  1. I missed the August 18 get-together because of 3102. Now it looks as if I'm going to miss this one, too. I was on this morning and things were going swimmingly. I figured I'd hang around, questing, FATEing and whatnot until time for the party. Sadly, I got booted about an hour ago and can't get back. I'll keep trying -- my character is at The Alehouse. I don't know how to get to the party from there, but I'm sure, IF I can get back on, I'll figure it out. This is so disappointing/frustrating. This is no way to run a business.
  2. Unless there's some sort of miracle in the next few hours, it'll be a no-go for me. I've been 3102'd for over 13 hours now. Have fun, y'all :cactuar: <---- that's me, trying my hardest to get there, but not getting anywhere. Or maybe it's me throwing a tantrum .
  3. Same here. And when I retry, there's no indication that the character was ever created (or named). I hope I can use the name I (finally) came up with and that the system doesn't consider it "used" already. Oh well, try and try again, eh? ----------------------------------------------- And right after this post posted, I got it! Yay! And promptly crashed, error 10102. /sigh It's going to be that kind of morning, I guess .
  4. C'io, you're absolutely correct. I was trying to come up with something on the fly and my examples should have been more "observable" or "actiony" (for lack of a better word). It's been a while since I was involved in hands-on RP and I'm a bit rusty. Sorry and thanks for the comments!
  5. For me (and of course, I can only speak for myself), having to ask permission, or being asked permission, is sort of a buzzkill. I try to roll with whatever is presented. Having to start out with OOC permissions would break the rhythm of the scene. In my opinion, if it's being done in public, across /say, it's pretty much fair game. If I'm not sure whether my character would be welcome in a scene, perhaps I might emote around the players in question. /em strains to hear what X and Y are saying. /em notices that Y looks upset. Or, perhaps my character might mumble to herself, loud enough for them to hear. /em mutters under her breath /say Oh dear, that Roe looks upset. Oh! Did I say that out loud?" Then, it's up to the other players to either ignore my character (at which point she might /say Oh, I guess they want to be left alone) or draw her further into the scene. In that same manner, I'd like to think if I were in a scene and someone started emoting nearby, I'd try to react and incorporate them in somehow. All that being said, I might shoot the other player(s) an OOC /tell during incorporation if clarifications are needed. Otherwise, just roll with it and see where it goes.
  6. Being new to town, "Amiabelle" does not yet have a place to call home. For the time being, the owner of the local chocobo stable has allowed her to sleep in the loft above. "Ami" is not at all fond of the smell, and it is somewhat warmer than she'd like, but it is cozy and surprisingly comfortable. "Amiabelle" falls asleep quickly and generally awakens refreshed. She is a side sleeper and doesn't move about much when asleep. Although she's loathe to admit it, "Ami" is a light snorer. "Ami" hates it when people (or animals) drool while asleep. She is saving her gil to purchase a proper home
  7. Woohoo!!! I'm in! And oh, my word, thanks ever so much for the video voyage in the wayback machine! Memories, memories... Of course, now that song is stuck in my head...
  8. /bow Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! And I stand by what I said earlier -- once I have a clue as to what I'm doing, I'd love to help out! Even if it's just standing at the door, saying "Hi!" to everyone who enters .
  9. Not sure what I have to do to sign up (I suppose I'll find that on the SA website), but as soon as I figure it out, I'd love to be part of this group! Question: can a character's first class be a crafting class or must everyone start as an adventurer for 10 levels? In beta, everyone was required to start with Adventuring. Will that be the same at launch or will there be more leniency with starting classes?
  10. I'm definitely looking forward to Limitless Sky and Coalition. I don't see a Linkshell description for Coalition -- did I miss it somewhere? I don't know how the pearls work, but once I get my feet wet and get a better understanding of game systems (and geography), I'll be happy to help out.
  11. Ami enjoys people-watching (one of her favorite activities) and is frequently observing people and their mannerisms in hopes of being able to use them in her character developments. Additionally, when she was a child, a troupe member introduced her to the art of Archery. After a very brief stint with the troupe, he moved on; no one knows where he went. Ami would love to find him to thank him for instilling in her the love of Archery. FWIW, the chances of finding him are small. In the back of her mind, Ami knows that. She doesn't remember his name and can barely remember his face. Still, she holds out hope because she can be stubbornly optimistic at times. Other than that, Ami's not sure what she's looking for, and neither am I. We'll find out, perhaps, once she gets into the world?
  12. One tiny suggestion: is it possible to make it more apparent which server-group tab we're looking at? Could, perhaps, the selected tab be A) brighter than the other two or B) larger than the other two?
  13. "Amiabelle" (not her actual name) is a member of a long-running troupe of traveling performers. She's the daughter of the company's founders. Since the Company is currently at their home base (I'm not sure where that is) for the off-season, "Amiabelle" is striking out on her own, doing research for characters and getting show ideas. CAPA sounds like it might be right up her alley!
  14. It's as if you read my mind. The one additional thing I wanted from the Linkshell index was a way to tell which ones were affiliated with which servers (without having to open each one). Matter of fact, I had thought about posting it as a forum suggestion. I was hesitant because I'm so new here . In any event, thank you, thank you, thank you! Excellent work!
  15. Beautiful, Yaein! I especially liked the line "...the dirt in my fingernails served as bookmarks...". Thank you for sharing your work!
