  1. I would like to sign up for the millioncorn mystery on Klynzahr, but I would be about 15 minutes late. Is that okay?
  2. With five days to go, I'm opening sign-ups for the "new player" event, Busydeals for Jinglyshines to anyone who is interested. The encounter will be adjusted towards a more experienced group. As a side note we also have one remaining spot in It's Always Pirates in case anyone would prefer exploring to rescuing goblins.
  3. Avast, all ye Seafarin' Folk! I appreciate everyone's patience during our change of hands and short hiatus. After consulting at length with Evangeline, I have agreed to take leadership of the Dead God's Chest and see it followed through to it's conclusion. Keeping in the spirit of Dead God's Chest, this plot will continue to be heavily character driven and story focused. If you are looking for optimized battles and heavy number crunching, don't look here. If you are looking for strict rule adherence down to the last detail, do not look here. We are simply writers telling a story together and my focus will remain on the story. Because we do need to provide reasonable balance and consistency, Dead God's Chest will officially be using the Fate-14 2.0 rules from this point forwards. However my first priority is to keep this storyline inclusive and accessible. We will welcome anyone from new players with nothing but skills and aspects, to 1.0 veterans. If you have an outdated sheet, I simply ask that you notify me to discuss possible stunt and class changes. Rumors of pirates run through Limsa Lominsa, speaking of hostile ships untied under a single flag. Many rumors run their course through the white-spired seafaring town but this one persists like black sails upon the horizon.... Wednesday November 9th 5:30 PST - It's Always Pirates The fishermen of Aleport are certainly a suspicious breed and liable to raise the cry of "Pirate" at the slightest provocation. So the Maelstom initially dismissed their wild claims of a pirate camp set up on a cluster of Northern Islands. However multiple sightings of smoke and firelight, have forced them to give the matter some attention. The call has been placed for a group of adventurers to scout the group of islands and determine who or what has taken up residence. 1. Nuin Noiregide 2. Ulrike Stoneheart 3. Thiea Smolder 4. S'imba Tia 5. Friday November 11th 5:30 PST - Busydeals for Jinglyshines (New Player Friendly) The notices pinned on Limsa Lominsa's billboards and tavern walls are as varied as her residents. However one stands out even among those. Plastered all across Limsa is an odd cry for help, ignored by the official adventuring circles, quickly fading to the wind and weather. Urgently, Urgently, Famous Beatlix Songmix seeks Uplanders for busydeals! Boomtrix Longwalks ripped from wideheart huggings of Gobbie Workstop! Songmix promises much jigglyshines to goodheart Uplanders to backtakes Boomtrix! Trade tongueflaps with crosswater boatdealer, Memeroon, to find Songmix! 1. Aegir Hlerson 2. 3. 4. 5. Tuesday November 8th 5:30 PST- The Price of Molasses (Player Run) The crew and associates of the Iron Bitch have some unfinished business, with monetarist and sugar giant Fufuluta. Rumors of his underhanded deals and the inhumane treatment of his workers have trickled around Thanalan for years, with no one moving to confront him. Will Annstarra and her motley crew be the ones to end his cruel operation? 1. Annstarra 2. Virara Vira 3. Jana Ridah 4. Sukoa? 5. Armand Important Note (New Player Events): Those events, which are marked as (New Player Friendly) will be intentionally balanced towards new Fate participants and extra time will be set aside during the event for explanations and help. I will be available 1 hour before the start of each new player event, specifically to answer questions and provide assistance with Fate sheets. *Initial sign ups for these events will be restricted to new Fate players, specifically those that have attended five or fewer Fate events* Sign ups will become available to veterans several days before each event.
  4. So sorry for missing Defection Protection. I couldn't get logged in despite my best efforts and the remainder of the weekend was super busy. My apologies for leaving you guys in the lurch. I hope it went well.
  5. I would love to sign Klyn up for Defection Protection but due to work, I would arrive between 30 and 40 minutes late. Is is possible for me to join when I arrive?
