Wyznwyta Seiksyn, member of The Guiding Light, studies somewhat of an eccentric field. A self-taught arcanist who, through his research, draw relations to the geometries used in arcanium to the descriptive geometry of the various building of Eorzea. He believes that the various ruins around Eorzea and to put it simply, the "spooky" feelings most people feel are a byproduct of the broken geometries and possible aetheric leaking. So, we are going on a tour, Wyznwyta doesnt need scholars, this preliminary step is more for surveying and gathering some data. Mostly going to be taking people around to points of interest and see what the reactions. Welcome to the club! Most are nervous messes at the beginning of it all. If you wanna take the leap tonight I'll be going to some public events tonight, send me a pm! I could rant about all sorts of stuff but the on the fly RP with both strangers and friends is really really thrilling, even if it's just the small interactions with hosts at events. Oh all of La Noscea's beautiful! I definitely need to think up an excuse to explore it some more. I think my favorite part of it would be all the comfy little fishing spots; there's hardly anything cozier in the game. Is your character a fisher? Did some say... fisher? Wyznwyta loves to fish though spends most of his time doing it alone. I know he couldn't use a fishing buddy. If you'd like to set something up PM me.

Wyznwyta is pretty gentle and understanding. Mostly one to try to keep a situation "right" and "resolved". Codependent to say the least. He is open to Mr right himself but isn't currently seeking anyone. We could always go explore some public events together if you'd like and see if our characters vibe.

I was in pretty much the same predicament as you, although I never RP'd. If you wish please message me and I can teach you about the game and we can accompany each other to public events which, by the way, is probably the easiest way to find small role play among strangers. Wyznwyta is a scholarly type, and loves to fish hng, but he meshes well with most people so maybe we can figure something out.

If you're already willing to transfer I say 100% go to Balmung. I did it and have no regrets. If anything I wish I made a whole roster of characters to transfer over. (Mainly didn't since I was new to RP and unsure how much I'd like it but in hindsight I should've done it anyway). There are many many public events and people on Balmung willing to RP as I'm sure many of the people here will tell you. If you have any questions or need an RP partner feel free to pm me.

I'm also fairly new to RP but was able to get my toes wet. I'd love to RP with you and help you out. Your character can actually be quite useful to mine. Wyznwyta is a scholar and needs either an escort to dangerous areas and/or someone to do reconnaissance. If you're interested be sure to pm me and we can arrange something ASAP EDIT: I totally quoted the wrong thing WOOPS.

So I am not nearly as experienced as many of the people on this forum but I am willing to help in whichever way I can. When it comes to commands most people use say and /em. /em is, basically, substituted with your character's name followed by whatever text comes after that. For example, "/em nods in agreement." would come out as "Ezraek Wolfryn nods in agreement." So most the time if what they are saying opens with something descriptive people use /em unless they open with dialogue in which case they'll use "Say". Other commands of course involve emotes, some use the display log messages that default while using emotes as part of their RP or they toggle the display messages off and use the emotes and facial expressions to accent their RP. In cases with large public events there can so much going on that emotes can be missed. Anyway I can ramble about all I have learned but do send me a PM, we can RP together and/or I can help answer any questions.

As someone who was new to RP I just recently, this week, took my first forays into the whole thing. Once you have your general outline for your character I recommend taking them to some public events. There are a whole slew of them listed and you will stumble upon all sorts of people that you can talk to and sorta refine your character down. From there on you can consider hunting for a good free company that fits your character or a linkshell.

Rather than spam the thread with responses first let me just say thank you! Its overwhelming getting to see such friendly and welcoming faces as a newcomer. I am interested in all your offers! My schedule isn't terribly friendly but I would and most likely will PM you when I get the chance.

Thank you! I have seen these FCs thrown around a few times and I should probably take the leap. Its not unlike Wyznwyta to bite the bullet and join an organization such as these.

I have made a couple posts and stated each time regarding my lack of RP experience. I'm worried that aside from walk-ups and other things that other more established RPers may be hesitant to take a chance with me. Anyway, Wyznwyta is new to Eorzea and has little experience or knowledge of the land beside what he has gleaned from his books. He generally spends his free time alone fishing but is growing more restless as he hasn't had the chance to speak to anyone in a while. There is more info in his wiki but I feel he needs some sort of starting point to push him in one direction or another. Either someone feisty and talkative to contrast him or another quiet soul that he might find joy in quiet thought out conversations. Since nothing has happened as of yet there is a blank slate that I am trying to figure out. He isn't one to walk-up randomly so I would like to arrange some scenario to meet a friend, influence, stranger, could be anything. That or I will try hunting out and explore some of the taverns and inns among the Goblet and see what unfolds.

