1. Yee! Knew this place was a good find! Thanks all for the warm welcome. Looking forward to meeting each and every one of you in game. By the by...no one's seen my ship, have they?
2. "Well, this is fair embarrassing, let me tell you..." Captain Fortinbras Carlyle, everyone's (read, no one's) favorite "Perfectly Legitimate Businessman," is in something of a bind. Due to a few outrageous turns of fortune involving loaded dice, loaded firearms, marked cards, poor selection of friends, unsavory business deals, blockades that certainly weren't there yesterday, misplacement of certain governing documents, lawful seizure of same, and general rotten luck, the Fortune's Friend (insert editorial laugh here) has been seized, stolen, sold, and otherwise misplaced. Pursuant to that end, you might have heard rumors that the Cap and his wrench-wench Kellisto have been making subtle inquiries. These typically fall into one of three categories: 1) Fort and Kelli approach likely-looking individuals. Fort asks surreptitious questions about some shady character or another. Kelli blabs that the Cap doesn't know where his ship is. Fort dies a little inside. 2) Fort stares forlornly at a quay and starts to get misty. Kelli laughs at him. 3) Fort plasters posters in the seedier dives and hangabouts of ne'erdowells promising modest rewards for gossip. These may or may not be covered in glitter to attract attention. Have you seen me? Bronco-class Airship, answers to "Fortune's Friend." Last seen in the company of one (1) Declan Samartine, Elezen. Might have changed hands to one (1) Valriaut Samartine, same. Might've changed hands any number of times, frankly. Likely mistreated or wrapped up in unseemly dealings. -Sleek body-styling, suitable, but not necessarily for grey-market wealth redistribution concerns. -Dual-sweep Ceruleum drive (aftermarket) -Reinforced prow since "the incident" (aftermarket) -"Lady Luck" Figurehead - Absolutely no, and here I really must reaffirm, NO hidden compartments in the lower hold. I'm serious, guys. Information leading to the rediscovery, recognition, and recapture of the Fortune's Friend will be remunerated handsomely. Means Gil. Serious inquiries only, please. Fool me once... -Captain Fortinbras Carlyle
3. Fortinbras Carlyle smells like spiced rum and winter. Not sure how that makes me feel, honestly.
4. @Faye Thank you, thank you! Already feeling the love! @Warren You have quite a treasure there in that Horadric Cube... I try not ramble like Cain, but heavens know the man is a font of story. And in a weird way, I suppose that's what I aspire to. We'll see you out in the world!
5. Fort: "Honor and glory" boy decides that, as far as motivations go, "coin and cleavage" works just as well. Things go...poorly. Alternatively: Well, I failed out of the Naval academy. How hard can smuggling really be?
6. There's no rule on combining intro threads. Right? I didn't see one. Anywho, I'm Fort, and the other half of this thread is my long-time RP/writing/life partner, Kellisto. Now, generally we're alt-aholics (can't live without that alt-ahol), but considering the leveling process in this particular corner of the RP world, we're coming to the community with single characters. I'm playing a dashing scoundrel of a Highlander smuggler who's perhaps half as clever as he thinks he is. Kelli's playing a Seeker wrench-wench with a sweet-tooth that could founder a dreadnought. I'll spare Kellisto the ignominy of trying to tell you lovely people about her, but I'm not tired. Or Proud. So, with that in mind, I'm an old-hat DM from the days when Elf was a character class. I pen and paper as often as I can, because it keeps my crazy-stupid-marvelous writer brain limber...because characters that are actively working against you tend to make you pretty good at improvising. And that rather leads me to RP. I love collaborative story-telling, at the end of the day. And when I'm surrounded by a bunch of people who share that passion for telling a compelling story, I'm happy. This show has been on the road for years, and we might find a couple familiar faces among this crowd. We've done our share on SW:TOR, Guildwars 2, WoW, and ESO. If we seem familiar, we might be. So...let's see. What else do you need to know to put this random name into its appropriate slot in the ol' memory? I was a nationally ranked fencer in my college days, a bartender to afford fencing classes (and a fencing instructor to afford alcohol...), a modestly successful local rock star there for a minute, a military aviator, and now a happily-married father of two trying to beat my sword into a ploughshare on a small, sustainable family farm. I like the sound of old guitars, the taste of old whiskey, and the smell of old books. That ought to get us started. Let's make some magic.
