I was going to post something similar to Maeve. Before seeing this thread I hadn't heard of anything significant that made me feel any positive or negative inclinations towards the LS but this thread had me wondering. No one posted anything damning but the fast responses by multiple people would definitely have made me wary if I did have a problem with the LS. I definitely think Maeve post is worth several reads as well.

You should indicate a server.... I was going to be in a family until they decided abruptly to go to Balmung instead.... so now I have no family again. I am a Lalefell, Dunesfolk though.

As far as the first point: any link to more information on this? If the woodsin is an issue, how do characters coming on the cart surpass this? Second point: I guess I wasn't clear enough. My character met up with the retreating troops. I imagined the destruction at the battle field something that obliterated everything directly at the battlefield but could be seen for miles? third Point: That is a good point. The reasoning for the double move is to establish my character's brother's prowess with a sword (training with gladiators is implied) and further establish my character childishness (Not caring about the beastmen being exiled while only being focused on his own feelings. I didn't realize Ala Mhigo had bad blood with Eorzea... might have to modify it in this case unless I can find out more lore on how the elementals interact with newcomers (I didn't see too much of a mention of this when I played during Beta as a newcomer to the area).

I. Basic Info Characters: Primary character: Rukruksti Merchand Linkshells:None Yet II. RP Style I tend to vary from Heavy RP ( I consider myself bound by the Lore) but I want to do RP v E, ie I want to do end-game content while RP'ing.

I'm not sure if there is a spot for this, if this is not allowed or in the wrong place, I apologize. I know there is a place for posting characters but I don't see anyplace that readily discusses lore. I like making characters that follow the lore and I'm not very comfortable with FF14 lore yet(not a 1.0 character). I made this character up (through journal entries) and was hoping someone could give ideas+confirm that I am not messing up any lore. Its a rough draft thus far:

Just posted my idea for a character to join your house. It makes so assumptions so i do need a critique and to know your direction of how you see the house (so I don't infringe on how you want to roleplay).

I think that maybe we should give each other a brief write up on our characters so we can sort of roleplay-think of how they would come into a common household together (if you're interested in being in a household with me on Gilgamesh).

Thanks LadyBeetle for showing me this thread. I am very interested in a household set up( though I am settling on Gilgamesh and it seem you have Balmung in your server future). I think it would require some initial set up with people before hand to decide on how to go about it so that you could enter the game being in this household. If anyone is interested in setting up family of sort on Gilgamesh just respond to this post (or PM).

Besides these two tidbits: Do you know anything of Lalafell lore? I plan on creating one but thus far I don't see a lot to go from.

I think I will call Gilgamesh my home. While Balmung is tempted there is something about playing on a Legacy server that just doesn't suit me. I haven't tried roleplaying in an MMO before (although I have roleplay experience as a D&D player) so it should be fun. I hope to find some players who wish to have an in-game family of sorts.

So let me begin this with saying that I have played FF all through my childhood and up to present (I will be turning 29 this week). Among my other hobbies is hiking and most specifically Pathfinder (D&D). I usually DM and love the roleplay aspect of it. I'm only telling you this to get to my main point. I started a couple weeks in beta P3 and really love it, but the idea of roleplaying my Lalafell speaks to me as a pathfinder player. So i joined this forum to see where the servers would be so that I could try out roleplaying upon the new launch. This in turn connects us to the touchy subject. Server choice. I don't know which to pick... primary or secondary as I see the regulars refer to it. It brings me some anxiety to play on a legacy server that is connected to a possibility of elitism, potential lower population size. Yet it seems Balmung is most RP'ers will go so then I'm worried if I go to Gilgamesh I won't be able to experience a true RP experience on FF14:ARR. I especially think the idea of roleplaying a family (ie. distant cousins/mother-son/etc...) would be awesome. I keep going back and forth... quite unsure of what to do. Which leads to my final point, which is why I created this topic (as my first post no less): Is it not possible to have a discussion(perhaps a meta thread?) on this subject? The few scattered discussions I found are what I need to make any informed and measured decision rather than act upon my gut feeling at a time. I just want to be able to read this forums discussion on the matter without it being locked after a few pages... I might be able to come to a decision that way.