  6. Event Results Sealegs 2: The Iron Bitch To the thrill of her crew and the shock of most onlookers, the maiden voyage of the maelstrom's experimental vessel The Iron Bitch was completed without any onboard fires, engine failures or other embarrassing disasters. Indeed her day long cruise from Limsa Lominsa to the port of Vesper Bay would have been entirely uneventful if not for an unexpected encounter off the Southern Thanalan coast. Approximately two bells past high noon, the crew of the Bitch sighted a distress flare from beyond a small island and shortly after found a small brig belonging to the Immortal Flames giving chase to The Gold Coblyn, an armed galley belonging to the Fufuluta Molasses Concern. After hailing the brig, they received news that one of the concern's ships had recently been captured by pirates, with her entire cargo of indentured workers taken. News of this attack had spurred the poor souls aboard the Coblyn to take their own action. After escaping their holding cells, the workers had staged a mutiny, and taken full control of the Coblyn, despite the best efforts of the brig charged to escort her. Responding to the Flame's earnest pleas for help, the Iron Bitch pursued the Golden Coblyn and quickly pulled into hailing range. Sukoa, a passenger aboard the Bitch and a skilled diplomat, hailed the mutineers, offering to provide social aid and a fair trial if they stood down immediately. Although they initially considered his offer, the beleaguered Ala Mihgans aboard succumbed to the lure of freedom, which lay so near their grasp, and fired upon the Iron Bitch. Their resistance was destined to be short lived and bloody, as the adventurer's aboard the Iron Bitch cut through the mutineers like fresh butter. After a single broadside of explosive shells, the coblyn was boarded and retaken with great efficiency. However Captain Annstarra and her crew were horrified to discover the slave-like conditions in which the Fufuluta Molasses concern had been holding it's indentured servants. Upon rendezvousing with the Immortal Flames, the adventurers learned that the Gold Coblyn's crew had not actually been massacred in the initial mutiny. Many had surrendered and been placed in lifeboats, which were now safely aboard the Immortal Flame's ship. These survivors were now restored to their vessel amid congratulations and heartfelt thanks to the Iron Bitch and her associates. However their jubilation remained heavily tainted by the concern's maltreatment of it's servents. Captain Annstara, with the support of adventurers Jana Ridah and Virara Vira, insisted upon a full investigation and an agreement was signed, obligating the Fufuluta Molasses Co. to hold the mutineers on their island Paradise Cove, until further investigations and negotiations could be completed by Captain Annstarra and her crew. Boosts Annstara, Jana, and Virara: 1x /Immortal Flame's Letter of Thanks/ ~The Immortal Flame's Navy may be underfunded, undermanned and under respected, but you have earned their unreserved gratitude. This letter can be used for social rolls or favours from the Immortal Flames. Sukoa: 1x /Ala Mihgan Insight/ ~Although Sukoa refrained from speaking to the Immortal Flames or taking any credit for the victory, his efforts to reach the desperate mutineers have granted him valuable insight. This boost can be used for social rolls involving other Ala Mighan refugees. Storyline Aspects If this is your first event in Dead God's Chest, you will gain this aspect and may use it for the duration of the storyline. If you already have a story aspect, you must choose to keep it or exchange it for the new one. Annstara [sworn Enemy of a Molasses Empire] -Disgusted and infuriated by the conditions aboard the Gold Coblyn, Annstara intends to take down the monetarist scheme brick by brick. Jana [Rumors of a Mysterious Quarry] - For self-proclaimed pirate hunter Jana Ridah, hunting Limsian miscreants has grown rather boring, but talk of the mysterious Nortyrliht that made off with an entire ship and vanished again has caught her attention. Virara [stirrings of Compassion] - The very meaning of compassion or empathy is foreign, particularly for those weaker than herself. However something about the lightless belly of the ship has stirred deep memories and created a bond between Virara and the doomed mutineers. Sukoa [Diplomacy of a Different Land] - Devastated and horrified by his failure to gain the Ala Mihgan's trust, Sukoa has poured himself into deep research of Eorzea people and their values, in the hope that there will never be a second time. I apologize for the long wait after this event. Real Life was very busy over the last two weeks. The next chapter will be scheduled very soon.
  7. Despite the steep learning curve for all of us event part 1 has been completed successfully! Part two will be held on Monday at 6:00 pm sharp PST. Since this is a continuation, priorities will be given to Ann, Jana, Virara and Sukoa. Let me know if any of you have a change in availability. We also have a small rule change from the top. According to Empress Eva, it is permissible for an NPC to sail your ship without direct supervision. In that case the players will be required to emote orders for their NPC to execute and the results may vary slightly based on the orders given, the personality of the NPC in charge and the gods of dice. Thank-you for your patience and we'll see you all Monday!
