some mobs to aggro at least to give some chase . I would total love helping you set something up if that's something you'd be interested in doing ^-^

People would just wear the horse helmets! Or unicorns. Horse helmets for slaves indentured servants I mean er...

 

Yeah T_T Except they're bigger. And differently barded chocobo would hurt more. (Ul'dahn crested barded things have horns on top!) Granted if these fights and races are sketchy most people won't care if that's also a thing.

But we can use that "idea" so we can create illegal one , we just need arcanists and 2 or more carbuncles to send killing each other

Hey there! If it's a lot of scrupulous activities and wagers then I think it is more than cohesive with my FC's storyline. We are called the Crew of The Esquire, we are "Pirate Mediators" (think of us as lawyers for Pirates, sounds weird but we make it work)

 

So far we've dealt with syndicate Pirate RPers, Syndicate RPers, and the like and getting into organized betting seems right up our alley.

 

I also like the idea of Carbuncle fighting turned into a illegal league.

 

I'd love to RP with you folks if you'd have me...

I just felt that I should mention that Equilibrium has been working on Chocobo Races. We've mapped out a few courses already around some areas, trying to add a few obstacles that could slow down riders by them getting stuck. We figured we'd start with a few smaller, low level area courses and then work up to some more challenging ones.

 

The event got put on the back burner because of Christmas and then work and classes caught up that we kind of forgot. But if there is interest we can certainly take up the event again and get something going soon.

Honestly, chocobo races would be awesome to see...so I would definitely urge you to try to pick that back up if at all possible.  And if there's something I can do to help, I'm willing.  :3

Not to sorta derail the thread but speaking of chocobo races... how do you determine how many are judging/refereeing? I assume there would be some to ensure that proper course is maintained (Depending on path and routes what if person goes through this or that tree area that isn't in the course)
