Old School Monk Posted March 29, 2014 Share #1 Posted March 29, 2014 Heya! Took me forever to register because I couldn't get past the question section. Attempt 1: Something something healing magic something something job? Answer: Monk Incorrect! Attempt 2: Something something movie something something moon? Answer: Monk Incorrect! Attempt 3: Something something elemental magic something something damage? Answer: Monk Incorrect! Attempt 4: Something something pick any job? Answer:Monk Correct! I'm nothing if not persistent! I transferred to Balmung recently in hopes of getting into a RP FC/LS. Loved the people I met in my first attempt, but sadly they're just way too casual for what I'm looking for, so I was hoping someone here might help point me in the right direction. I tried to start searching through the lists available, but it's pretty hard to get a read on a group that way. I'm mainly interested in finding an active RP group that strives for IC interaction in most(Doesn't have to be all the time. This isn't FFXI where you could keep up good IC conversation nearly the entire time thanks to the more leisurely pace of combat.) aspects of the game. Also, being able to do level 50 content is a big point for me, and I wouldn't want to join a free company that isn't committed to, and capable of, moving forward in the game. --MMORPG background I played FFXI from Rise of the Zilart through Treasures, then took a break for about a year to focus on grad school. I picked it up again with the release of Wings of the Goddess on a casual level until I left the country that summer. To establish credentials, I did Sky/Sea/Dynamis, and cleared things like CoP and the Ark Angels back when they were hard. I could punch with the best of 'em! I briefly played WoW while overseas, but I couldn't really get into it. --RP experience For the majority of my playtime in FFXI I was in a very active RP Linkshell that stayed in-character most of the time. I served as an officer for a good chunk of that time, but drifted away from it due to drama and frustration over inability to do end-game content. I love role-playing, but I got tired of carrying people that were unprepared and ill-equipped through difficult fights so they could sit and talk to one another in newer, prettier areas. --Character ideas/info I'm very much a supporting character type of role-player. The only time I like being the center of attention is briefly for a well-timed joke or for a good performance following a battle. I'm perfectly happy letting other people drive things forward and give their characters the spotlight so long as things don't break lore too much. For my part, I always make a history to flesh out my characters and learn their personality and thoughts, but am not very quick to reveal such things. My characters aren't likely to have a tragic past, but even if they did, others wouldn't hear of it any time soon. With FFXIV you've got a good history of conflict with the Empire and the Beastmen, so I'm keen to play up the Grand Company side of things. Likely the cliched, blase soldier type. Someone who has a job to do and is happy doing it. It works well in mmos, and I don't have to bring much drama or angst to the table that way. I'm also a big talker. I wanna be talking and interacting with others IC as much as I can while doing stuff. Otherwise I'd be playing a single-player game or doing free-form rp in a chat room somewhere. --How did you learn about the coalition? Google. --What kind of a role-player are you aiming to be? Light, medium, or heavy? Heavy. I'd really appreciate it if anyone could steer me in the direction of some groups that might like to have me! Thanks very much for reading! Link to comment

Koninbeor Posted April 3, 2014 Share #3 Posted April 3, 2014 I don't understand how Monk was the incorrect answer to any of those questions. I think someone graded you far too harshly. Welcome aboard! Link to comment