  8. We will hold until six. If you can't make it on time we'll work you in once you arrive.
  9. We can hold it until 6:00 if needed. Anyone arriving later will need to be worked in, when they arrive.
  10. Okay! We are scheduled for Wednesday at 5:30pm PST, pending approval from Ann.
  11. It was a quiet evening in blacksmith’s row. The last forges had been doused for the night, leaving the lull of the sea to sing solo. Most of the smiths had long since made their way down to the old bar but a handful of late closers remained, tidying their storefronts and offering their nightly prayers to Bryegot. Iyrnahct was up late, sealing and labeling a massive shipment of axe heads bound for the Gridanian botanists’ guild. Jobs like this were typically left to one of his boys but they had begged to spend their evening with two new carpentry apprentices from the drydock. Apparently one of them owned a particularly elegant greataxe. The knock at his door took the old smith by surprise, but he was far more startled to hear a female voice calling him by the long forgotten nickname. “Oh Ernie!” As he pulled the door open, the tiny form of Daniwyda scurried inside out of the wind. It took him a moment to recognize the woman, without her heavy armour and axe, but one glance at her worn green face jogged his memory back sharply. “Oh is’ ye lass, I’ve yer chainmail aready.” He blurted in surprise, forgetting to keep a check on his northern accent. However the odd dialect seemed to give Daniwyda no pause. “I’d hoped ye would. Sorry ter call back so late. I thought we might talk a wee bit.” The blacksmith pulled his eyes away from her with some difficulty, retrieving her freshly repaired chain coat from behind the counter. It was more than the smiles of a strong and pretty woman, which he had long since believed himself immune to. Something in Daniwyda’s dark grey eyes and sharp face stirred deep memories that he could never exactly place. Each time she passed through the town Iyrnahct found himself wondering for days when and where they had met before, before reluctantly concluding that they never had. While she examined his work, the blacksmith found himself examining her yet again, with a puzzled smile. Eventually she caught his eye and laughed, sending the old man’s heart fluttering like a schoolboy’s. “Ye look tired, Ernie.” She told him, placing the payment firmly in his hand. “When’s the last time ye’ve been out ter relax over a drink?” “Oh I donna gerr’out oft’ese days” He answered quickly, forcing his thoughts back to the business at hand. “I’se a shipment good as done ternight…” “Well ye should. I’ll pick up the tab?” Her dark eyes looked up at him, with an inviting smile, but underneath Iyrnahct could detect a low current of sadness. It was a look that touched him with a familiar pang. He knew instantly that she had lost someone very close. “Then I’ll jus’ have ter set th’locks an’ hove to.” He replied, folding and packaging the chainmail tenderly. He tucked Dani’s package under her arm and offered the small woman his elbow for the walk, only to pause just outside the door. “Why’d ye call me ‘at?” “Call ye what?” “Ernie. No one be callin’ me Ernie since… well not fer a good long while.” “Not sure,” She smiled up at the towering smith. “Reckon it just felt like it belonged ter ye.” ____________________________________________________________________________ They arrived home in the small hours, flushed, and still singing the sad chorus of ’Three Fishers’. Iyrnahct offered Dani a hammock, with gentlemanly grace. Then stole a kiss when refused. She lingered for a few moments just outside the door before starting out on the long hike to the strand. Fifteen minutes out from the town, Captain Daniwyda Merlfalkwyn was slowly sobering up humming Three Fishers softly to herself, when the sudden rush of footsteps brought her great axe to hand. The three figures behind her instantly ceased their charge, throwing their hands in the air. She could make out two Sea Wolves and a Midlander, all carrying sea bags and axes. From their silhouettes in the night, she knew they were little more than boys. “Mam, Please wait! We’ve heard yer Captain o’ a privateer frigate” Their leader called out breathlessly, “We want ter sail with ye!” As he stepped closer, the boy lifted a lantern and Captain Merlfalkwyn felt her heart leap into her throat. The boy staring eagerly down at her was Merlanka Iyrnachtsyn, the blacksmith’s elder son. The trio begged eagerly, while she wrestled with her conscience. Finally the captain quietly asked “Do yer families know?” “Yes!” Merlanka blurted, unaware that his young face could be read like a book. Captain Merlfalkwyn hesitated for a moment more but Merlanka’s eager face woke a deep motherly instinct, which could not be silenced. “Alright,” She sighed “I’ll take ye on. Step quick now.” Towering over his new Captain, Merlanka’s boyish face broke into a massive grin, exactly like his father’s. Daniwyda lead the trio down to her skiff, wondering duly if she would ever have the courage to face Iyrnahct after this.
  12. Is everyone okay to hold the event this Wednesday (the 28th) starting at 5:50pm PST?
