Aiouxdaux Posted October 10, 2014 Share #26 Posted October 10, 2014 Aioux kept an eye on the children, he was a paranoid man. His gentle smile grew as he saw the children snatching buns instead of purses and spouting polite phrases as opposed to curses. He however was mostly focused on Verad, "Are you still selling junk? Why not sell something of quality? There's a certain satisfaction in producing something of quality and knowing it's GOOD." Link to comment
Antain Posted October 10, 2014 Share #27 Posted October 10, 2014 Vaughn frowned at the other blonde elezen. Well, this new one was a rude one. Almost defiant, he turned to Verad. "I'll take a look, if you have more with you." He glanced at the woman and the children with a faint smile, though still suspicious of the little ones. "I'm sure there's plenty you have that's of good quality." He looks back up to Jaques with a smile, nudging him as the Duskwight's scowl returns. "And who knows. Maybe you'll find something you like?" He almost taunts, "♪Sweetrolls...♪" Link to comment
DreamedReality Posted October 11, 2014 Share #28 Posted October 11, 2014 Jaques had always been one of those shoppers that always went out with a particular list of items and rarely deviated from purchasing from said list. And not really needing anything at the moment he only vaguely listened as Verad produced the gil-onna-chain. His disinterest in the item more than apparent. Vaughn was the one that preferred to browse. He keeps his amber gaze largely on their surroundings and idly watches Lili hand out roll after roll and the children scamper back off once they'd gained their prize. Their looks of pure delight, as they take large bites... he finds himself lost in his own memories. Brought back to the present by Vaughn's nudge and singsong voice his brow furrows a touch more and he scratches his beard, not entirely certain what he'd missed. He just answers the question, "Ah... perhaps?" As he notices Vaughn's vague frown to his reaction he adds, "Doesn't hurt to look." Vaughn seemed to be enjoying himself and he shouldn't ruin it. That and being caught daydreaming down an ally, even one as major as Pearl Lane, was a sure way to get knifed the back. He looks to Verad, "What else do you have?" Link to comment
Verad Posted October 14, 2014 Share #29 Posted October 14, 2014 He tried very hard to keep the twitch in his eye out of his face when Vaughn mentioned good quality. "I can almost certainly assure you that I do not," he replied with no hint of a strain in his voice. "And, even if you did happen to quite accidentally find something of quality within my stock, I maintain a policy of refunds and exchanges for any unfortunately non-dubious items with proof of purchase." What that might be, precisely, he didn't say. This was normal. Gil-on-a-chain was never a top seller for some reason. Something about defacing perfectly good currency, especially in Ul'dah, made people take offense. Strange, he thought, it was just a coin. One he relentlessly pursued, but even then, a coin all the same. "As for what else," he said, turning brilliant green eyes back in Jaques' direction, "My stock is unfortunately limited after certain recent, ah, liquidations." He verbally hustled past that point. "But I can offer you my list of stock where it comes to scrap materials for artisans. Excellent for prototyping new designs as long as you don't mind those designs being flammable. Or perhaps you'd be interested in accepting some inferior art? Help a starving bad artist become adequate?" Link to comment
Delilah Scythewood Posted October 15, 2014 Author Share #30 Posted October 15, 2014 Gradually the children began to disperse from Lili as her rolls began to dwindle. She had managed to feed all the little ones that came to her with a single roll left in her basket. She turned, moving silently over to the Elezen with a tilted head and curious expression on her features. The alley became oddly quiet without the clambering children, and seemed to hold no one else save the Elezen males and single Hyur woman. Feeling her work was done for the time being, Lili shifted the empty basket under her arm once more before moving towards Verad. "Starving artists did you say?" Her head tilted, curious as she idly nibbled on her lower lip. Such a horrid habit it was a wonder her lips were still in good condition. Link to comment
Aiouxdaux Posted October 19, 2014 Share #31 Posted October 19, 2014 Aioux winces. There he went again, selling dubious goods. He shrugs, a smile coming to his lips, "...mm, see? Nothing of quality, all completely dubious in nature. Still..." He glances around at all the children, "...it's good to see someone out here taking care of these children. I'd suggest taking one or two in, but I understand how hard the situation is on people these days. That's not feasible for most people." Link to comment
Antain Posted October 20, 2014 Share #32 Posted October 20, 2014 Vaughn looked at his book, then gripped it tight. He knew how hard it has been the last few cycles more than anyone, though his clothing suggested otherwise. And this Duskwight selling 'dubious' goods, whatever that means, was also trying to make it by in this unforgiving city. The other elezen that joined them just seemed to be harsh. And rude. It was unbecoming for someone to be speaking that way to... He shook his head, trying to get those thoughts out. Jaques kept telling him he was equal to all and to not think like that anymore. But who was equal in this situation? There was such a division that it was difficult to think anybody was equal to anybody else. There was still hierarchy. There is still a Master. Still, he forces a smile to the woman as she returned to them with an empty basket. "If you'd like, miss, I could help you make your next batch. Twice the rolls in half the time." Link to comment
DreamedReality Posted October 21, 2014 Share #33 Posted October 21, 2014 "What sort of scrap materials for artisans?" He asks before glancing to Aio. When the man commented about taking in children is jaw clenches and expression hardens before looking away. Finding other things to focus on such as how quiet the ally had become now that the children had dispersed. Link to comment
