  1. *Bounces* Thank you! I can't believe how fast you did that!
  2. If If there's still room for requests, I'd like to see Kaed playing with his carbuncle!
  3. *Bounces* That's awesome! Thank you so much!
  4. I pre ordered the standard edition through Amazon a couple days ago and i got emailed a early access code as well. (I wanna upgrade to the digital CE eventually)
  5. Hello Henry and Welcome to the RPC forums!
  6. I can't believe I missed this last post, so much new info! So if Conjury and White Magic are actually quite different, then is there much lore information on how white magic actually works? Is it more like black magic?
  7. I really like your art style. Maybe someday you can toss Kaed to the bottom of the list?
  8. I must say these are great! I can't wait to hear more.
  9. I'm sorry that I don't have any reference images or screenshots to offer, but if it's any help, my characters appearance has been described to the best of my abilities here.
  10. Amazingly well done. Love the expression.
  11. I don't have a very clear image in my head of my character yet so if anyone decides to brink him to life in a picture, i'd be glad to see how they see him. Name: Kaed Farsight Race: Hyur Midlander Primary class(s): Summoner(Arcanist) --Appearance-- Hair: Mid length, straight but messy. Light reddish blonde in color. Eyes: Dark amber/brown color. Face: Thin but generally cute albeit a bit feminine. Height: 5 fulms 11 ilms. Weight: Around 140 ponz. Build: Thin, not very muscled but still looks healthy. Skin: Clean and smooth for the most part, just a bit pale. Scars: There is evidence of some long healed burns that can be seen along his right arm and right side but they are hard to see. There are a couple scars on his chest and back from battle but not enough to identify him as someone who's seen a lot of combat. Clothing: Prefers loose fitting and comfortable clothing; generally wears wait length or longer jackets or robes. Color wise, he likes shades of white to dark grey but can also be seen in shades of red, orange and brown with the occasional black. Demeanor: Normally rather upbeat and cheerful. He tends to greet people with a smile and a wave. I hope if this catches any artists eye, that they can get as much enjoyment out of drawing him as i would of seeing the picture.
  12. Yeah, i've known about the Garleans which is partially where the idea came from. It isn't really getting the opposite effect of a spell, but more along the lines of Failing so hard at that specific school of magic that who knows what will happen if a spell is forced. I was hoping that there would be a difference between internal and external Aether, which would at least give a hand hold to the idea. Although the character is actually really good at Arcanist and Thaumaturge magic(Internal Aether), when he tries to use Conjurer magic(External Aether) it just doesn't work the way he hoped.
  13. That is true. To many unique 'Things' can make a character seem very fake. Though for me i hadn't planned on using or really doing anything with the ineptitude over just using it as a character plot device. I'm going to play around with the idea, see how it feels once i flesh out the story around it. If it comes off as something to unnatural, I'll scrap it in favor of something else.

    hello.

    Hello and Welcome!
  15. I. Basic Info Characters:Kaed Farsight Primary character:Kaed Linkshells:None yet. Primary RP linkshell:None yet. [*][*][*][*] II. RP Style Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): I'm mostly Medium, I prefer to enjoy multiple points of a game, that includes RP/PVE and crafting. I don't mind trying to stay IC but i don't pressure myself to do so if i'm not in the mood. Some times I just want to /anon and solo for a bit or group with friends OOCly. Views on RP combat and injuries: RP combat can be a very fun event if both parties communicate over whats going to happen. The thing I get annoyed with the most about RP combat is when people don't pre communicate about permissions. That leaves you with a pile of "So and so attempts to hit what's his face in the jaw, but depending on how they try and dodge, it could...." you get the picture. I myself enjoy the challenge of RP combat, it lets you think outside the games constricting mechanics. On the prospect of injury, i have no problem with injury but i draw the line at anything permanent or death. Not to say a permanent injury can't build character but, i'm not one to remove my characters arms or legs if there is no way to replace them. Views on IC romance: This is a tough one for me, although I've done RP on and off for over a year, my characters have never actually gotten into even a slightly romantic relationship so... I cannot give any examples of how it can or cannot do any good. I personally have no problem if something like that happens(I welcome the challenge!), i think it could be fun if done correctly. Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): As stated above, I have never had another player assume the roll of a relative so I can give no examples. Also as stated above, I have no problem with the idea and think it could be fun if all parties involved communicate. Views on lore: Lore, for me is both very important but also something to be feared. If the lore is unclear and players start assuming something is possible, only to have that shot down months later, it can ruin entire plots. But also it is the way we know what we can and cannot do with our characters. Views on chat functions (/say, /linkshell, etc): I'm not really concerned with how people use chat. I suppose /say should be kept IC, but I know that just isn't possible. For me it is Impossible to become fully immersed in a text based game because there will always be someone who does something that reminds you that you are indeed still playing a game on a screen. Since it's not possible to enforce proper chat functions, I've just learned to deal with it. If /say is to cluttered then there really isn't anything you can do except start ignoring everyone who breaks your personal rules or invite your RP partner(s) to a party and continue. At leas that's how i see it at this moment. [*][*][*][*][*][*] III. Other Info Country:United States Timezone:EST Contact info:IF you need to reach me, my skype is xiyn89. 16. Hey, thanks for those links. It certainly sounds like it should be possible to have a natural ineptitude toward a school of magic, though the side effect i was hoping for will probably have to be scrapped and reworked.
  17. Hm, i may have to rethink things, that doesn't really fit with the idea i had. Though, what do you guys think someone would have to do to really tick off the elements to cause themselves to be *cursed* for lack of a better term.
  18. So, here's the question that basically started the thread. I've been brainstorming my character and i'd like an important part of his past to involve his inability to use healing magic (Or any form of conjuror magic to be less specific) If he tries to force out a spell from that class, it would backfire violently. Would this be believable or even possible? Maybe due to some form of block to connecting with external Aether sources?
  19. I'm already here! Btw - love this series, it gave me sooo much insight into what the game used to be like, how it's changed and how the old players see the relaunch.
  20. Huh, that's some useful info. So the FFXIV magic comes from Aether and is drawn and condensed into spells from different sources (internal/external) That could make it easier to explain.
  21. That's what i was afraid of. Oh well. Thank you for your effort on the subject. *Straps a pair of goggles and gloves* I guess I'm off to conduct experiments in order to make a valid excuse.
  22. Hmm. Do you have any suggestions on a place to look? I'm not very familiar with Final Fantasy outside of the limited knowledge i got from the couple games I've played (but regrettably never beaten)
  23. That is a very good question. I'll have to try and learn about how white magic is supposed to work before i can answer that. Currently my character is going to be following the Summoner Job, so (I guess, from what I've seen) His magic is derived from geometric shapes or drawings. I don't have a clue how they theoretically work though.