I'm new to RP but very well versed in FF14 itself. I started this character in Limsa so that's where you'll find me! It might be a good start for both of us in the scene if you wanted to meet up. I'll be around later tonight if your end interested. I think Nyx can bring out the more sociable aspects of Wyznwyta, he's a sucker for killing dead air to avoid silence and could probably bring Nyx out of her shell. Just a thought

Yes I made a post earlier, which I will likely delete due to it being outdated, but I coughed up the money so I could get arguably the best RP experience in FF14, Balmung! I have yet to log in and explore the towns but I just wanted to say I hope I see you all out there and as a new RPer that I dont crash and burn horribly. I may lurk for a day or two seeing how things go but if anyone wants to add me or finds me around feel free to walk up and say hello! Wyznwyta Seiksyn isn't much a people person but he does enjoy a good conversation. This wont be nearly as long winded, hope to see some of you around soon!

Thank you both so much! I'm gonna wait the three days and cough up the cash for the server transfer. Hopefully I can find a FC/Linkshell I feel my character fits in. For now though I'll do a bit of personal progression and development.

Yea I think I'll just bite the bullet on this one but after trying days to get in during slow times before/after maintenance with no luck I just had to make the character

Really wanted to get into Balmung if I was gonna RP but research shows Gilgamesh is also good, I think. Depending how this goes I may get a transfer reasoning and all that will be below. Anyway please be gentle with me. I'll do my best and fill out the welcome thingy --MMORPG background I was that kid who would play every darn mmo available on the internet with my friends. All the good and bad F2P and the only subscription mmo experience I have is with WoW and FFXIV. One has stuck and the other hasn't. I jumped into FFXIV around HW launch and fell off do to some finance issues and recently decided to come back. I've been playing it as a game the last month but am interested in making a new character and trying to RP. --RP experience Zero. Zilch. Nada. I have absolutely no personal experience and just have a strange overwhelming want to get into it on some level. Never had the friends who wanted to do it but now I'm trying to forge my own path, as melodramatic as it sounds. I'm unsure how well it will stick so I'd rather get into some big RP server and if I feel I must or Gilgamesh isn't for me I'll just cough up the cash to transfer to Balmung. --Character ideas/info Well well, this is the long one. I spent several days fleshing out a backstory and I probably shouldn't dump it all out here but anyway... Wyznwyta Seiksyn is a Sea Wolf and comes from family split between survival and flourishing through the fishing trade and the older and brash members who long for the piracy and glory of the past. Wyznwyta's family is by no means wealthy and is struggling due to the overwhelming fishing trade Limsa Lominsa has become both a curse and a boon. Wyznwyta, somewhat unfortunately, has been chosen more or less against his wishes to Limsa as his strange affinity for the arcane has given both sides of his family reason to send him off to fulfill their wishes of refining his trade and earning the family glory through the adventurers guild. His true passion lies with fishing although he has never been great at it. The quiet and calm it brings him from the constant clamor of his family is what he prizes most. Sent off to Limsa with tome and rod in hand he seeks to save his family through the refinement of his craft and holds a disdain for the adventurers/arcanists guild and only works through them for the Gil he can make through them to survive and support his ventures. As a character he is rather soft spoken and introverted and is quick to avoid conflict. He would much rather fix a situation than to understand it. Given his nature he often finds himself along the shore fishing by his lonesome. Perpetuated by his tendency to avoid people he thinks alone and longs for a friendship and a life better than he was dealt. *Wow that dragged on, my bad* --How did you learn about the coalition? The magical power of google. --What kind of a role-player are you aiming to be? Light, medium, or heavy? Medium hopefully. Mostly just being OOC when I have to during contact with non-roleplayers, etc. --Anything from real life you're comfortable with sharing? (Work, school, hobbies, etc) Im an architecture student so much of my time is dedicated to class and studio work. I play often late at night whenever I have the free time.
